sean5340
My sister gave me this. I think it's a portable HAM radio but I'm not sure. What is it? I have more pictures if it would help. Thanks
fenderbender
What ever it is it looks cool!!!
sean5340
It's a shortwave radio receiver. It's not a transmitter. Shortwave radio listening is still popular, and modern radios are still available. Although, the Internet has impinged on that hobby quite a bit. Thanks. After some googling I found a couple of links. http://www.antiqueradio.org/g500.htm It does look cool. If anyone wants it let me know. If not I'll clean it up and display it. boom3
There is a big Trans-Oceanic fan group out there, as vociferous and talented as the Klipsch folks. I should know, I'm a member of both. http://groups.google.com/group/rec.antiques.radio+phono/topics?hl=en http://antiqueradio.org/welcome.htm http://www.thisoldradio.com/ "Zenith Trans-Oceanic, The Royalty of Radio" by Bryant http://www.amazon.com/Zenith-TRANS-OCEANIC-John-H-Bryant/dp/0764328387/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1217090590&sr=8-

I cleaned it up a little and it looks cool sitting on top of my sub. If you know of anyone interested in restoring it I'll let em have it for shipping plus packaging. I don't want to get rid of it for someone to just sell it. Sean
JJkizak
Very bad idea to set it on your sub. Could possibly do a lot of magnetic damage to the set. JJK
