In the very beginning, during the "Death of Sauron" story, the bass is loud and very low when he "dies". Also - if you can get "The Missing" (not a bad movie unto itself) it has two trailers - Hellboy and Spiderman 2, that are socked full of bass. Kick your sub off and see how they sound through your center.

That's about the most unbelievable setup I've ever seen. Q-Man is a Klipsch God!

I have used one before - but for the life of me I cannot remember where I got it - Any of the freebies should do the trick. The one I used before allowed you to publish it on a website. I can find out tomorrow at work.

What I hear on good DVD-A or DTS recordings is sound that is so natural that you'd believe the performance in taking place in your listening space. The SACD's, however, don't seem to provide that full "live" sound - they merely sound to me like someone seperated the channels and the sound is very localized, not "full" range. Granted - as stated before, there seems to be a lot more emphasis on the mixing and mastering of these recordings, and that makes them superior to standard CD's, but I don't think they hold a candle to the DVD-A format. I also like the fact that most of us already have the means to play these discs without having to buy another piece of hardware.

Based on recommendations from this thread - I bought the Eagles "Hell Freezes Over" today. All I can say is - DAMN! The sound quality in DTS is ASTOUNDING. I cannot believe this level of sound quality is possible on a live recording. All I can say is - DAMN! Euell

I personally like DTS, even in music recordings. I have never experienced such realism - it sounds like you are sitting between band members with the the studio monitors dispersed around the room. It's incredible! And yes - the opening scene of Gladiator is a great example of DTS vs Dolby. Also - The battle scenes in Pearl Harbor are another great way to compare. When the zeros are flying by the stationary camera - it's phenomenal! Euell

Thanks to all who replyed. My son and his roomate have decided to attempt to make a demo disc of the best scenes for HT. Just watched "The Missing". It is an excellent movie and the "spacial" sounds when they are in the open range is phenominal. Had a friend over - several times he looked back to see where those nature sounds were coming from! Euell

I have used Nerovision express - I have even made the chapters - but only with AVI and MPEG movies. I have never disected a DVD clip - but I am researching this as we "speak". Euell
