  1. Try www.swinginlovers.com. Modern big band sound. Awesome on the Klipsch. Yes, they are from France. Email me if you need help getting the CD.
  2. Ut Oh. Sounds like you must be getting some Non-Klipsch speakers. I never heard anyone say an amp couldn't drive their Klipsch.
  3. http://paddysherlock.freewebspace.com//Mainpage.htm Here is a link to the bandleader's website. The Swingin Lover's CD titles are there on the "music" tab. Something happened to their website over the last couple of days. It was up and running when I posted above on this band. Anyhow, an excellent CD and a top notch recording. Anyone and evreyone would love this. Email me if you have trouble. This is worth the effort. By the way, the CD you want is the one with the black background and charicatures of the band members. It is their latest.
  4. Check out a band called the "Swingin Lovers". A jazz/blues band reminiscent of the big band era but with a modern spin. All young guys (nice horn section), very intoxicating horns/vocals/standup bass (and I'm a rocker). I saw these guys at the Meridian Hotel in Paris the second week in May. http://www.swinginlovers.com/ I grabbed their CD while I was there, and I keep playing it over and over. Lots of short songs that end too soon. There CD puts the Klipsch horns through their paces. You will be thrilled to pick this CD up.
  5. Amy, Is it possible for you to place a warning into a thread before you simply wipe it out? This way, forum members can "learn" your level of tolerance. I'm reading some of these posts you just made, and they really don't read well. Sorry. I hardly ever speak up here, but I read every day and night and have for a long time. I understand your mission, but please consider the approach. Thanks
  6. Anyone remember the Outlaws? I think we can add them to the list too.
  7. I give a heavy second to BOSTON. But Molly Hatchet wasn't far behind. Molly Hatchet also played terrribly live. I saw them several times. Bad Bad.
  8. Yes, the ipod allows various lossless formats.
  9. Grateful Dead playing on Gary's system
  10. Craig, Nice looking unit for sure. Do you have any pictures of the inside? What type of transformers and tubes are you using? Thanks
  11. Gary, I read the Dead thread. You certainly didn't need any help there. You are a certified dead head. You better up that play percentage!!!
  12. Congrats Gary, I guess you are building a cornwall museum like Smilin'. I am sure that you have some butt kickin' sound in your house. Congrats again. Just got back into town, and as I can see, your mission continues.
  13. Mark, You mention the peach is coming out soon. Cherry amp later this summer. I am interested in the Peach because I'm finished with vinyl. Is there any introductory pricing? And could you describe the characteristics of the Cherry? Is there any combination pricing? Thanks
  14. Guys. All set. I found the brochure that came with my LaScalas, finally. I just wanted to take a quick look at the difference between corns and LaScalas. I recently reversed my systems and now have the LaScalas upstairs and the corns in the basement. Turns out to have been a great move soundwise. But the LaScalas lack the bottom below 60Hz. that the corns have, and drop out much earlier than the corns below that. It was very noticeable in the room after having the corns there for a couple of years. I used the DBX-1231 to sharpen up the bottom nicely and with the Scott 222, it's very nice for now. Thanks
  15. The one that comes in the Heritage brochure that shows the response of each of the models on the Heritage line.
  16. Anyone know where I can find it? Can you just paste it into a post if you have it? Thanks allot
  17. Well guys, did the testing last night and for me it's the 8 ohm tap on the 222/LaScalas system. It sounded thin on the 4 ohm tap, just not as good. Even at louder volumes not as good. I started by just changing 1 speakre so I could usd the balance control to hear the differences. I don't what is so different about our systems that most of you guys seem to prefer the 4 ohm tap. It was easily clear that 8 ohms was better here though. In fact when I heard the system at first, I can remember "that sound" and that I had tried this last year and been through the whole thing already. Anyhow, thanks for the great info on the fundamentals here.
  18. Max, I do have some huge hard drives. But the biggest advantage for me would be that I can have my sources for my basement system on my PC which happens to be connected to that system, and my CD collection upstairs with my livingroom system. Therefore not carrying the music around the house.
  19. Thanks guys. I will try the 4 ohm taps and see how it sounds. Nice explanations.
  20. Will it hurt anything if I change just 1 speaker to the 4 ohm tap and leave the other on the 8 ohm tap temporarily? Then, I could hear the difference between the 2 Channels. The Scott integrateds have nice controls for balancing the channels and should work nicely to help determine the better tap.
  21. To Mark Deneen, Excellent explanations, just like my professors back in the day. However, what sound characterisitics will I notice changing my LaScalas or cornwalls from the 8 ohm tap to the 4 ohm tap. I have Scott integrateds. I am guessing that from what I have read here, the speakers flucuate more above 4 Ohms than below. Thus playing into the sweet spot of a tube amp. Or maybe better stated, playing into its capabilities. So are you saying that you can get better sound on the 4 ohm tap with Klipsch speakers and tube amps? What are your experiences in percieved sound? Thanks for any additional info here.
  22. I would say you need more than just cornwalls. LaScalas would work nice in a large room like that. Or of course the mighty KHorn.
  23. Max, Sounds like the potential exists to at least record at a high resolution whether the results are left on the PC or then transferred to another media type. For me, upsampling and leaving on the PC might not be a bad idea. Let us know all your results. Enjoy.
