I was really thinking of building a HTPC and I will. I am just waiting until everyone has the full line of the Direct X 10 graphics cards out. As for graphics cards for my regular comp which I was probably just going to use for the HTPC I have an EVGA 7900 GTX RoHS w/ HDCP. Its very nice plus I get great fps on games.

I've always loved the sound of JL Audio. My brother has a full JL system in his car and its amazing. I wonder how the Gotham g213 will sound. They used to include the price of the g213 online and it was in the neighborhood of 7500$. Also I was wondering on which specific driver they are using in the fathom and gotham series. Are they just using the mobile series such as a 13w6v2 or a 13w7 in a sealed enclosure? I tried downloading the pdf's to check on that and they were not available. I looked into it a bit more under their driver technologies and it looks like they are just the mobile series. Any clues?

I've used both, and really do not have a preference. Just remember, with the digital optical there are plastic and glass, obviously glass is more expensive and less likely to interfere with any other components to produce static. If you do go with digital optical, get one that contains a lot of insulation to contain the quality you are looking for.

You are completely right. Within 10 minutes from my college there is a major hub for UPS distribution. They frequently seek out college students to load/unload the trucks. My brother was looking for a job at the time and went to look into UPS as a possible job. The people that load and unload the trucks literally toss the packages onto the conveyor belts. Any packages that get damaged or things that loose its package are sent to some random guy at a table. This guys job is to add pieces of cardboard to the box that is missing any or replacing the package into a box, then taping it all back together. I personally will never deal with UPS for this very reason, there is no care. DHL is another story. I've never had problems with FEDEX, but probably a few here have. There is really no safe way to ship things anymore.

I don't want to get in to a heated debate about power conditioners, but I honestly can see and hear a difference in my system. This has eliminated the lower cable channels shadow effect and the faint hum in my speakers when they are powered and not playing any sounds.

I've been hearing more and more about how HTPC's are the way to go. Let us know about how it all sounds and looks after everything is set up. I know a good HTPC could replace about at least 1000$ worth of decent equipment. Looks like better picture quality with the videocard and having an inexpensive DVR without subsciption, makes me want to build one for the same reason!
