Of course with all of his money he will probally be able to buy his way out... ---------------- Interesting take. And so that makes him the moral equivalent of Hitler? Sheeesh! ---------------- Paul, Try as I might, I can't see where Istari put Rush and Hitler in the same post. Seems to me that Istari confined his comments to the drug use issue, and that his post has some merit. You know, practice what you preach, judge not lest ye be judged, if you're gonna talk the talk, &c. If you want to argue his argument with him, you should do that. If you want to argue Colin's argument with Colin, you should do that. I'd honestly rather you didn't, since this is an audio forum and attacking or defending Rush has absolutely squat to do with audio. In any case, though, it is poor form to attack a man for saying things he did not say.
  2. D-Man, I'm fairly new here, but I've run across some things from the past when I've searched for old posts on Choruses, etc. Some of these guys have animosity and pissing contests going back a couple years. In some cases, it seems that someone said something that rankled someone else, and neither one really got over it. I have an idea -- in this corner, we'll have ***** and ******, and they can defend the *** amp topology. Over here, **** and **** can fight in favor of ***** amps. I'll rent the sumo suits, and we'll take up a collection for the kegs. If they still can't smile at one another and GET THE **** OVER IT after that, the rest of us can take turns kicking them until they submit. So yeah, there's history, and there's religion, and there are tribal alliances . . . over tubes and chips and wires and magnets. Sheesh.
  3. From the last page of the "PWK's Amps" thread up there, it seems pretty obvious that some of the members haven't learned to read the warnings. There are about three that can't seem to STFU and just get along. They seem not to know who they are. I'll not name names, else they'd just come flame over here and we'd lose the whole shebang. It is just like elementary school -- one kid can't shut up, so everyone puts their heads on their desk. Fair? Of course not. A reality of the environment? Yep. So if you're one of the causers, please learn to knock it off. Failing that, just go away. I promise I'll miss you less than I'll miss the forum. As for the rest of us, I'm sorry something we like got taken away because some allegedly grown men can't get past the third grade.

  5. Wow, that's intriguing. I know what I'm asking SWMBO for my birthday! Anyone tried one that can give some feedback on it?
  6. Mary Stuart Masterson -- Immediate Family. Supertramp's "Breakfast in America" has got to be one of the worst-sounding CD's I own. A shame, really, since it has some great songs on it.
  7. IMO, keep scanning eBay for the KG2's to round out your 7.1. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3085059650&category=14991
  8. Well, it would be nice if one could "make" UPS do anything. The civil courts have been engaged, and I think that's all I ought to say about it at this point in time.
  9. Sorry to hijack your thread. Be glad you opted for the smaller speakers if the man in brown has to get within a ten foot pole of them.
  10. "What're the odds it hit the crossover?" "Oh, I'd say about 100%"
  11. Hey, shouldn't there be a driver on the back of that?
  12. Your box should not look like this.

Best to buy close enough to pick up. Keith ---------------- "kindling"?????? Sorry for the dumb question. ---------------- Kindling is small pieces of wood for starting fires. When your seller hires a packager, and the packager packages your big speakers, he gives them to UPS. UPS takes them, uses their trucks to convert your big speakers to kindling, and delivers you the busted up boxes with your kindling inside. Wanna see my Choruses?
  14. Yeah, boyee, and I gots to slam that thing too. It gots WAY too much ground clearance!
  15. Darn you. Now I'm going to have to take my Academy and Chorus tweeters out and look.
  16. Welcome to the forum. It's just like Usenet, but shinier.

The problem was the tree huggers and VOC's. It was not limited to US brands either Datsun had similiar problems. Today the automakers are using a dry, baked powder coating to meet VOC standards and are doing a very fine job with it. Not as nice as Ferrerri's multicoat hand sanded laquer but.... Rick ---------------- Yeah, kind of like Bill Clinton's problem was that Monica couldn't keep her mouth shut. Sounds to me like the problem, since corrected, was an inablility on the part of any paint supplier to produce a product that was not unfriendly to things that breathe and drink. On-topic, I drive a 1997 Land Cruiser. No mods yet, but there will be.
  18. Gil, Great post. IIRC the Quartet, Academy, Forte II, and Chorus II all share the same tweeter, with the horns varying by model.

A dude on the Audiokarma said it probably puts out 15-20 wpc, but he wasnt sure. It should be plenty of power for the Heresys. My mom (who doesnt live with me) thinks that nothing is better than her Bose... We'll see about that. ---------------- If your mom's like my mom, she'll describe anything with meaningful mids and highs as "tinny."
  21. Formica and Scooter both give excellent advice. WRT your tweeter, you should find that six or eight screws hold it in place from the front, and friction connectors attach the wires to the tweeters. You shouldn't need to remove any other drivers, unless you drop the wires down into the cabinets . . . then you'll be pulling the passive off the back so you can fish them back up. The wires are color coded, but if you're like me it's not a bad idea to label one of the lugs and one of the wires so you can get them back together right the first time.
  22. If you send them to me they can marry my 82 Heresies. Naturally yours would have to come out of the closet.
  23. ---------------- On 3/12/2004 11:25:46 AM ohknats wrote: I live in Atlanta...why? ---------------- 'cause I'm going through a bunch of gyrations with my own stuff, including thinking of selling it rather than fixing it, but if your Quartets were available and the price was right then fixing my stuff and yours too would be more appealing than selling mine, but you'd have to be in California for this crazy idea of mine to grow some legs, but you're not, so that answers that.

Im about to take it to a furniture shop. But to let you all know how durable these speakers are and why its damaged so badly is that one fell off a pick up truck while moving last month. My stupid sister had one setting on the back of the tail gate of a truck and it fell off going down the road. I was so sick those are like my baby's. Anyway even though its damaged Im planning on finding someone to repair the damage but let me tell you it still plays like nothing happened. ---------------- ohknats, what's your location?
