DrFish96
Well I started with a pair of 1974 Cornwall Decorater speakers that were not in to bad of shape but needed work. On the cabinets, I sanded them down slightly and repaired all of the dings and what not. They got a coat of primer and then three coats of Cut Ruby paint. Red is either hard to work with or its just me. It was hard getting the streaks out. Then three coats of polycrylic. This was not easy either. The grills are heavy duty from Parts Express. I have three kids !! All of the black parts were sanded down and repainted. In the second picture I will go over the insides. Drfish
DrFish96
Picture #2 Forgot the new Klipsch logo's on the front. K-77 Tweeters got new diaphrams ( Bob) and repainted because of oxidation. k-55 are fine except horns were repainted. K-33P woofers seem fine except on one. that I am using a little silicone on a little rip from the inside. Crossovers rebuilt ( Bob) All of the old dampening material has been replaced. ( partsexpress) All in all ony one cabinet is finished. Now I will start working on the next one. I am replacing La Scala's with these. The kids are just to rough for the La Scala's. Thanks for looking. Drfish
Mike Lindsey
Very tastefully done! I'm in the middle of restoring some 82 Heresy's and have sanded off the the old stain and smoothed out the cabinets, and have a little wood filler to take care of some corners but am not real certain on how to do it. I have picked up some generic filler and will attempt it this weekend. The paint looks nice, but I'm still leaning towards a light stain for mine (possibly Golden Oak to match my La Scala's. DrFish96
I feel I had no choice but to paint these. I had planned for this to be my first veener job but when I won these on Ebay I did not realize they had rounded corners in the front. I did not feel that I could do a good job with the veener because of that reason. Drfish
Daddy Dee
Drfish, Yeh, no really good way to deal with rounded corners. Can't veneer that. You were mentioning the kids being hard on the LaScalas?
DrFish96
Yea, I really love them but the kids are rough on the bass bin part in the middle where the edges come together. I thought the Cornwalls could take alot more beating from the kids. I really like the soumd of the Cornwall anyway. This is not the only pair I have or have had. oldbuckster
Why RED ............... any special reason for that choice of color ??
garymd
Why RED ............... any special reason for that choice of color ?? Purple didn't go with the decor OB. What do you think? Sheesh!! If I had to paint, I'd go with piano black but that's just me. If red works for you, that's great. Very nice job BTW and it's almost impossible to make Cornwalls sound bad, no matter what color! DrFish96
Here are the reasons. Black is just not for me anymore. Red does happen to be my favorite color but I thought this red would really bring out the contrast between the red and black. I knew that I would have to repaint the horns and put on a grill. Red is not for everyone one but I think it looks good here. Drfish
Marvel
I'm pretty much with Michael on these... DIG IT! Wouldn't fit my decor, but I still like it.

horn player
Well done! Do they sound any different with the foam vs the original paper based damping material? You have inspired me to get going with my '75 Cornwall restoration!
DrFish96
Thanks I can not tell the difference between the two. I have used the foam before in a Heresy project. The only reason I changed it here is because it looked like some mice had lived in it and it was falling apart. It was a real pain to get all of the staples out of the old stuff. I still have one cabinet to do and I am not looking foward to it. Drfish
colterphoto1
These are bested only by the famous ParrotHead Cornwalls from Miami- remember those? Kind of a teal/aqua with bizarre bold tropical grille cloth. I think they lived by the pool and inhaled fruity beverages in their spare time. I always wanted to spray purple gelcoat on my PA... naaaaaw. But I do have Anvil cases in Red, White, and Blue!
