Daddy Dee
This woman accesses her Mac remotely and takes pictures of the perps using the web camera. Police identify perps from the pics she took. http://www.myfoxny.com/myfox/pages/Home/Detail;jsessionid=2C8EED15D33152238695035EA2C5A785?contentId=6506184&version=6&locale=EN-US&layoutCode=TSTY&pageId=1.1.1&sflg=
synthfreek
The cool thing is that you don't even need to be savvy to do that on a Mac. This reminded me of the classic P-P-P-Powerbook Scam from a few years back. Read the whole thing for a bit of hilarity. I think it may have some cussing BTW. stan krajewski
Every once in a while the good guys win. Made my day. The media spends too much time reporting crime and not enough time educating people on how to prevent it.
jtkinney
That's justice. Something similar happened a few years ago. A ham radio operater had his truck stolen. He remotely turned on the ham radio in the truck which was hooked to a GPS receiver. He then called the police and told them where the truck was driving. They didn't believe him at first, but called a unit near the truck and sure enough, there it was. The truck was recovered and thief jailed.
