Just wondering if it might be a factory defect or if there is something I can do to eliminate the hiss. I tried the analog connection and digital with no change. I did notice that in the digital domain the meter was reading up into the clip range. This thing is more complicated than I thought! Thanks Jeff ---------------- I just got my DEQ2496 yesterday. No hiss at all using analog through my tape loop. I suspect a defect in yours. I'm having a hard time finding out just how to use it! The manual is not much help.We need one of the experts out there to write a step by step procedure for us old guys Keith
  2. OK,I got the Behringer. Now,how do I hook it up to my Stereo 70 and Pas 2??? I got the Hosa XRF-105 and Hosa XRM 105 cables and the Behringer ECM8000 Measurement Mic. Once I hook it up what do I do with it! This is all new to me since the newest piece in my system are my 76 La Scala's!
  3. Thanks I went thru lots of 1500 grit! The paint is PPG DCC 1967 Ford,Raven Black with 6 coats of DCC Clear. I used two gallons of ureathane fill primer on two speakers! Here's a pic of the front.
  4. Pics of one of the La Scala's I've been working on since Oct. All grain has been removed and raw edges are smooth. Wish I could take a pic that show how they really look. They are smooth as glass.I have thirty years paint experiance and this was not easy! The reflection on top is from the wall behind. They are 1984 LSBB.
  5. Cartridges I have: (listed in order of how they sound in my room on my TD160) 1. Shure M95ED 2. Shure M97xE 3. Pickering XSV3000 4. Shure M91ED 5. Stanton 681 EEE 6. Empire RM50 7. Ortofon FF15XE MkII The M95ED and M97xE are very close. M95ED is more foregiving in terms of setup. It's tuff to beat the M97xE for the price they are selling for on Ebay . Hope this Helps!
  6. I can't find a Firestone "Pink" album that is not beat. I did score a mint "Blue" last week!
  7. Use a Thorens TD160 in my main system and a Yamaha YP-B4 in my second system.Use a bunch of different cartridges, this week my Sure M95ED is my favorite
  8. Dean: Very Nice!!! Where is your turntable???
  9. I like Svetlana EL 34's also and 7199 black plate RCA's

A SS Hafler 220 with a tube preamp sounds pretty darn good, not as good as all tubes. The "harsh' goes away with tubes and the bass is killer!
  11. Svetlana EL34's and 7199 RCA's are what I like best.

  13. A speaker that is not fully horn loaded would be Heresy!
  14. Look very close that's an "O" in front of aktron with an oak leaf in the middle of the "O"
  15. Oaktron does still exist and is part of Mitek which makes MTX speakers. I have a pair of 12" dual cones. The cones are blue. I have never put them in cabinets to see how they sound.
  16. During the week about an hour each night. Weekends average 5-6 hours per day.All is serious not background.
  17. I modified my Dynaco preamp to bypass the tone controls.
  18. My Heresy's are "Type:H-WO-12". Any idea what the number 12 means? They are 1974's
  19. I am a paint supervisor for Matsu****a Kotobuki (Panasonic). I would not recommend a full size HVLP for home use. Like the name says "High Volume Low Pressure". Most home compressors just don't make the volume of air required to run these. Best bet is a "Gravity Feed" HVLP touch up gun. Gravity fed so you can use higher viscosity coatings than with a siphon feed and they are easy to clean! I would recommend at least a 5 hp. compressor with a 50 gallon tank. Like this: http://www.binks.com/products/display5.asp
  20. My Hafler 220 doesn't even get started before I have to leave the room when it's driving my Heresy's! I say your preamp is the problem.
  21. Saw this on Craigslist. Thought someone may need one. Enclosure info Type - KCMR (Mahogany) STYLE - c FINISH - MR Serial # 1610 I'm not connected in anyway to the seller. http://portland.craigslist.org/ele/42142966.html
  22. Toshiba 3950 DVD player look here: http://www.audiosold.com/articles/toshmod.htm The 3950 and 3960 are pretty much the same
  23. Try a Toshiba 3960 or 3950 DVD Player. They can be had for around $80.00 new.
  24. I have 14 days to return it I hate being ripped off
  25. Just picked up a mint Harman Kardon 330B a the local thrift. Took it home and hooked it to my Scala's. WOW! This thing sounds pretty good. Not as good as the Hafler but very respectable. Plenty of power for the Scala's. It has a wood case that it slides into, pretty cool! I think it will stay. Oh, I paid $9.00
