  1. Wheelman, right on with the System of a Down rec! I love that CD, and I'm anxiously waiting for their follow-up, "Hypnotize." You know the lead singer is a medicinal marijuana patient who keeps jars of different strains in his fridge? Just thought that would be a facinating tidbit of info for ya there...
  2. Wow, it's out on rental already? Seems like just yesterday I saw the movie in theaters... It was a very decent movie. At first, I cringed at all the stereotypical racist remarks, but soon understood that no race or color was spared, and that the very point of the film was to tackle such taboo issues head-on, in direct light, so that we would be forced to deal with a very real issue in life. So I commend them for that. My favorite moment in the flim was when the Hispanic father discovered that his daughter...well...I won't spoil it. I'll just say it had to do with red cartridges.
  3. God!, that's such a hot looking car. I've wanted a Vette Z06 for years now, and that will be my next car as soon as I can afford to ditch my Explorer (albiet, heavily modified and fun). While many things have been improved upon (100hp up from the previous engine, anyone?), I gotta admit I still like the old bodystyle better. The Modena ripoff lights just irk me.
  4. Wow, this thread sure blew up in just a few days!
  5. This is really great to see so many PT fans here, and not just jazz and classical devotees!
  6. www.bettercables.com and www.catcables.com and www.cobaltcable.com are all excellent quality cables as well.
  7. Yup. The #1 rule in home theater is that you need a big screen. Big sound comes a close 2nd. But still 2nd.
  8. I'm going to see them on Oct. 22nd at the House of Blues here in LA.
  9. Did you actually take the time to list all those out, Grog??
  10. A "slow jam" is a ballad, usually referring to the R&B genre, although it's used nowadays to mean pop, rock, hiphop, etc.
  11. I agree on the phone thing. While it is a cool marketable feature to have an MP3 player in a phone, you'd drain the battery so fast using it as such that you'd hardly be able to make a full day's worth of calls without recharging the thing once or twice! I personally only use my iPod for plane trips, because I've never been one (even back in the Walkman and Discman days) to walk around the streets listening to music. I have to know my surroundings and know what's going on at all times. Plus, you can potentially miss some very funny conversations. And the gym I go to daily plays pretty damn good music as it is, so I don't need an MP3 player there either. Plus, even on the plane, I can only store one of my 20GB "playlists" on. It's not about storing your ENTIRE music collection, just what you want to listen to at that particular time/day. I guess my big problem is that I rip and download all my music at 320kbps. Because nothing less will suffice.
  12. 100Hz for me. I feel my SVS PB2+ is more capable of delivering upper-frequency bass than the RF-7's can. And setting the crossover to 80Hz is just too too low, and would require too much of the RF-7's.
  13. The 2.1's are killer, James. I own a set of the Promedia's for my laptop, and the sheer depth, fullness, and richness of the miniscule little things are something that must be heard to be believed. I would get the Promedia's in a heartbeat, and yes, save that extra $150 for a rainy day... ...or some extra vinyl.
  14. I use the Nitty Gritty 1.5FI. It's a good unit. Not the best, I know, but good enough to get the job done, and done well.
  15. If it was a desert island, I'd bring: Muse "Absolution" Radiohead "OK Computer" Avenged Sevenfold "City of Evil" Rachmaninoff Symphony No. 2 in C Minor Mile Davis "Kind of Blue" OR John Coltrane "Blue Train" If it was a deSSert island, I'd want: Cheesecake Factory's Strawberry Shortcake OR Marie Calender's Peach Cobbler.
  16. The size is definitely awesome, it's nice that it has color, and the flash-based memory is tres cool. But it's still only 2 or 4GB, which is peanuts for anyone with a real music collection. I'll stick with my 2nd gen. iPod and hold out until they have at least a 20GB iPod Nano.
  17. Artist/Song: Muse - "Absolution" Snow Patrol - "Run" Coldplay - "The Scientist" Death Cab For Cutie - "Expo '86" Killswitch Engage - "When Darkness Falls" Diana Krall - "Almost Blue" Radiohead - "Paranoid Android" Billie Holiday - "I'm A Fool To Want You" Nightwish - "Creek Mary's Blood" Avenged Sevenfold - "Seize The Day" The Snake The Cross The Crown - "The Field of Lus" Alkaline Trio - "Time To Waste" Dredge - "Bug Eyes" Miles Davis - "Freddie Freeloader" Rachmaninoff - "Symphony No. 2 in C Minor"
  18. The RC-3 would work, but the RC-35 is better matched in timbre and harmonal characteristic. I'm not sure what you mean but more "watts per channel" though? I think you meant a higher RMS rating?
  19. Scooter, what are your thoughts on Dream Theater, Nightwish, Hammerfall, Rhapsody, Muse, Avenged Sevenfold, Shadows Fall, maybe even Theater of Tragedy? I only ask because all of the above groups have some crossover similatities (though none are exactly like) to PT.
  20. DrWho/Mike, I just noticed you changed your signature dramatically. Care to share?
