  1. I just tried to post a new topic. It won't let me. Keeps coming back with: Detailed error information: Optional feature not implemented No matter what I do, or how I try -- I get the error. Can anyone else start a new topic?
  2. What is it they say? Even a blind squirrel stumbles into an acorn now and then.
  3. You know Max, so much of what a speaker does has to do with the room. It could just be as simple as the Sansuis coupling to your room better based on placement. Have you tried flipping those Heresies upside down yet, pulling the speakers to the edge of your cabinet?
  4. Nobody beats these guys. They must steal the speakers right out of the klipsch warehouse. http://www.brandnamez.com/merchant.ihtml?pid=1391&step=4
  5. Tom!! I was kidding!! Craig is great. I'm pretty sure he does this just so he can inhale the solder fumes. I think he only charges for parts and shipping.
  6. Sounds like the last year of the original Heresy Mike. The backs cannot be removed with the Heresy II. The drivers are mounted via the front baffle, versus being attached from the inside, to the rear of the baffle. Heresy II's are MDF. Original Heresy is Birch Plywood, and you should clearly be able to see the grain on the ends, around the front edges of the speaker. The lenses are probably plastic. Based on what I've been reading up to this point -- I don't think it amounts to a hill of beans difference.
  7. Greeks must be very disciplined. To get that many Americans in a room together to shut up for longer than 5 minutes would take duct tape and the National Gaurd:)
  8. You should know that Craig is charging labor for these services now. A $175 Scott he is sending to me, ended up being $1175 after he replaced and handful of resistors. I think he's just charging a flat fee of $1000 for heating up the old soldering gun
  9. Nice. Talk about an "event"! All of those people I'm sure, played complete havoc on the room acoustics. I'm familiar with your speakers. A very fast, detailed sound. It's hard to imagine them not sounding anything short of stellar. This kind of environment is certainly not condusive to any sort of serious listening. This kind of meeting is best suited for showing the system, and some general discussion -- as the emphasis will most definitely be in the fellowshipping, and the enjoyment of each other's company. Some listening would be in order, but maybe more casually -- so those who have interest can get a general impression of the signature and capabilities of the system. Any type of serious review is out of the question. The system has been built to your taste. It matters not what others think. Others can offer opinions on what they believe will create improvement in the sound -- but that does not ensure that once implemented, you will find so much an improvement -- but merely a lateral shift in the signature. Of course, as always -- it's purely subjective. Meetings should be for 'talk', and the pure enjoyment of being together -- sharing in a common interest. If a review, or serious evalutation is the goal -- it is probably best to confine this sort of thing to a handful of people, and preferably -- several who achieve sonic bliss in completely different ways.
  10. Interesting. I'm looking forward to seeing what they do for me. HD's comment that the Heresy is the most forgiving of the breed -- is something I am hanging on to for now:)
  11. That ran across my mind too. I thought maybe Klipsch had had enough of all this tube business, and decided to issue a gag order. I was then worried that maybe the black helicopters took Mobile away.
  12. The 'high-end' isn't always about the music, but about manipulating the music, and more about the equipment than anything else. Many times, there is no relationship between the level of musicality a system can propagate -- and the cost of the system. I'm still a big believer in diminishing returns as well. There is a point at which the whole thing just becomes nonsensical. To me, it's simply about tearing down the veil. I want the speakers to disappear. I don't want to be aware of a systems character. I just want the music to pull me in. To me, it's about the feeling I would get just cruising in my Cuda with the Jensen coaxials going. Just being with the music, and not so much 'listening' to it. I think Klipsch does a better job at this than anything I have heard to date.
  13. I had to double up on my meds -- I was a nervous wreck. It was awful, just plain awful.
  14. Well, what really bothers me is the fact that no one manufactures a resonance free receptacle wall plate that comes in direct contact with the power cord plug. With the proper wall plate, isolating resonances from the plug and attached cable -- any power cable at the $2000 pricepoint would immediately come to the same performance level as any $5000 and above power cable.
  15. You got me there. That's really true about most show rooms. Carlin Audio is a nice store though. It's not like what many of you might be accustomed to. Imagine going into a store and seeing Klipsch RF7's hooked up to about $20,000 worth of electronics. The first time I heard the 7's I almost passed out from hyperventilating. I bought them on the spot. Now...THAT'S how you sell speakers!!
  16. Pat pat pat. Good job Ryan! Post more -- we like you.
  17. Several here on the forum, including me -- are worried about Mark. Is he O.K.?
  18. You must drink some excellent beer.
  19. I don't think anyone on this forum has spent 1/2 the price of a new car on any tube gear. ASL, AES, and some of vintage stuff is down right inexpensive -- and I don't think anyone loses money on these things if they are bought used to begin with. So much of this just depends on what you are used to, what you are willing to get used to, and the degree of enjoyment you get out of what you have.
  20. That's not really true. I heard Hesesys at Carlin Audio here in Dayton at least a dozen times through the late 70's and early 80's. Hell, I just always figured that tin can midrange sound was because of the metal lenses. When I first listened to RB5's, it was the complete absence of this quality that drew me to them. Of course, the only thing I've ever heard Heresys with is Yamaha equipment. K-horns on old Crown stuff, and Scalas on Lord know what.
  21. I hope mine are plastic. Plastic good. Metal bad.
  22. "Yeah...$25 is an awful lot to spend for at least a pair of t35 tweeters...." That was good.
  23. Interesting. So the Dynaco product probably just follows this wiring scheme 'in the box'. Of course, for $35 -- you get the nifty box and the cool knobs:)
  24. Jeff, what makes you say these Heresys are 1984. Did you gather this from the serial number?
