Or does my reciever have to accept a special kind of input? ---------------- The physical medium has nothing to do with the actual signal. You should be able to just plug that Y splitter in and hook it up to your receiver. The digital signal will contain all the audio data for all 5 channels.

I can't afford a better/more expensive amplifier, at least not right no. It's also almost impossible to get a pair or LaScalas, Klipschorn or something like those here in Argentina, so I think I'd stay with this configuration for a while. The only thing I would comment its about the highs... this tweeters has too much bright, wich could very nice with some kinds of music, but not with others. Cya! DiEGO ---------------- Your excessive highs would definitely be because of your Yamaha. You really need to hear Klipsch with tubes. It's amazing.
  3. Try changing the fuse, it's not very difficult. You can get replacement fuses at radio shack. Make sure you get one that is the same value as the original.
  4. About how long does it take to learn how to work on amps (tube or vintage SS) and is it pretty hard?
  5. I wouldn't trust the onboard sound for delivering your audio, even through the digital SPDIF. A lot of sound cards and other devices resample all audio that is passed through it. This especially applies to Creative's soundcards. In essence, all Creative soundcards modify the sound, even if outputted via the digital SPDIF. I don't know if this applies to your onboard, though. Well, regardless, the audio quality is probably good. On another note, mp3s can sound good too. I honestly cannot tell the difference between a well encoded mp3 and the real deal on my Fortes. Maybe some "golden eared" people can, but luckily I'm not cursed with that gift of hearing.

I'm also a bit dissapointed with the sound quality but... they are just MP3s... what else can you ask them? Anyways, try getting them at at least 192kbps VBR or 256 CBR. Not all are available in those formats but if you ever come across the original CD, don't doubt it.. 320 would be perfect Cya! ---------------- I'm curious, what kind of soundcard and speakers are you using?
  7. Check out the M-Audio Audiophile 24/96. I have it connected to my HK430 to run my Fortes and it sounds nice. It has RCA jack outputs on it and it also records really well. You can check out a review here: http://www.digit-life.com/articles/maudioaudiophile/ If you are unhappy with the DAC on it, you can buy an external one later since the digital out on it is in fact bit for bit.
  8. I'll buy whichever one you don't choose for $50. =)
  9. Forget new! For three grand, I would just buy one of the bigger Heritage speakers. More specifically, I'd buy the Khorn.
  10. I sure wouldn't want to be sitting in that chair next to the left horn. In fact, I wouldn't want to be in that room.
  11. Thanks Gary, those pics are excellent.
  12. How much does the rubber material improve the bass, and in what ways?
  13. I was referring to the rubber gaskets or weather proofing items that people attach to the tailboard (or other places) of the Khorns to place them snugly into the corners. I would like to see a few pics of Khorns with this done to them.
  14. Does anyone have any pictures of Klipschorns that have the stuff required to seal them to the corner? I've searched the forum and there are a lot of threads about how to do it, however, I have not seen a picture of the rear of a K-horn with the sealing attached to it. It's hard to picture what it looks like without a visual image. On a related note, how much of a difference does sealing them into the wall make? Does it make the bass go lower on the K-horn? What else does it do?
  15. What, if any, differences would there be in putting a newer K-33-E into a pair of older Klipschorns (which have K-33-Bs).
  16. That really sucks man, I'm sorry to hear that.
  17. Does anyone else have pics of their Khorn setups? I'd like to see some more.
  18. I'd bet my Fortes against those Duos anyday!! =)
  19. Does that include the Audiophile 24/96 (since it's onboard)?
  20. I sure hope my Fortes are "digital ready".
  21. The Forte is a horrible speaker. You would've been much better off with a Heresey for much cheaper or even a speaker from the KG series. Haha, I'm just kidding. My Fortes sound absoloutely fantastic. Great find you got, new in box. My pair is a little rough...
  22. Four midrange drivers?? I only see 2 along with a tweeter.
  23. If he's a salesrep for them... I'd like to have him let me audition them in my home for a few months.
