  1. Hello, I have a pair of Klipsch rf-7's in maple finish for sale. The cabinets are in superb condition. A couple of the drivers have some dimpling on the dustcaps but the speakers work 110%. The grills are in great shape as well. I have the boxes for the speakers and the grills. these are from 2001 going by the serial # and they are 161 and 167. I am asking 800.00 or best offer and due to the weight of these speakers I prefer to sell them locally. I am located in 03865,NH.
  2. where abouts in mass are you? im in sothern nh and would love to hear the k-horns.
  3. I knew that THT could pound!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!![<)] Yes that is hot glue around the driver, i applied it where i found leaks and got rid of them completely. So absolutley NO leaks!
  4. THE DRIVER IS WIRED UP PROPERLY. It was checked for leaks before it was sold and none were found(using the tubing method). Maybe a wire popped out of its connection during transportation? this sub made very powerful bass in my setup running off 1 channell of an old onkyo stereo receiver. Having it 18" off the wall made it too large for my space 15x18 and i also couldnt put it in the spot it wanted to be in by doing the crawl test due to room setup. My frame of reference for very powerful bass is 2 SVS16-46cs+'s/samsom 1000 watt amp. also have heard dual E-D A7S-450's.
  5. 1 channel of an old onkyo stereo receiver, admitedly i never got it set up perfectly but it was ok the way i had it. it is a tht 36x36x24 and rolls off at 20 hz by design. i had played test tones up to around 15 volts input (*20,22,24,26,28,30 so on) and it would make me dizzy.
  6. rear wall in my room but yours may be different.
  7. i beleive you aim the mouth(the end with the opening) into the corner aprrox 15-18 inches. i had it up against the wall(side of cabinet with the driver compartment door) with the opening about 18 inches from the other corner wall.

    dvc wiring

Hello, Does anyone have any close up pics of how to wire up a dvc driver in parallel? I have a dayton 15' dvc driver in a tuba ht and cant figure out how to wire it up. thanks in advance, GIG.
  9. Wow hard to beleive those were my la scalas at one time, Great work! can these be seen at the store?
  10. For me the La scalas really excelled in the mids to highs vs the cornwalls, but i really like bass and the la scalas are really lacking in that dept. vs cornwalls. To me the cornwalls were a better all around speaker for different types of music, kind of a jack of all trades. The La scalas really shined on jazz music and female vocals. I really enjoyed miles davis, coltrane and the like with the La scalas and female voices were so real it was scary sometimes. Allison Krause, fisher 500-c and La Scalas... still gives me goosebumps thinking about that combo. The Cornwalls were also very good at Jazz and classical type music, just not as good as the Scalas, IMO.. For good ol rock and roll with kick drums and Movies that go boom(which i really like) i'd take Cornwalls everytime. And as effortless as the Cornwalls seemed The La scalas were even more effortless,(must be that 104.5 sensitivity !!) My wife says that the music really carried out into the whole house A LOT more so with the La scalas than the Cornwalls did and that was even being played at the same volumes 75-85 db. The La scalas can really crank when you want them to, just that they are bass shy when they are doing it. I guess it really comes down to personal preference and the room set-up you have. For me the next step is KLIPSCHORNS!!! best of both the scala and the cornie.[<)]
  11. If his experience is anything like mine was He is going to yell: WHERE DID ALL THE BASS GO?????? LOL.[]
  12. Hello, My history with these speakers dates back to may of 2007. a guy in derry nh had them for sale and wanted 1500 for all four. i called him and went to see them(derry is only a few miles from me). they were stored under a deck overhang and covered with a tarp. we had had a lot of rain and flooding at the time so i was wary of water damage. he took the cover off them and i saw the blue paint and started laughing. he then told me a story(lies) about how they were 15 years old and he was original owner. i pointed out the date code of 1975 stamped into the wood and on the labels and he quickly rescinded that story and told me a new one(probably still lies) about they were his brothers and he was in a band, thats why they had the wheels and handles and edging on them. i looked them over and at the time i had very little knowledge of klipsch speakers . under all that paint the cabinets looked like they may be ok, and they were consecutively numbered. but the crossovers looked nasty on a couple of them and the midhorns looked crappy as well. i offered him 500 for a pair and he refused, saying he wanted 750 for a pair. i told him to let me know if he changed his mind. he never called. they were for sale for a while longer and then the listing dissapeared, so i assumed they got sold or he gave up on selling them. Then last year i see a listing for a pair of k-horns in lowell mass and me and a buddy go over to see the k-horns. the guy(different guy from seller in derry)opens his garage door and SURPRISE the SMURFSCALAS are sitting there!!!. i laughed and told him my story of the SMURFSCALAS and that they were semi famous on this forum. we went upstairs and checked out the k-horns, very nice, but black in color. My buddy asks about the SMURFSCALAS and next thing you know we are loading them up and taking them to NH. My friend had good intensions of stripping them and refinishing them but never really had the time to do it. So he put them up for sale and now you have them, great job so far by the way. Its good to see they are really nice under that ugly paint after all. So thats my entry into the legend of the SMURFSCALAS. Have fun with them and please keep us updated. I think some kind of blue stripe or other blue marking would be a great idea. May the Legend of the SMURFSCALAS LIVE ON...........................................[]
  13. the smurfscala in jtn's avatar are indeed the ones now owned by helioo1. my buddy sold them to the new owner a couple of months ago. The legend of the SMURFSCALAS lives on.........[]
  14. Nice receiver!! I used to have a 930 as well as a 330,430,630,730. the fm tuner on the 930 was excellent and it sounded very nice with my cornwalls. Enjoy it.[Y]
  15. I grew up on the reservation at perry maine, how about, Algonquin Sound Solutions or Benton's Obsessed Sound Engineering D'oh!! []
  16. i just did the same and when i click on the link it brings me to a interworx site that has an oldaudiokarma, org link. when i click on that i get a warning screen that says something about a certificate error HMMMMMMMM..........
  17. i havnt been able to get in since last night whats goin on?[*-)]
  18. i use a lowly klipsch ksc-c1 as my center channel between cornwall fronts and it does a great job for home theater.
  19. i use 3.1's as rear surrounds with my cornwall fronts and they do a great job.
  20. Are there any Klipsch forum members in the new england area that are also audiokarma members going to the fall fest in lancaster, mass today?
  21. well i feel better now about the turn on fireworks[] Does yours have the black face? the serial # on mine is 0209. and its a silver face unit. do you have any info as to what the changes were from the 200c to 200cx and what made them fire starters.
  22. when you mention "sparked" what would you be refering to exacly? Just wondering because when i flip the power switch there is a blue spark and a snapping sound from inside the case. does yours do this? i read in the stereophile review that this is normal, but maybe that was before they realized there was an issue?
  23. I just picked one of these up locally. did not know a whole lot about it other than it sold new for 1650.00 and is a heavy beast at 70 pounds. 200 wpc at 8 ohms/400 wpc at 4 ohms. the owner was running a pair of apogee speakers which he said were very power hungry and the amp powered them extremely well, never any problems. after i got home i did a little research and found that this amp can possibly cause fires!! Now im not so sure about using it. i checked dc output at the speaker terminals after a 30 min warmup and i got 9 millivolts left channel and 29-34 millivolts right channel, should this be okay? or should i get rid of it. im looking to go tube preamp/ss amp into my cornwalls.
  24. So thats what that sound was!! I'm in plaistow, nh and i think i heard it loud and clear,LOL[H]
