  1. You got me here. But are you recommending?
  2. Thats too bad,I had a similar expierience a few years back. I saw Candlebox at the Palmer School of Cyropractic medicine in thier gymnasium that seats about 1000.Well there were about 5000 in there, literally standing room only, and a mosh pit going...CRAZY. I think the band saw how small the place was and turned it up.I meen really BAD loud,so loud I could not make out the words to any song and my ears rang for 2 days. Greg It's still pretty cool to be so close when you're in a small venue like that. Unless of course, you're 4000 people over capacity. The state fair show was not sold out by any means, so it was pretty easy to wander close to the stage. Hearts and thoughts they fade, fade away. Is your player faster than minr LOL,that song just got over I can't believe it's time to pick something new already!

  4. Being from the Chicago area, that sounds just a little to close to Cheeborger, Cheeborger!!!!!!!!! to me! No fries, cheeps.
  5. I got to see VR at the Illinois State Fair this past summer. It was the worst sounding concert I have ever been to. They were set up in the infield facing the sheltered, metal, bleachers. They were loud, but it was painful. However, they put on a great show. They all looked good, and they mixed in some great STP and GnR favorites while playing pretty much the whole VR release.
  6. Are those 2 X 18's in the same house?
  7. Maybe about six Guinness ago, I might have stood a chance. Velvet Revolver?
  8. Have it and its goin in the player right now I was enjoying XM Squiz, but you're on! Mine's goin' in too. Yes, forgot how good this one is,been awhile! Greg got an easy one: a song called "Dirty little thing" and the band is..... I like the way vs. is mixed. Lot's of bottom. Corns likey. I would have to disagree with the easy part. I want to say STP, but I don't think that is right.

  10. Pearl Jam-Glorified G from the vs. album. Their second album, and their best effort in my opinion. If you like hard rockin' grunge at it's best, this would be one to check out.
  11. Bump This one is tougher. It's grungey! are they from Seattle? Where else?
  12. Carpet is fat and calorie free. (Did I post that out loud?)[]
  13. Bump This one is tougher. It's grungey!
  14. That would be AC-DC "this aint no party, this aint no disco, this aint no foolin around" Greg Talking Heads-Can't remember the song title[8o|]!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  15. That's not a drunken Errol Flynn, it's a medicated Keith Richards!!!!
  16. Got a gun.... Fact I got two. That's okay man, cause I love God. Glorified version of a pellet gun.
  17. For those about to rock.......................FIRE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  18. I gotta weigh in for the SVS. I had the same "overpowering" concern with my modest KG setup, but it has turned out great. I have all of the KG's set to small and I continue to be impressed with the overall sound. I, however, am still hoping for that shaking of the foundation you mentioned. Now, let's talk about what we can do about that 80's rock.......................................................[][]
  19. has anybody ever tried a "decorator" style grill? A nicely finished piece of quality wood with the holes cut out is what I was thinking about that could be swapped out with the originals. Might make for a nice change of pace? What do you guys think?
  20. I am finding some new stuff I like on the DirecTV (XM now) music channels.
  21. I smelled it in the minivan all the way home from Des Moines after purchasing my new to me CW's. Smelled like......................................................................victory.
  22. It has been about a month now, and I think I am ready to try and put my joy into words. It all started about 8(?) months ago with a reply to a reply to a post by another forum member requesting someone with Cornwalls for sale in the Midwest. I had begun looking for Cornwalls a few months before, so I quickly contacted forum member Rick Tate to inquire about the CW's he indicated he had and would be willing to part with. The other guy never replied, so I had successfully secured "dibs." Turns out they were exactly what I was looking for. CW II's in OO w/risers, and super minty. Rick and I were quickly able to come to terms. He is a super nice guy and was very easy to deal with. The problem was he (and obviously the CW's) were in Kansas City, and I live just outside of Chicago. I was not really interested in making the drive all the way to KC(8 hrs one way), and Rick was willing to meet me. We agreed on Des Moines as the meeting place. However, it took a while to make our schedules come together for the exchange. It finally happened the week between Christmas and New Years. So, I took all the seats out of the family minivan and headed out to Des Moines. Flying solo (the family still thinks I have a screw loose, although they now are enjoying the music), armed with coffee, water, and a few snacks to sustain life, I set out on my 5 hr trip. Rick and I had set the meeting place as a slot car racing track in southern Des Moines that Rick wanted to check out post exchange. We met about 1 pm and made the exchange. They were everything Rick promised. I could not wait to get home. The van smelled of freshly oiled Heritage all the way home. And while the trip there was about 5.5 hours, I somehow made it home in under 5.[] I have them hooked up to the first integrated amp I ever purchased. A 1983 vintage Yamaha 40W. Impressions? These are really the first 3 ways I have ever spent a significant amount of time with. I bought my KG3's new in 1991, and my roommate in college had KG4's. Both sets I still think are great, but the CW's definitely take it to the next level. I am hearing things in my CD's I never new existed. Particularly some percussion instruments are so prominent it borders on annoying, but in a good way. Plenty of great base, and imaging that makes the two speakers disappear and just become one. Obviously, I am very happy. Eventually, following some extensive work we are about to do on our house, these will become the anchor of my flagship basement HT. One of the conditions of letting the SVS into the house was that it would eventually move to the basement. For now, I am really enjoying getting to know my CD collection again in 2 channel mode. Thanks to Rick Tate for: 1. Taking such good care of these beauties. 2. Being willing to part with them for a fair price. 3. Being so easy to deal with. 4. Being willing to meet me half way to make the exchange happen. Here is a pic of them in their new home:
  23. Pappa's bar-b-que. Other than that not much. My 4 days there was the longest month of my life. I hope the friend I stayed with doesn't see this. At least he has Klipsch for his HT.
  24. I can't speak to this particular wine situation, but I am a big Costco fan mainly because they do not just offer cheap stuff. Their other products are typically very high in quality. They are very high on the value meter. You know, the best you can get for a reasonable price. Sound familiar?[]
  25. I think my system listing makes it clear how I feel about my Tivo. I have never tried just a plain DVR. My favorite is when I accidentally am sitting in front of the TV when a show I want to see is on. I will not start watching the show for at least 10 minutes to avoid the commercials. Also, it is like you are stealing time. An extra 10 minutes that normally would have been filled watching those lame commercials!
