  1. Dflip Does the Spin-Clean Record Washing System work more effectively than the Discwasher system with the Zerostat gun and the handheld brush?
  2. Dave, The I am very pleased with the Thorens. Until the Thorens, I have never owned a TT that I could listen to at any volume level without problems. The Thorens/Scott combination seems to be a good match. I prefer the Thorens (assuming good condition vinyl) to CDs. SACD is more comparable. I should get some unbiased feedback next weekend!
  3. Jeff, "Bells" are optional attire for this event, but I really want to see that 1967 Ford Ranchero 500! David
  4. So, how do you like your Ampex/Scott setup compared to the LK48? BTW, I'm still digging the 299D, and the 99B for a derived center is on its way from Craig.
  5. It only means that the end of the world is near . So don't worry about it ---------------- On 9/13/2004 11:12:30 PM Klipschfoot wrote: ---------------- On 9/13/2004 10:41:50 PM Seadog wrote: Klipschfoot, did you realize that your 666th post was about snakes and liberals? ---------------- Please tell me what that means. Is it a "sign?" I have a few laughs at those who want to turn this forum into some kind of political speakeasy. I enjoy a little fun jabbing at sensitivities on these boards, hoping that no one here takes these posts here too seriously. But some, apparently, do. This is an AUDIO site fer cryin' out loud! This November, vote for the "liar." ----------------
  6. Klipschfoot, did you realize that your 666th post was about snakes and liberals?
  7. I have much respect for the dangerous snakes (interpret: I hate venomous snakes). Growing up in Texas, I avoided or killed them often. My mom spent the night in the hospital once after being bitten by a copperhead while weeding the flower bed that was about 6 feet from the back door. Once, after a hard rain, I killed 30 copperheads in one evening that were seeking high ground in my dad's front yard. I also came face-to-face with a copperhead while climbing an oak tree (yes they can go up trees). Fear of snakes is healthy in my opinion.
  8. Well Hornheads, it is getting even better. Yesterday, Craig (NOSValves) called and he has finished the refurb on my Scott 99B, so I will have a tube-amplified center channel to go with my 299D. Tonight my brother (Audiodad) called and he is driving up from Houston with an LK72, so we will have five channels powered by tubes. I can't wait to hear the Eagles Hell Freezes Over DVD-A with all 5 channels running tubes/Klipsch Heritage! He is also going to bring his Lascalas, so we should have lots of stuff to play with.
  9. Holy Cow! That has to hurt. I had my right ACL reconstructed 17 years ago with much smaller incisions and it still hurt really bad. I hope you've got some good pain relievers for that! Good luck with the recovery and physical therapy.
  10. Arthurs, I didn't realize BB King was going to be a Billy Bob's. Anyway, we will get going around 3:00 pm, so if you want to stop in before you head out to see BB, let me know and I will PM you the directions to my house. David, aka SeaDog
  11. Martin Logan's are much too "polite" for my music tastes. I much prefer the dynamic "in-your-face" sound produced by Klipsch speakers.
  12. DFW Hornheads Members, In case you have not visited the DFW Hornheads group web page recently, check it out to get the details on a listening event at my place on Sept. 25. David
  13. "On a funny note, I came across that fine piece of art merely by searching the term "a$$hole" on Google images search." -------------------------------------- You must have really been bored that day!
  14. My wife had that done several years ago. She is usually fairly tough about those types of things being a registered nurse herself, but that procedure brought her to tears. BTW, I hope whatever they are testing for turns out o.k.
  15. "If the power cord can carry enough juice to electrocute and kill me its good enough to feed a amp ......" If that happened, would it be considered a "dead short"?
  16. FYI: The ad is running in the Dallas Morning News for Klipsch "La Belle" speakers. I called the seller today and they are LaScalas with grills over the bass bin and top section (three grills per speaker). He said they are in mint condition and are dark stained. The model is LSBR. The SNs are 8449849 and 50. He is asking $1250. PM me if you want the seller's phone number. If someone is seriously interested, I would try make time to go audition them. David
  17. When did Klipsch offer a lifetime warranty?
  18. For a derived center signal in a two-channel system, I built a minibox based on the PWK design and it works very well, but it requires a separate mono amp (or one side of a stereo amp). I read in an old HiFI magazine recently (from 1963) that a derived center speaker-level signal could be created directly from the speaker wires without a separate amp. This is done by using a 5K ohm resistor on both the right and left (+) speaker terminals to the center speaker (+), and the center speaker (-) to one of the ground (-) terminals. The right and left speakers are wired normally. I have not tried this, but perhaps someone else has. Of course there would not be a separate volume control for the center in this scenario.
  19. For those of you with hard copies, would it be possible for one of you to scan and post this article on the forum? thanks, David
  20. cjones, There is a thread on Shinall with over 130 posts. I visited Gary a few months ago and my "report" is on page 5 of the thread. http://forums.klipsch.com/idealbb/view.asp?mode=viewtopic&topicID=48823&num
  21. "I basically told him that he just lost a $3000.00 dollar sale because of his big mouth and lack of knowledge" Way to go, Delano! In the past few months I have visited at least three high-end audio retailers that had at some time in the past sold Klipsch Heritage, but no longer carried them (nor any Klipsch lines). None of the people that I spoke to said anything bad about Klipsch Heritage speakers, and some were very complementary about the Heritage line. All said that they had stopped carrying them because of changes in Klipsch marketing strategy, namely the policy of requiring sales quotas of non-Heritage speakers in order to continue to sell the Heritage line. I don't know how true this is, but it seems to be a consistent theme with the smaller high-end boutiques that no longer carry Klipsch.
  22. I seriously thought something was wrong with my home computer. The site didn't look like this when I left work today! I hope Klipsch has not crossed over to the dark side
  23. Malcolm, O.K., you are correct! My '83 Herseys have the K52H drivers. They also have type E-2 crossovers. So, is this supposed to be a good thing?? Does anyone else have an opinion on the K52H?
