TBrennan
Same guy is selling some Vitavox corner horns, maybe the modders here should be interested in the Vitavox drivers. Romy thinks the world of them.

oldbuckster
Mike I see them, and will bite my tongue, reserving any comment I might have..................They are different, and I have a feeling they are rare.......nothing that I would want.......................[]
colterphoto1
I wonder if coltur is my long lost Canadian cousin?
Chicago_Pete
I wonder if coltur is my long lost Canadian cousin? Might be, he's a camera dude as well. He's selling a nice black F2 if you're feeling nostalgic?
coda
It would be worth the trip to inspect and hear them before seriously bidding. Some may buy them based on legend alone. http://www.ominous-valve.com/big_spkr.html Looks like the seller has an interesting shop. http://www.setadelstudios.com
smilin
I saw an identical pair for sale about 6 months ago on ebay, they went for about 12K, 25K sounds too high, but, hey, to each there own. I heard reds vs golds vs silvers vs blacks, and liked the golds best...go figure[H]
Allan Songer
I guess I missed that pair! I did see a pair of single driver Autographs sell for about ten grand a few months ago. I have a pair of Monitor Golds that are being WASTED in a pair of little sealed boxes. One day I will build some nice horn cabinets for them. But not today! smilin
I am having my 15's worked on by a guy in Kenosha, who has done some amazing horn speakers, and is very reasonable. Tannoys DEFNATLY need breating room, and a large box.............[8-|]
ben.
Coltur75 sure does turn a good deal of Tannoy. I used to watch his items regularly, but he seems to demand a good buck for everything. He's got a history of very nice McIntosh as well. You could spend a fair amount on photo gear if you wanted to...
Arkytype
Here are a couple of links to the history of Tannoy and its products. Guy R. Fountain (GRF) had several audio "firsts" and, like many inventors, was mostly unknown outrside his home country. Anyone know when he died? http://www.tannoy.com/media/Tannoy%20Company%20History.pdf http://www.historyofpa.co.uk/pages/history.htm#tannoy Lee
coda
there's mention that he passed away shortly after he retired in 1974, http://www.meta-gizmo.com/Tri/potty/TANNOYMANIA.html here's the previous eBay auction and a couple of archived pics
HarryO
Sweet! I may try building a pair of "deviants" HarryO
smilin
This is too frikin funny, look at the serial numbers, this guy bought em for 14k, and is resellig the same pair, I was telling you guys about...........heh heh heh
Allan Songer
The odds that TWO distinct pairs would show up on ebay in a matter of a few months were pretty long anyway. One of the guys over at the Tannoy Group is pretty sure less than 20 pairs of these were actually sold. They were CRAZY expensive back in the 60's--something like $4000/pair THEN. fini
Allan, Is this particle board construction? It sure looks like it to me, which would be weird...
Allan Songer
The horn baffles are particle board, the box is plywood. This is a VERY complex horn! And I was wrong about the prices--these sold for $1300 ea in 1964, which was STILL a pile of money!! Here are the plans for the SINGLE driver "standard" autograph:
