cmdridq
The street, that is. The street crews fill in potholes, but often they reappear in a couple of days. And we're talking about some bigazz holes. I can't figure out where the pieces of roadwork are going? This may be one of the great mysteries of life. oldbuckster
Until the truck in front of you throws a chunk of blacktop through your windshield .... you'll know then !!!!!!!!!!
BLSamuel
I think it gets tossed out onto the pavement where it gets run over, thrown up into windshields and other parts of vehicles and into the right of way or yards along the street. Guest srobak
The burbs aren't much better, cmdridq. It is absolutely horrible out here. I just hope they get it fixed up by spring, or else motorcycle riding is going to be like running through a minefield, especially at night. Islander
In Jamaica, the pavement is only a few inches thick and is laid on sand, so once a pothole starts, it spreads to giant size pretty quickly. Riding a motorcycle there is interesting, what with dodging potholes, dumptrucks and buses, most of which hog the road. Most of the rental bikes are in pretty poor shape, as well. But it could be worse. In Asbestos, Russia, the prime industry is asbestos mining, naturally, and it's everywhere and is used for all sorts of things, including filling potholes on the roads. The air in that whole city is full of asbestos dust and the people are not very healthy...
soundbound
If the people who filled the potholes with the blacktop would take the time to compact it into the pothole, it would stay in the pothole a lot better. Mostly they just fill the pothole and leave the blacktop loose for the vehicles to compact. The blacktop then just tends to stick to the tires, dragged out of the holes, all over the cars, and down the road it goes. They make hand and very good air tools for this compaction job. I guess lunch time rolls around before they can put them to good use though.
