  1. Seems one can almost count on the fact that anything decided one day, can almost certainly turn over in days following. I'm not even sure if there is one single thing in this hobby of ours that can be taken for granted, or counted as a given. Yesterday, I was cleaning up my mess from 4 days of trials by wire. I had pretty much decided to leave the magnet wire in place until I could try Risch's Cross Connect. I did end up putting 2 strands of 19 gauge on the woofers instead of just the one. I thought the bass sounded a little more developed with the additional strand in place. I was cleaning all of the cables, trying to decide what I would be willing to sell. I reached over for one of the Silvers, and rolling it up, was again dumbfounded that it had performed so poorly in comparsion to the solid core copper. I then started drifting, and began to think about how poorly biwiring also sounded on the Apollos. What is it about an amplifier that makes it care about these things? I was now holding the four silver cables in my hand, and thought that it would have been nice to have 8 of them, so I could have tried biwiring with all silver -- instead of just either the woofers, or the horns. It was at this point that I thought of the obvious. Fool that I am, after I finished cleaning the room up, I went back and rewired using the Silvers on just the positive post of each driver, and used the magnet wire on the negatives. Oh baby, you talk about something completely euphoric. Evidently, biwiring works with the Apollos, as long as the cables on the positves are identical. In the pic, you'll notice the blue interconnects. I bought these later in the day. These are .9999 silver over copper, with locking RCA plugs. You'll also notice the extra length on the set running between the AE-3 DJH and Apollos. This was by design. Straight silver interconnects were out of my price range, but the additonal air, cleanliness, and coherency -- lead me to believe the silver over the copper was doing its job. Anyone need some nice, like new, Monster 550i interconnects? 1 meter, 2 meter lengths available.
  2. Wait till you figure those shipping charges. A set of Heresies can land on your front step for a little over $500. By the time you get done with the Cornwalls, it will be double that amount. I really think the only downside with the Heresies is that to get good low end output, they really have to be on the floor -- which is really not the best place for them if you want really good imaging. They do sound excellent though.
  3. Packing should be done in such a fashion as to provide adequate protection from normal to semi-rough handling. No amount of packing material will give adequate protection when UPS decides to throw a package from a moving truck. If the amp had not been abused by UPS, it would have been delivered in good condition. Also, the seller refunded your money, which I consider amazing. He could have told you this problem was between you and UPS. Believe it or not -- but I think this guy deserves an excellent feedback rating.
  4. Both formats will survive. DVD-A will succeed in the multi-channel arena, catering to those already comfortable and exposed to 'DVD'. This technology has already been accepted by 'joe six-pack', so anything with 'DVD' in the title -- can be successfully marketed to the masses. SACD will continure to cater to the high-end, with it's strength being superior 2-channel reproduction (no fold down). I own the 9000es.
  5. Currently Fuel Stone Temple Pilots Linkin Park In days past The Moody Blues The Beatles Genesis, including most of Gabriel's solo stuff Pink Floyd, including most of Gilmour's solo stuff Led Zeppelin Journey (Greg Rolle) Rush Todd Rungren Uriah Heep This list could go on a ways. These were all on vinyl -- long gone now. I think I just got bored with most of it. Only The Moody Blues, some Beatles, selected Genesis, PF, Journey, Rush, and Rungren have been replaced with CD's. Most of these are premium recordings, 20 to 24 bit -- and a few are Mobile Fidelity issues. Certainly surprised to see that Clu and myself have identical taste in music. I think some of these newer bands are excellent -- and Fuel is definitely serious stuff -- great lyrics.
  6. You know Malcom, to my utter shame, I have not even taken the backs of them yet to see. I'll open them up and take a peak when I get off work tonight (midnight).
  7. All the RF-7's are the same. There have been no changes made in the design. The only anomolie were the ones sent out with the wrong power rating printed on the back sticker. They were supposed to say 250 watts, but these said 150. I am a proud owner of one of these blessed freaks.
  8. Craig, I must have been out of my mind to make that crack. Actually, you're one of the best spelers I no.
  9. I wanted to modify my post to include the used options, but you covered it. It's sometimes hard to remember that all who post here do not frequent eBay or AudiogoN.
  10. AES is owned by Cary. It allows Dennis Had to sell without violating long term agreements with distributors of the Cary products. In other words -- he can sell these online. You don't the get the fancy asthetics of the Cary gear, but you get the guts. I'm sure this amp sounds very good. This nifty little piece has some other fine benefits as well... "The SE-1 Signature is extremely dynamic, has tight bass, and offers all the midrange sweetness of the standard SE-1. The output impedance is lower on the signature and will handle a much wider range of real world loudspeakers. The SE-1 Signature will drive just about any loudspeaker on the market with a SPL rating of 89dB or higher and an impedance range of 4 to 12 Ohms."
  11. I think we need to send Columbo...I mean Clipped, and I want to see the location on a Geological Survey Map to validate it's existence. Satallite imagery would also be helpful. This place could just be a disfigurement of someone's imagination.
  12. Ad with pictures is on the 2-channel forum.
  13. We know you can read you turkey, but you can't spell worth a sh!t:) You be damn good with a soldering gun though -- so who cares!! Put me on the list!
  14. They're not that bad, just the flapping sound the woofer makes and some damn screeching sound when you turn them up -- aren't they supposed to sound that way? Actually, I'll never live down dogging Heritage. I guess I get the Idiot's Choice Award. They are a wonderful sounding speaker. The Cornwalls should be fun.
  15. These would technically be the 1.5's, with I believe, the newer drivers. They do have the plastic resin horns, and are birch plywood, and not MDF. Cut and paste the link below and put it in the URL Address bar of your browser. If you click on it, it doesn't link -- at least not for me. http://forums.klipsch.com/idealbb/view.asp?topicID=29049&sessionID={B82B9107-EF1F-4450-A686-0A41FA69E53C}
  16. Christmas...I think everyone's broke:)
  17. "Seller" oriented? Sounds more like "Felony" oriented to me. I think my future purchases on eBay will be escrow based.
  18. Well, they probably won't sound to good on those Scalas of yours, I heard a nasty rumor that you use really crappy cables.
  19. It's always nice to know the choir is listening, and not just making that awful noise. You guys want to talk about guns now?
