  1. Picky, et al . . . . . The background: some newbie's first post was a rant with want-a-be street lingo that was racist. In that diatribe were some comments directed towards Michael. It would seem he was somewhat of an arbitrary target . I have never met Michael ( nor most of you), but I have yet to ever see anything objectionable or unkind posted by him. I do not know why Duke posted this thread, but I presume it was to avoid posting in the toll's thread. The moderators noted the content of the want-a-be's thread, it was deleted and the poster banished to wallow in his own ignorance.
  2. Well, right now there are none . . . . . as my pair are undergoing open heart surgery.
  3. 3.39 for premium and 3.09 for regular. It cost $115.00 to fill my wife's Suburban last evening.
  4. WOW!!!!!!! What a discovery. How can something like this been "forgotten" or overlooked for so long? It is not like they were unknown to the musical world.
  5. Bruce, I don't think any of us understand why bad things happen to good people, but please know that there are many of us out here praying for your family, as well all others facing the same challenges. Our prayers and hearts are with you and Barbara. a fellow forum family member, patrick
  6. Joe, thanks . . . . but I sense your orphanage only has an "In" door, of which the rest of us are envious. best regards, patrick edit: OK, I'll start clearing a space on the shelf
  7. Gentlemen, thanks for the comments and the PM's too. Patrick
  8. Allan and Mark, what if i just hold it down REAL TIGHT when i plug it in, think maybe i will feel the "spark" of the music??? Hey, anyone 'round here BBQing ? I smell burning flesh . . . . . . smells kinda like roasted leprechaun . . . So, probably terry dewick?
  9. Hey, remember my mexican adventure? Well . . . yesterday afternoon the UPS guy brought in a carton. I immediately noticed the rounded corners on the somewhat beat-up box, and somewhat hesitantly asked if it was from Mexico? I next asked the UPS driver, normally a good guy with whom I and my office are on first name basis, if someone had been playing football with it. "Nah, probably just whoever packed it. Looks fine to me. It was like that when it was put on the truck. See ya." Packing was basically bubble wrap but no hard foam, not double boxed, BUT in the big scheme of things they came through sorta ok. The metal (rectifier?) tube was left in place on both . . . . but only one is still upright. The other is bent over, dented (matching the contour of the transformer cover), and looks like one of the spades(?) on the bottom is broken off. (Help me here guys, should they pull straight up, or do I have to twist counter-clockwise, or . . . .. ?) Serial numbers 15340 and 17221. Lettering is almost 100% on both, particularly the ends. Chrome is 8.5 of 10 on 15340; probably 7.5 of 10 on 17221. Transformer cases are ok, but looks like someone tried to spot paint a bit; same with one of the black bases. I had asked the seller, when removing the tubes before shipping, to give me a schematic of which tubes came from which amp. He did much "better" . . . he took a Sharpie magic marker and wrote the numbers 1-6 on the chrome of each unit and then wrote the same numbers on the tubes themselves . . . .. I think i recall someone once telling to be careful what I ask for, . . . . now i think i know what they meant . .. . . and perhaps something got lost in translation. (Help again guys, what can i SAFELY use to remove magic marker from the chrome? and from the glass on the tubes???) Don't get me wrong, i think everything will turn out just fine. Tubes?? Interesting array, but you know i will be buying some more: 2 RCA 5U4 GB , also say 59EX9 2 GE 6L6 GC 1 RCA 6L6 G-blur 1 ?? 6L6 GC - bottom looks like the rca, but the 6l6gc is on the top is in a white octagon 1 GE 12BH7A; the other is 12BH7A is International C, Servicemaster 1 12AU7 ECC82 matsu****a japan 1 7025/ 12AX7A japan 1 12AX7A usa 1 12AX7 usa and the white octagon again 1 ECC83 date code 2A1 ,A?H 1 5963 ? United Electron Sorry guys, i can only type so much now. Please know that i appreciate all the emails i got wishing me well on this, and the cautionary ones as well. My next chore is to get everything cleaned up, find a tech with a variac, etc. LOL, the 3*** in the middle of the japanese company's name was done by the forum, not me. I didn't know that would happen, but think it is hilarious, altough i understand why their software would seize upon the combination of "hit" if preceded by an "s"

  11. Paul, things seem to be progressing slowly but surely. Currentlly awaiting shipping confirmation. After that, the next concern is that it be properly repacked if it is selected by customs for inspection, something that hadn't even occurred to me until mentioned by a forum member. It will be a learning experience, no doubt. Thanks guys, Patrick
  12. Hey Sput, it is clearly a babe magnet. You go dude! Of course, being a bit more conservative myself, I tend to think the red gas cap is kinda "over the top", but I know you have that dangerous and wild side to your personality, so it fits. The rolling sound system consists of . . . . . ?
  13. "OT" means, I believe, off topic (in other words, a non-audio thread) others will have to help you with the black magic of uploading and sizing, resizing, and posting within rather than by link . . . . despite prior guidance I seem to remain challenged in this area . . . .ok, i'm challenged in alot of other areas . . . . . . .

'cause otherwise I just figured out why there ain't no hole in the middle

I am sure we would feed you well, and the wine would also be good.
  16. Well, to heck with that; I am sending ALL of mine back, and suggest y'all do the same! With that type of money just think of the BB-X's and pcats we could have!
  17. Gilbert, I just sent pm and email. thanks, patrick
  18. . . . . well, i guess mrs. fini and my wife are related, or went to the same school. Whenever she sees me cruising ebay for audio equipment, she asks me to also do a search for Lorena Bobbitt's scissors . . . . subtle, eh???
  19. Dean bought those new? Wow! It appears he is already tearing them apart I wonder what was wrong with them ---------------- . . . . . wrong with "them" or with Dean ? ? ? ?
  20. sorry, just funnin' ya. On a more serious note, there have been many posts here lamenting the absolute dearth of any dealers that actually have Heritage series speakers in stock or on display.

  22. I assume you "Momma" Cass Elliot????????
  23. As near as I can tell, any current heritage owner that bought new still has the speakers . . . or they died with a smile on their face, and now their next of kin have them!
  24. Good2B, it helps . . .. but how about telling us the rest of the story regarding the next time they used the II designation? who, what, why, when, etc. Thanks for sharing the info.
