montigue
not to mention the samson amp costs only slightly more than the plate amp. The main reason people go with the pc line is because its a "plug and play". They just like the convinience. Personally I dont mind spending the money time and effort to make it sound better. but thats just me monty

SS powered subwoofer? I think you mean SVS powered subwoofer, right? I don't think there is any SS powered. mike stehr
I seen one advertised at $339.95. Christ! How many online prosound retailers are out there?! SVS provides the proper interconnects with purchase. Though I'm sure you can find the proper jacks for a lot less. If they have it in B stock, the S700 goes for $299.00. But when does that ever happen? Everytime I check, they are sold, or are none. YEEHAW!
Mike Lindsey
Mike, The Samson S700 is quiet from the listening position. Once I get about 5 ft away from it, I can't hear it... Convection cooled, $375. Refurbished, though. Ahh man, this is BEAT! Maybe I best just get a S700, and get over the Fan issue. I ain't gonna find better for the money, unless I go used, but I would like a warranty. THANX! ------------------ My Music Systems
montigue
ya ive seen it for $339 also but then they want another $20 for shipping. This one inlcudes shipping costs for $349. I dont know how much the interconnect cable would be but that could be a factor, for sure. this guy sells factory seconds on ebay: username "swarthmoremusic" his number is Swarthmore Music 610-328-2464 I just bought the S1000 for $289 from this guy. He says his equipment is new not refurbished BUT could have and probably for sure does have scratches and dents. Monty
mike stehr
Thank you Mr. Lindsey! You've made my decision, I listen at about eight feet away. And I can ditch it in a old large antique dresser if need be. It has plenty of breathing room inside this dresser or whatever it is. (I think it's some sort of towel cabinet.) That will kill the fan noise, if it is even a issue anyway. Monty, A poster on another thread mentioned that Radio Shack carries interconnects that convert from RCA to 1/4'. Shouldn't be too spendy. THANX!
Mike Lindsey
Mike, SVS provides you with the RCA to 1/4". It's not gold-tipped however, if that's what you're looking for... Mike ------------------ My Music Systems
mike stehr
quote: SVS provides the proper interconnects with purchase. No Mike, I'm not really concerned whether the cables are gold plated or not. Maybe if I go for a DIY cable fo some sort. THANX! Mike. AMIGATHEBEST
also svs says the PC models have a shorter tube making them a little bit (like 1 db)less powerful. they have shorter tube because they need room for the internal amp.
