  1. I'd buy that sucker just as a conversation piece.
  2. Christ, and here I thought my dual 15's were formiddable...
  3. If memory serves, bettercables (www.bettercables.com) makes cables in the 50ft vicinity as well. Look under their "Silver Serpent" cables.
  4. Great recommendation! There was a long thread on Porcupine Tree on the old forum, started by Scooterdog, where we were all saying how awesome they were. And yes, they are pretty much considered prog. rock, although I've seen them reviewed on some sites devoted to Metal.
  5. Some of the other guys are probably just not checking the forums daily, but they're around...somewhere...lurking under the bed...
  6. Killswitch Engage "The End of Heartache" - Hardrock/Metal CD. Pelican "The Fire In Our Throats Will Beckon The Thaw" - Progessive Instrumental Rock CD. Shadows Fall "The War Within" - Hardrock/Metal CD. Maximo Park "A Certain Trigger" - Rock LP. Six Feet Under Soundtrack.
  7. Yup, just like Shaolin Soccer, Kung-Fu Hustle is directed by, written by, and headlined by Stephen Chow, one of Hong Kong's biggest comedy stars. He used to be in a bunch of gangster/gambling movies (God of Gamblers) with Chow Yun Fat, waaaay back in the day, before anyone in the U.S. had heard of Chow Yun Fat, who is now synonymous with such action flicks as The Replacements, The Corruptor, and of course, Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon. A very talented man who looks far younger than his 40-something years of age, and a life-long practitioner of martial arts, many argue that this is Chow's genre-defying, career-defining work. It's hilarious, gripping, thrilling, intense, gut-wrenching, and heartbreaking, all at the same time! A note to those who haven't seen this film: you must, and I repeat MUST, watch this film in it's original language (Cantonese) with English subtitles. The nuance and tonal hilarity simply is not done justice when viewed over a language dub.
  8. Supposedly, all the Reference series do not need oiling. I remember it specifically states such a fact in the manual. However, there's no harm in doing it, I suppose. I oil mine once a year.
  9. The sound of the USC Trojans thrashing the Hawaii Warriors.
  10. Hey, when you're among friends, who cares about age! Nah, we won't corrupt you. But if you want, we can step outside and spark up a doobie, ala Kevin Spacey and Wes Bentley in "American Beauty."
  11. Ooooh, I'm jealous. I love the F250. I plan to eventually own 3 cars: Corvette Z06 Mercedes SL65 AMG F-350 "lifted to the moon." Funny, your stock gears were 4:10. That's what I had to mod mine to, from 4:56, I believe it was...
  12. I'm down. We had something similar to this not too long ago at Andy Kubicki's pad, the attendees including j4knee, pirahna, and calblacksmith. Good times. Good beer and wine-infused times... The only 3 things we need to make this a success are equipment, food, and forum members.
  13. Waddup Steve. Well, prices for 87 Octane range from $2.89 to $3.15 around here. It's funny, I think it's cheaper here in Cali than most places in the South. I know my brother, who's down in Atlanta, said prices are about $5 a gallon! Craziness! I drive a 97 Ford Explorer, but between the performance enhanced 5.0L V8 (exhaust, intake, mass airflow sensor, headers, etc.) and the dozens of offroad modifications I've made to it (lift kit, tires, gears, etc.), the beast is a gas-guzling machine.
  14. I have a 24-gallon tank, get 300 miles on a full tank, and pay about $3 per gallon here in LA. That's $72 a week just for gas!!!
  15. Polks are great speakers. I remember going to a friend's home freshman year of college and us sitting down to his dad's Polk home theater with the movie "Twister." Man, were we blown away! I had actually heard of Polk long before I'd heard of Klipsch, and at one point wanted Polks as my first speakers.
  16. But how to make them show up in the post?
  17. I have 2 full HT systems, one of which is integrated with all my strict 2-channel components (SACD player, CD player, turntable, etc.). Does that count as 2 or 3 systems?
  18. "The Real Thing" - Faith No More - from The Real Thing "Under A Glass Moon" - Dream Theater - from Images and Words "God is in the Radio" - Queens of the Stone Age - from Songs for the Deaf "Fake Plastic Trees" - Radiohead Griff, I love your taste! I've never heard of The Real Thing, but Dream Theater, Radiohead, and QOTSA!!! You know how hard it is to find people who are able to list those 3 bands in the same sentence???
  19. Hey Joe, I was pretty much in your boat about a year back too. Casettes were the only source of music when I was born. Anyway, my starter TT was a Music Hall MMF-5, which ran me about $550. I did a lot of research and talked to many of my connects, and the unanimous vote was for that table. I'm very happy with it, and will only upgrade when I have upwards of $2000, because I feel that's how much is necessary before anything could sound significantly better than this Stereophile recommended, dual-plinth, glass plattered, Aboslute Sound Editor's Choice TT.
  20. I MUST also add this fantastic album I just picked up. Good lord it's more addicting than crack cocaine smothered in nicotine and dipped in chocolate... Killswitch Engage "The End of Heartache" - heavymetal CD that alternates between truly blistering metal to melodic emo.
  21. Death Cab For Cutie "Plans" - Indierock CD.
  22. It's a fun and exciting anime, although not nearly what the original was. I would recommend Appleseed over Ghost In The Shell 2, and they were made by the same creator anyhow.
