  1. samsung, they are TIs partner in any new DLP chip launch... they work very closely with TI to take full advantage of DLP..
  2. jobman, which do you prefer? the se-100 or the sm-70? which has better bass?
  3. well then your just being rediculous... ive seen the test screens, these tvs fully resolve 1080p sources with no visible drawbacks whatsoever over a fixed-pixel microdisplay. its not a sorta-kinda situation here. these tvs either fully resolve 1920x1080x60fps or they dont. if they can resolve a 1080p test pattern, then it IS 1080p. and it is a fact that blueray and hd-dvd will both support this format... so at this point i really have no idea what your talking about. do a little more research next time.
  4. Ou8thisSN, unfortunately your information is almost completely wrong. first and formost, yes the 1080p TVs use a 960x1080 DLP chip, but this is TRUE 1080p. these TVs can fully resolve a 1920x1080x60fps test signal, PERIOD. the chip operates at 120 cycles per second, using one micro-mirror to cover 2 pixels. you cannot see any difference between this and a fixed pixel 1920x1080 chip, anyone who tells you otherwise has no idea what they are talking about. second of all, both blue-laser formats(blue-ray and HD-DVD) will both support a full 1920x1080x60fps output signal. these devices will hit the market by christmass at the earliest, spring '06 at the latest.. so there are devices that will utilize this signal. the PS3's standard output resolution will be 1080p. the other reason for this display is because most regular 720p TVs do not de-interlace a 1080i signal properly.. usually they de-interlace down to 540p and then upscale the signal to 720p. a true 1080p tv will just de-interlace from 1080i to 1080p, which will eliminate any de-interlacing artifacts. the brand new samsung 1080p sets may not accept a full 1080p signal through the HDMI port, because there are no HDMI chips that support this resolution. but the HDMI standard does have the bandwidth required for this type of signal, and i would be surprised if they havent started making them as we speak. the new mitsubishi and toshiba displays will infact accept a true 1080p signal. they should be out in a few months. and last but not least, the rainbow effect has been all but eliminated with the new 1080p chips, and the image quality has been improved with all sources by this new technology.. just because the new samsungs dont accept 1080p via HDMI does not make them a gimmick, these TVs are the future.
  5. just a question, but does the ALK B3 cornwall crossover work in cornwall 2s?
  6. is the amp itself humming or is there hum comming from the speakers? How long have you owned the amp, and has it ever made this noise before. could it be that you are just noticing it, but it may have been there all along?
  7. have bob crites rebuild your crossovers, user BEC here on the forums
  8. i love my acurus rl-11. has simultaneous output on aux, perfect for a sub. can be found for $300 used.
  9. marantz cc-4300 changer.. good reviews.. can be found for under $150 used. i love mine.
  10. ive heard they lack a bit of bass, but other than that i have no experience with them
  11. no offence but your friends dads system hardly makes you an expert on high end audio.. dont get me wrong, im not trying to put down vinyl, what sounds good to you is what counts. but before you waste those 500 cds, get yourself at least a decent CD player.. i picked up my marantz for about $130, and it sounds very good.
  12. i find most people who declare vinyl is better than CD spend a hell of a lot more money on thier TT and related equipment than they do on digital playback... I promise you, a really good CD player or DAC will make you second guess dismissing CDs forever. case in point: from the original posters system profile "POS Kennwood Compact Disk Player" from that experience, you make a very large generalization.. get a good cd player first, then talk about how good vinyl is. personally, untill someone blows my mind with a vinyl setup, a TT will never appear in my system.
  13. check my sig, every day i marvel at how damn good it sounds...
  14. bob rebuilt my cornwall 2 crossovers along with helping me troubbleshoot a few diaphram issues. he fixed my problems and the xovers provided an immediate and noticeable increase in performance across the board. very honest, very easy to communicate with, and his pricing was extremely fair.
  15. ah the miracles of fair use... the industry can do whatever it wants to stop piracy, but someone will always figure out a way around it..
  16. so i was having an issue with my right-channel midrange horn on my cornwall 2s. during very specific parts of a few songs the midrange driver would start to break up. this was only noticeable during high volume id guess 90db+. i could easily reproduce this crackling with one particular track of a solo basist(stuart hamm) strumming a few chords. at the time i was planning on sending my crossovers to bob crites for a rebuild, and i mentioned the problem to him. he said he would test out the driver and replace the diaphram as necessary. bob did a frequency sweep at high volume and found the driver to be testing fine. then he tried replacing the diaphram just to see if there would be a difference in his tests. there was none so he reinstalled the original diaphrm in the horn and sent it back. when i put everything back together, the problem was still there. bob sent me a new diaphram in the mail and when i installed it, voila the problem was gone. bob said that this was the first time he had ever seen a driver test fine but still be faulty. basically i just wanted to post this here so there would be a record of the issue.
  17. SVS PB12-Ultra... every review ive ever seen drools all over this sub. the thing will extend down to 12hz!!! that will shake your whole house.
  18. it was a compliment.. a 2-channel cornwall setup AND a heritage home theater with front projector in the same room??? that absolutely rules, im jealous.
  19. take a look at the Triangle Esprit range. I have auditioned many of the bookshelves, and found them to be very smooth and dynamic. They are a tad soft in the high-frequencies, but overall they have a similar sound to heritage. Personally, for home theater, i prefer a softer HF responce. I find that especially when watching lound action movies, the sound is far less fatiguing. I will be building a Home theater out of these speakers soon for the same reason as you, my cornwalls are simply too damn big.
  20. aw man, you just simply cant do this to us dude, im frikkin dying over here.
  21. i actually went to high school with most of the members of addisson groove project.. great band, fun to see live as well.
