  1. I don't have any idea whether it is true or not, but I seem to remember hearing that some of the very first sunfire cubes built exploded while being tested. They do have dual active woofers right??? So I guess maybe they could explode if the cabinets were poorly constructed, but that's all I can think of in regard to this thread.

NO WAY! The synergy series doesn't even come close to the performance or quality of the reference. If you have the money, don't even hesitate. GO REFERENCE! The rf-35's are amazing speakers. You will not be dissapointed with the reference. Even the cosmetic looks alone are worth the extra $ over the synergy. But combine that with the amazing upgrade in sonic quality, and you've got yourself a definate winner. There should be no dilema here. If the extra money is not an issue, then the reference is the way to go. end of discussion. EDIT: To pistol pete's credit, as his setup includes the RF3's and RC3, maybe he mixed up the model numbers?
  3. double post... HOW THE HECK?!?
  4. what type of connectors do they have. If I were to buy a pair, I wouldn't want to buy elaborate dj cables and have to work out some kind of converter from the ouputs on my denon to the jacks on the speakers. Thanks.
  5. I think that component wise, klipsh has hit the hammer on the head with the new reference line. They are slightly less efficient, but they seem a little more reserved than the previous line (In a good way). I do miss the real wood veneers, but for those on a budget, (like myself) it seems a small trade off for the affordability of such high quality speakers. I just can't say enough about the smooth response all the way across the range of the new reference line. I only own the rf15's, but I also spend hours in the local Soundtrack store, playing with the 25's 35's rf5's and the rf7's. They have a full ref. 7 7.1 theater there, which is absolutely astounding. Don't get me wrong, I would love to have a pair of RF-7's, but for me, the price to performance ratio doesn't seem to quite add up.
  6. I think you would have a very difficult time TRYING to break the feat on these speaks. The feat are VERY heavey plastic. If I were you, this would be the least of my worries in choosing a new pair of speakers. Go with what sounds best.
  7. Or, You could sell one rsw15, buy two more rf7's, and get the svs that could outperform both of the rsw's you are currently running. Thus, more bass than before, and bigger surrounds for the same price. just a thought...

Many people have also like the rc3II better than the rc35. ---------------- I disagree, I think the rf 35's have a slightly smoother sound than the 3II's. The high range is not quite as piercing as the 3II's can get. The crossovers are different, and depending on your preferences of course, The rf35's can be better.

I had to go through 3 pair before I got a set that weren't scratched and every one of them had the feet already attached. Is that something new? ---------------- It is on the new 2003 line ie. RF15,25,&35. They are removeable with screws securing them through the bottom of the speaker. By the way, you had to go through three pair of what? speakers? or feat?

I am keeping it for my bedroom in the new place, but now that i'll have a common room with a new HDTV, i am going to upgrade to the RF-35 series all the way around. Could i keep this downfiring subwoofer, or should i buy the reference subwoofer that is suggested with this system? I believe it costs around $750. What is the difference between these 12" subs, and will it be really noticable if i keep this cheaper downfiring 12" sub? ---------------- I own the rw12 and I know for a fact that it will blow the ksw12 away. I also own the rf15's and can't imagine having anything less for the sub. The retail is $650 but you should be able to get it for much less.
  12. I own the rf-15's and am very pleased. I can only assume that the rf-35's are even better! I would say go for it. The 15's meet my needs, but then who bases any purchase on NEED these days? I love them... and wouldn't buy any other brand.

    Troy

-------------- I'd wondered why it is not called a Greek Horse. Perhaps it is that the Trojans made the blunder. -------------- The greeks transferred ownership of the horse to the trojans, thus making it the trojan's horse or just trojan horse.
  14. Hey! It's a hot thread. A lot of views and very little info...(sadly) I'm still ragging on my friend to try and get a little showdown.

    guess who?

This looks like a good pointless thread to make my 100th post on... No offense intended, I love the very true to life portrait. Just a couple thousand more posts and a few hundred more hours of life spent on the forum and I'll be as well-known as the ear. But wait... how many posts will ear have by then? I'm always one (okay, more like one thousand) step(s) behind.
  16. I have the rw12, and as far as linking the two subs together, it sounds like you nailed it. The auto-off function on the rw10 should take effect after 15 minutes of inactivity. All I can think of is that you have the power switched to on AND the other chrome switchy thing set to ON instead of AUTO. Just double check that.
  17. In this month's issue of maximum pc they did a speed test pitting the x800 xt against the 6800 ultra. Results are as follows (all in frames per second): Test Program 6800 x800 radeon 9800xt Halo 35.03 59.75 28.1 Far Cry 62 65.8 53 UT 2003 flyby 261 275.5 127.3 Aquamark 3D 63536 63487 45857 3Dmark2003 game2 95 88.5 45 3Dmark2003 game4 62.8 71.2 37.4 " pixel shader 2.0 156.4 121 157.2 So as you can see, the x800 won all of the real world tests while th 6800 won the theoretical benchmarks. Just some more info to help make your decisions. -edit- wow that doesn't look at all like the pretty table that I made... what is up with this software???
  18. Yeah... it is somewhat of an htpc, but it was originally designed to be a console for pc games.(kind of an oxymoron isnt it?). If you're really looking for an htpc, you could build a better equipped one for way less, and I think you can still buy that neat looking case.
  19. I have the rw-12, and I use just a regular rca cable without the y adapter at the end, and it works perfectly. try adjusting the lfe level or subwoofer level in your receiver set-up menu. You might need to increase the output signal from your receiver. I know that you don't NEED a y adapter. I have one, but don't use it because it makes absolutely no difference.
  20. hey middlecreekguy. Do you know a guy named GI56 in MOH? Just wondering... He's a friend of mine and has a similar gaming schedule to yours.

    E3 Begins today

The Electronic entertainment expo begins today in Los Angeles (I think). I'm really looking forward to seeing coverage on Half Life 2 and Halo 2. Anyone else looking for anything special?
  22. Thanks guys. I'll keep trying to line up a shootout and let you know how it turns out.
  23. Yeah... I wanted to do a side by side test, but for some reason my friend with the infinity doesn't want to compare his to mine. I wonder why? Oh well, I can't think of anyone who doesn't find the copper woofers at least a little intimidating. In my opinion the rw12 is better than the infinity, but I was just looking for some extra material to tell my friend to convince him the of the same. Comprendes?
  24. Thanks 007 considering The svs pci 25-31 doesn't go quite as low as the rw12 and is the ONLY svs sub in the same price braquet as the RW12 or infinity. Also, I asked for a comparison or input from someone who has heard either of the subs... NOT an "I know better than you, get an svs" statement. I have already considered svs so I am looking for opinions on the two subs in the thread title.
