  1. Again I was staring at the screen, showing the add of a set of black theatre- monsters called "University Classics". -I had no transport to get them home and no place to store them -I promissed my wife the La Scala's were the biggest loudspeakers I had dragged into our livingroom -The La Scala's sounded fantastic after all the work I had put into it, we had no desire for other speakers. SO; I called the owner and agreed to pick them up next weekend. After that call I told my wife what I had done, she reacted with " it's your passion dear, pick them up and we'll see if they fit in here". After pickup we dragged one of the cabs inside and swapped it for one La Scala; after a few minutes we knew these were our next speakers.... Next day began a project that became a experience to remember. Out of the blue my father [a old carpenter] offered to store them and help with the woodwork I had in mind; our relation never was good enough for me to expect that.... After a few weeks the cabs were ready to take home and finish there; we rearranged the livingroom so that the cabs could stay there, work would be done outside. The rest of this story will be told by some pics; give me some time to post them and I hope you'll enjoy. Nico

  2. My 2 year old daughter goes to the CD rack, grabs a CD and says, "can I listen to music with you, daddy?" Of course, I ablige. We listen, I tell her the name of the person or group and the name of the song. Sometimes she just sits, sometimes she dances. So far Cash is her favorite, which is fine by me. Lol. Just like everything else with kids, it starts at home.

  3. Did you get a 1099 form after winning the sub? No... Will I be getting one? I hope not but was just curious. I won a trip to Daytona Beach from MTV a few years back and got one unexpectedly. Probably varies from state to state and by promotion.... Helluva nice win for you....Enjoy!

  4. My subs are rated at 100dB/1 watt for each cabinet. I have them stacked so I believe that should technically give a 106dB/1 watt output? In any event they're the best subs I've ever experienced for 2 channel use.

  6. You couldn't make that statement if you used them for HT. I'll bet they sound awesome for 2 ch though. I'm pretty sure this is the 2 channel forum so HT has zero to do with it. I gave that mess up years ago. All it took was one get together with a bunch of grown men obsessing over an animated fish on the TV screen to make me realize it was just plain silly

  8. I assumed the DCR on the UT air core would be close to .4, but a measurement gave me .55 ohms - a little too high I think. I asked them to wind me six using 12 gauge wire. This should bring the DCR down to .3 or lower. I think I'm going to use these on special builds or at request. They may not look as nice as the Solens or the Erse "perfect lay" types, but the prototype they sent me is a solid part and I don't want to walk away from it. All these folks do is wind, and it shows. The fact that I can offer it for a little more than half as much is a plus too. A 2.5mH 14AWG Erse air core from Partsexpress goes for roughly $40.00.

  11. Wake Junkie I love the look of your room. It should be a great place to relax and entertain. Youthman's photo of the Klipsch speakers is kinda like a historical documentry on the Reference line of the large speaker.
