McKennitt is often compared to Enya, but is more grounded in traditional and classical invocations using literary works as sources of lyrics and springboards for interpretation such as The Lady of Shalott by Lord Tennyson, Prospero's Speech, the final soliloquy in William Shakespeare's The Tempest, Snow by Archibald Lampman, William Blakes Prospero, intended for a dramatic piece of King Edward the fourth and The Highwayman by Alfred Noyes.

Chinese philosopher Lao Tzu's words are a good introduction to the third album in a trilogy of musical travel documents that began with The Visit. Recorded at Peter Gabriel's Real World studios in England, The Book Of Secrets was written and researched all over the world, and, following its release in 1997, would go on to sell several million copies around the globe.

The album features a cast of over two dozen musical collaborators, and the eight songs contained therein, including North American hit single The Mummers Dance, leads the listener on unexpected journeys. Follow the music from ancient Byzantium to a puppet-maker's theatre in Sicily, or from the rocky island of Skellig Michael once inhabited by Irish monks in the Dark Ages to Venice and the journeys of Marco Polo, or from the tragic narrative of The Highwayman to the thunder of hooves across the Caucasus and the echoes of Dante s words found, unexpectedly, in a train journey across Siberia.

Shellac, 1000 Hurts. It's weird. Its rock music.

Rich Grech ... the first of many of the so called SuperGroups...Four young ,diverse, talented musicians looking for an outlet for their musicial ideas and songs, tired of being stuck in a mold with the music they have already done.....well they found it here, six well crafted and performed songs worthy of Supergroup status........A vocalist who really is a voice of a generation, and just happens to play a pretty good keyboards, a Guitarist who was considered by many a superstar at the tender age of 17, a drummer's Drummer second to none, and a multi talented Bassist, what's not to like;

For all the Blues/Rock lovers out there I'm gonna suggest you take a chance and taste real talent that never sold out.Said by Muddy Waters and many more to be one of the best blues artist ever.

Thing is the remastered edition which is simply called "Blind Faith (Deluxe)" has even more great Blind Faith...

Two CD's with a total of 15 songs!

If you love Blind Faith you need to get a hold of the Deluxe version.

The Jam sessions on disc 2 alone make this a must have CD.

Overall a great CD that I can listen to the whole thing without skipping a track (hard for me to do this). There is such craftmanship in this music, no "wall of sound" just genuine good musicianship paired with honest sounding mixing.

Back to you, Valentine, Train, Amsterdam, and Compound are so far my favorite tracks.

I picked this album (CD) up on BMG Music Club a while back and I will definitely concur. The disc 2 jams are worth the purchase and an excellent bonus. Great, great CD. The Deluxe version.

This is the album by the Eric Idle creation The Rutles. Still the best rock parody/satire film ever made. Compleat songs by the Pre-fab Four, and the lp comes with a great booklet insert with interviews and lyrics.

I'll jump on the Rory Gallagher bandwagon--

Funny, I hadn't gotten any of his stuff because I didn't like the samples I'd heard on a few sites. but I looked back into him because of this thread--

I downloaded both of his live albums from the early 70's, and they are both rippers. What a show this guy put on! Great blues rock riffing and vocals-- He pounds out short blues blasts and when he stretches out for the longer songs he plays evocatively--

I think his sometimes off kilter vocals in the studio turned me off before, but on these performances he is obviously pumped up and the energy in the guitar playing and his vocals is riveting--

Highly recommended--
