  1. If you have a lot of wall warts, probably some of them do not need to be hot all the time. If you can isolate those on their own power strip, and then just turn the strip on when you need to use any of those items, you will save some money on your electric bill because they draw power even when you're not using the appliance to which they are hooked up.
  2. It's almost 2 months, and no coupon yet. Has anyone else received theirs lately? How long did it take?
  3. Would something like that be available at a public library?
  4. You have to give them a break though. Barbara Feldon was a super hot fashion model then Agent 99 in the sixties. That was 40 years ago. How great are you going to look 40 years from now? Sure, we're all going to look like something the cat dragged in. But the difference seems much more pronounced in her case.
  5. A man who owned dolphins found out that if he fed the dolphins a certain kind of sea bird, the dolphins would live forever. So he went to the spot to where the special sea birds were found, captured them and put them in a cage and then started back to his dolphins. As he was heading home, he saw an old, decrepit lion standing in his way so he jumped over the lion. The police immediately arrested him. The charge? Transporting gulls across a staid lion for immortal porpoises.
  6. Some of those formerly hot sitcom chicks have really gone down the tubes. Ever see a recent photo of Agent 99 (Get Smart), Ellie May (Beverly Hillbillies), Sally Struthers (All In The Family), or the Petticoat Junction girls? Life has definitely NOT been kind to them in their later years. The difference is downright scary.
  7. If a drug gets banned or put on limited distribution, etc., that is a big red flag to me. The government agencies that are supposed to protect us are more interested in protecting the profits of the drug companies, so I figure if they are worried about something then it is probably just the tip of the iceberg.
  8. Did you look at the Toyota FJ Cruiser? I heard they were giving great deals on them.
  9. What's the white thing in the photo before the fish? Looks like a jellyfish of some sort? Or a new type of condom dispenser?
  10. I seem to recall a Popular Mechanics article about this same thing, about 20 years ago. Apparently, they're running behind schedule.
  11. Tell them you want a real toilet. They should be able to afford it.
  12. I ran across this today and thought it was very interesting. This link is a live talk by brain researcher, Dr. Jill Bolte Taylor. From her unique perspective, she describes in fascinating detail what it was like when she had a stroke. Page down about 6 screens. http://www.microclesia.com/?p=320
  13. Well, its been about a month now, and I'm still waiting for the discount coupon to arrive....
  14. Don't wait until the last minute to order your discount coupon(s). Right now they are running 2-3 months to get them from the time you place the request.
  15. I couldn't find any threads about these things here. So, I want to get one of the digital to analog converter boxes that are going to be required next year for anyone using an old type analog input TV set. I was wondering if anyone knows of anyplace where these things have been tested, compared, rated, etc.?
  16. Kansas got an early Xmas. You usually have to watch a Cubs game to see choking on a scale like that. If I was a Memphis fan I would be sick.
  17. I've managed to pickup love handles at drive-ups, but that's as close as I've come.[]
  18. This guy got a red light camera ticket while part of a funeral procession (legal to ignore red), and got royally jacked around by the city before they cleared it up. No one cared. There really is no procedure in place to help you if you are innocent, you have to waste a lot of time and be an amateur lawyer to avoid getting screwed. --------------- Verissimo told the city they made a mistake, and even sent them a letter from the funeral home verifying he was in a procession, stating in part, "The vehicle in summons was part of the funeral procession." But the city told Verissimo to "contact the customer service department of American Transportation Systems," the company that processes the red-light camera tickets. That company sent Verissimo right back to the city. "So, you contacted the company that's responsible for processing the picture. They tell you to contact Philadelphia who told you to contact them. What do you make of that?" Hairston asked. "I look like a ping-pong ball. Go right, go left, go right. I don't know what else to do," Verissimo said. http://www.nbc10.com/news/15296359/d...l?dl=mainclick
  19. OK, PM sent. Have you seen this study: http://www.fas.org/sgp/othergov/polygraph/ota/conc.html
  20. That's my next project after I get those mirrors removed.
  21. The street, that is. The street crews fill in potholes, but often they reappear in a couple of days. And we're talking about some bigazz holes. I can't figure out where the pieces of roadwork are going? This may be one of the great mysteries of life.
  22. Polygraph tests are not admissible as evidence in a court of law. Why? Because they are not reliable. If you have any empirical proof to the contrary I would like to know what it is?
  23. If you go to their website, you can plug in your zipcode and it will show you all of the known cameras in your area. The database is constantly updated by users.
  24. This new online mapping tool shows red-light camera speedtrap locations on your GPS device or GPS-enabled cell phone. Pretty interesting read. They are installing these cams all over the place around here. http://salem-news.com/articles/february122008/speed_traps_2-12-08.php
  25. If someone gave me a set of biwired cables for my speakers, I would sell half of them for copper scrap. That would be a more sensible use of the cable.
