  1. That room is very small, only one recliner in there too, just for him! I would guess the room is 12x12 at the most. The Nova's are the second gen. Some of the music he was playing was a bit harsh but I don't know if it was the CD, the amps or what. At one point he played something and I look over with a huge smile on my face and my buddy is grinning ear to ear as well. It was pretty funny. I still "imagine" a pair of khorns or Jubes setup right with the right tube gear could at least give it a run for it's money. Maybe I'm just dreaming but I like to "imagine" that's what they are capable of. I don't know, I'm still running these low level RF-7s but you know as soon as I got home I popped in a cd and sat down - still love the sound of these RF-7s so they didnt ruin me by any means.
  2. Last weekend a friend of ours invited us over for a get together and we went upstairs to check out his two channel setup. The first room he had the top of the line Cerwin Vegas with the two 15" woofers and waveguide on the tweeter. I had read up on these awhile back and thought they might be cool for a cheap garage system to rock out to. Well he had them hooked up to a tube amp and I expected them to at least sound decent but wow, total garbage. Best way to describe it is "muddy". No way I would waste my money on those things. Well off to the next room. At this point I'm thinking this guy doesnt know what good sound is lol. Well we walked around the corner into his real 2 channel system and holy crap! Here is a picture of it. Sorry for such a crappy photo, it was taken with the cheap camera on my Sidekick phone. Next get together I'll take my digital camera over there. The speakers are Focal Nova Utopia and the amps are Pass Labs I think. The CD player on top was not up and running yet, he had just bought it. Said it was close to 20k new or something like that. Anyway the sound was very nice. For the price of the speakers though, I dont see it being worth it. He said he has found what he's looking for though, he has had Watt Puppies and many other speakers and he said these Utopias are what he's been looking for. Anyway, here is the pic I took.

    .

Black speakers for home theater, nice maple or cherry or whatever matches your decor for 2 channel IMHO.
  4. This guy does awesome work. He is a little expensive but he has the best plaques out there IMO. http://www.designbybond.se/ Edit: Only his LED plaques are expensive, the rest are pretty fair IMO... He also has a nice Klipsch plaque.
  5. Sounds to me like they need to check out the XF-48s. They sounded really good to me for their size. Perfect for contemporary furniture and flat screens as well.
  6. Here is my contribution to the thread:
  7. Wow, great sound! I just ordered their cd! I'm in Houston, surprised I havent heard of them before. Thanks for the heads up, I like it a lot.
  8. That's what makes this hobby so great. Everyone hears different things. I can't tell you how many people have gone from Cornwalls, Chorus lls, Fortes, KLF-30s and so on to RF-7s because they liked them better. Then there are the people that went from the RF-7s to the Heritage and liked them better as well. I myself want a pair of Jubilee's. By the end of the year maybe I'll be ready for a pair. I'm just glad Klipsch has so many different flavors to choose from! lol
  9. Lmao... I sent him an email and in it I kindly directed him here... http://www.intellexual.net/bose.html
  10. "This Is It" is amazing in Blu-ray. With all the weirdness that surrounded his life the last 10 or however many years it was easy to forget how talented this guy was. In "This Is It", he was 50 years old and still dancing better than most people can even think about dancing and his voice still sounded perfect. Very well done Blu-ray and it shows just how talented he was. I think it's a must have for anyones collection. When he did Billie Jean at the end it was awesome.
  11. I don't think it's the XPA-2. Here are the tests that were done on the amp. Could it be the Harman Kardon receiever I'm using as a pre-amp possibly? http://www.audioholics.com/reviews/amplifiers/emotiva-xpa-2/xpa-2-measurements
  12. I have thought about that... I can drop a dedicated line easily. I have a buddy with glow rods, it's easy to do. I have everything on one 15 amp circuit. Maybe that's the problem. I know I have seen tests showing the XPA-2 making a clean 315 or 320 watts a channel by someone on one of these forums.
  13. I remember reading about this years ago. If I'm not mistaken the guy that started BIC used to work for Klipsch at one point? I don't know, I always look at them as a wanna be Klipsch speaker. I saw them at Cosco awhile back and laughed...
  14. It has to be a setting or something. Even my older HK 325 is reading Blu-ray's DTS. As a matter of fact I just watched The Ugly Truth and The Time Traveler's Wife on Blu-ray which were both in DTS-HD. I went to the menu and chose the DTS-HD even though my HK can't decode it and it played it in the basic DTS.
  15. I just got my 3rd email telling me they are ready to ship my UMC, they need me to call with a cc number. I'm torn on waiting for all the bugs to be worked out or just take it as it is... I'll decide in the next few days I guess.
  16. If I crank it up on bass heavy music the woofers on the RF-7 will bottom out with the XPA-2 running them as full range speakers not using a sub. The first time they did it was when watching Master and Commander during the first fight scene. The woofers sounded like firecrackers they were popping so bad. I had the bass turned up a little and had the speakers set to large with no sub. I didnt make that mistake again. With bass heavy hip hop it has happened a few times as well.
  17. I would get either two XPA-1 monos or the XPA-2 for your RF-7s. Really the XPA-2 is more than you need. You'll bottom out the RF-7 with the XPA-2s 320 or so watts a channel.
  18. The PS3 doesnt have outputs for 5.1 so he isnt going to be gettig the new audio formats from Blu-ray. These are a must IMO. The UMC is a solid choice IMO.
  19. I am very interested in hearing what you think about the RF-83 vs the heritage speakers as well... Nice room btw, looks great!
  20. Sade - No Ordinary Love Marvin gaye - Let's Get it On http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bEtx2YTcD94 R. Kelly - Felling On Yo Booty Sister Hazel - This Kind of Love Seal - Kiss From a Rose Sade - Flow Nine Inch Nails - Closer http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cVgBuwM9zcQ Michael Buble - Fever That's a nice mix of different genres of sexy songs...
  21. I just got my email from Emotiva saying my UMC is ready to ship out... Now I'm trying to figure out how to fit it in the budget!
  22. To me Harman Kardon is the best sounding AVR I have heard with Klipsch speakers to date.
  23. Yeah $225 is an awesome deal, someone is getting hooked up!
  24. Yes how much are you asking for the RC-7 and what color is it? My friend that lives right down the street from me needs a black RC-7 to match his RF-7s.
  25. Hell Freezes Over is an awesome DVD. For Blu-ray Dave Mathews and Tim Reynolds Live at Radio City is incredible. Nine Inch Nails Beside You in Time is also a really good Blu-ray.
