I recently just purchased a 50' Plasma TV, no its not 1080p, I didn't feel like it was worth it considering the cost. I watch movies probably 3-5 times weekly and was just wondering is there a noticable difference in SD movies on regular players vs. SD movies on these OPPOs? wuzzzer Posted June 6, 2007 Share Posted June 6, 2007 I have the 981 player and I certainly noticed a very nice difference in picture quality and color depth compared to the harman/kardon unit it replaced. My tv is a 1080p, though. If I were you I might look at Oppo's 970 player which is only $149. I guarantee no $149 player will be better than the Oppo and the Oppo will be better than 99.9% of players in that price range and more. RM1111 Posted June 9, 2007 Share Posted June 9, 2007 How about getting a Toshiba HD DVD Player. Saw a ad in circuit city for a model that was $299.00 on sale, but I think the Ad ends today. I don't think it was the 1080P model though. I do have the 971 player and I haven't had any problems with it. Picture look good. The only thing that I don't like about it is when the you turn off the power off, the disc tray doesn't retract automatically, if it is open.
