  1. Your engine doesn't suffer. Letting it idle for more than 10 seconds simply wastes fuel and pollutes the atmosphere for no good reason.
  2. Mas, I think you win the kewpie doll. My set is doing exactly what you described. The only symptom that I can think of was that it seemed to take a little longer to warm up and produce the image, just before this blinking thing kicked in. Looks like time for a new set. I'm sure it's cheaper to get another unit than repair the old one. I had a 19" Sony Trinitron for 20 years and it worked fine until I gave it away because I just wanted a bigger screen. Guess they don't make them like they used to.
  3. I got some regular for 1.99 on Wednesday, which is the first time I've seen it under 2 bucks in a couple of years. On Thursday it was 2.19.
  4. The local Dunkin Donuts has a tip jar at the pickup window. I think it's ridiculous. If they should be tipped, then why not the checkout clerk at Walmart, etc. Besides, they always screw up the order. And yeah, I hate when those musicians come over and suck around, and won't leave even though you obviously don't want them around. Some of them won't leave until you pay them to go away. The same goes for belly dancers. And even worse than musicians, I hate the morons that try to sell you a flower to give to your date, and expect 5 or 10 bucks for 1 rose that you don't want in the first place. Then there's the photographers with the Polaroid cameras who take your photo and then say it costs 10 bucks after you accept it.
  5. Federer vs. Pancho Gonzalez would be an awesome match.
  6. I've got a 32" Sony TV that is about 10 years old. It has worked fine until recently. But now when I power it up, once it warms up and the picture lights up, the screen will blink out to black for about 1 second every 10 seconds or so. Then gradually, the blinking frequency will slow down until it almost quits doing it. The sound is fine. Any idea what's crapping out here? Is it worth fixing?
  7. I thought tonight's episodes were great. I can't think of any character that gets raked over the coals as much as Jack. Just when you think it can't get any worse for him, they take him down to a new level.
  8. This is one of my favorite shows. Fans will know that Jack was kidnapped by the Chinese in the final segment last year. He was last seen being beat up in the hold of a slow boat to China. So, for 6 months I'm wondering how he's going to get out of this one, what will the Chinese do to him, etc. Then last night's show opens up with him being returned to the US by the Chinese one and a half years later, as part of some kind of negotiated deal between China and the US. What a ripoff. They could have thought of something less bogus than that. Anyone else think that that was a lousy way of handling that situation?
  9. Here's something about an ebay settlement for over 2 mil last month. It might be what you're talking about? http://forums.etopps.com/etoppsForum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=76477
  10. Branford Marsalis has a nice version. I think the album is Romances for Saxophone. My problem is I like them all.:-(
  11. I did one tour with the Army a long time ago.
  12. If you want to really get hideous, try Mezcal.
  13. Here ya go, hydrogen peroxide, zinc, and echinacea are the most touted home cures.... "Some doctors believe the flu virus and the cold virus enters the body through the ear canal. The following is a remedy that has been used for years by many. Many people have said this remedy will cure the cold or flu in 12-14 hours. There are several wonderful testimonials about this remedy by people claiming their colds, flu, asthma and allergies have been cured. To use this remedy, administer a few drops of 3% Hydrogen Peroxide into each ear. (Garlic oil or tea tree oil may also work the same way.) The H2O2 starts working within 2-3 minutes killing the cold or flu virus. There will be bubbling and may be some mild stinging. However it is not painful in any way. For the flu, if using hydrogen peroxide, you will need to repeat this process two or more times at one or two hours intervals. When the bubbling subsides in a few minutes, drain onto a tissue and repeat with the other ear. This remedy using hydrogen peroxide is safe for children to use. However, the loud bubbling and mild stinging may scare them, so please be sure to tell them what to expect. Do not get hydrogen peroxide in the eyes. If it enters the eyes at all, flush with water at once." http://www.ucanbewell.com/colds.html
  14. The girls seem to assign the most priority to the size of the stone. Why spend money to get extreme clarity, flawlessness, perfect color, etc., that cannot be discerned by the naked eye? Why not go for the biggest stone you can afford that looks as good as a higher graded stone, but is much larger?
  15. The 67 GTO was a lot of fun but scary in the winter. Really liked my 71 Z car a lot too.
  16. The Nat King Cole Christmas Album is great. And don't forget The Brandenburg Concertos.
  17. How do you know when you just get minor amounts of seepage? I would be concerned about the area below your subfloor getting damp and mold growing in there.
  18. Yes. I had a similar mindset to yours when I first started trying to solve these kinds of problems. Now I know better. One other idea if you get desperate. You could make a hole in your basement floor next to the bottom of the crack so the water would drain into the hole instead of on your floor. Put a sump pump in the hole to get rid of the water when it started filling the hole. Of course, you would need to run a drain pipe outside for the water from the sump pump.
  19. Some guy near Chicago has a new pair of black RF-82's for $950 on Craigslist. Local pickup only. http://chicago.craigslist.org/chc/ele/242063457.html
  20. Like the others said, get the gutters draining as far away from the crack as possible. The bottom line is that if you want to fix it properly, you should attack it from the outside. If you fill the crack and patch it from the outside, when it rains the water pressure is pushing the patch into the crack so the water can't get through. If you patch the crack on the interior wall of the basement, the water pressure will be able to push through the patch once it reaches a sufficient force. If you hire pros to do the work, make sure you check their references thoroughly. This is one of those businesses that is saturated with crooks and incompetents. After going through this BS myself, I have decided I do want anymore homes with basements unless I am on the top of a hill. Invariably I end up filling them with junk that I should have pitched in the garbage anyway.
  21. Was BCBS picking up any of the tab from your chiropractor? If so, it would seem they knew about the condition and didn't have any issues then, so why now?
  22. I've heard the new album. Don't care for it.
  23. I keep seeing commercials on TV all the time for pills that promise to give you "natural male enhancement." It sounds like a good thing to be enhanced, but I'm not sure what they mean by that. Can you explain "natural male enhancement?"
  24. Not sure if this has been here before. Try it, only takes a few secs.... http://www.bbc.co.uk/science/humanbody/sleep/sheep/reaction_version5.swf
