  1. Good2/Gilbert, These are what I am looking for as well but I am not in a postion to bid (growl grown sigh) at the moment so it looks you got em. Good luck. I am looking for one actually to use as a center between my La Scala's until I can get a pretty beat up La Scala to split into two sections and refurb. R/Jim
  2. Why change whats working. No ones is left wanting for information here, if a thread goes off topic as some do hey its human interaction. Why ban that. If a thread becomes an offensive assault such as my (insert your favorite line of speaker here), are better than yours and you suck too wars then that is where the intervention is needed. I see far more of those conflicts than any other, although Ill offer this caveat as I dont read any thread that does not interest me to begin with. Just MHO. PS Dean: mine have a flap in the back!
  3. Tweek I like your file server desktop best!
  4. Get bucking magnets for your Heresy II's if you wish to use one as your front center. You can get them directly from Klipsch. You attached it poll opposed (so they repell) to the Heresy woofer magnet. This should take care of any magnetic interference issues.
  5. I agree use the "Great Room" but loose the fireplace. It is not an easy thing to give up and fireplaces are nice focal points but IMO they tend to make walls useless for just about anything else. Second get in contact with "arto" on this topic. Next you should also contact the folks at Auralex. (http://www.auralex.com/) they will be able to help you with room conditioning. You can send them your room set up/dimesions and they will send you ideas and recommendations. You can download the form from their web site.
  6. Q-Man a more apt description of how to demo La Scala's I have not seen. That nails it right on the head. I could not look into the doghouse as I bought mine retail (sort of). But these boys should not protest a bit when you crank them. They should take you to the point where you as the potential buyer are just, stupefied at their performance. As far as Crossovers, Type AA or Type A would the be best stock networks. The Type AL sound ok but they are the worst of the three IMO, mine have ALs and they still sound amazing but the AL is a little harsh comparatively speaking. If they do have ALs you can always get ALK series A from ALK engineering. Al sells the networks built and matched for around $500 and kits for less also you can download the parts list and designs and build them yourself. Al Klappenberger is a member forum here. If you have never heard La Scalas you will be astounded.
  7. Yammies being harsh..Well I have to say back in their "Natural Sound" series days Yamaha was definitely an ear bleeder for the high mids and up. I was strictly a Denon type back then. Those days have long since past. I have traded my old Denon for a Yamaha RX V3300 and find no harshness of the days of old. Actually its pretty smooth. My La Scala's and Heresy IIs sing beautifully with this unit.
  8. Been to the web site downloaded the form. I am in the process of moving my HT/Listening room to a slightly larger area and intend to consult these folks for room inprovements. Even got the little Mrs. on my side on this. I think she's given up and realized there is no cure for me.
  9. Fini, My condolences to you and your friends family. 38 is too damn young. My father in-law passed away at 56 from Non Hodgkins Lymphoma and my though then was there too much life left for him to end so soon. All you can do is know he has gone to a better place and his suffering is over. Again my condolences.
  10. Sorry I just have to. Go Heritage young man go Heritage
  11. I believe you have an actionable issue here since repair has never been completed to fully restore the item. I would expect the company bears the responsibility to make good on the product. You may have to go to court but I think you have a legitimate complaint.
  12. "Do yourself a favor and check out the SVS's." Ditto
  13. "A pig's orgasm lasts 30 minutes" And you were doing what when you learned this....nah I don't think I want to know!
  14. Yeah its a slow day as it would seem, but I don't think we can blame it on teh alignment of the stars or the m00n
  15. I was in my teens when I first heard Klipsch Heresys I think. Later, in my early twenties and a young sailor stationed in Japan, I was in the Navy exchange and there in front of me sat a pair of Heresys. I had the rep demo them and then I thought man I need a set of these. My ship got underway for a month and upon our return I went back to the Exchange and low and behold there was a set of La Scalas. I had the rep demo them and bought a set that day, I still have them. My first ownership experience with Klipsch made me a devoted fan for life of the now Heritage line of speakers. I demod the K-horns later but I had no corners for them and I could not have them shiped back to the US then so I never got a set. I had the opportunity to listen to a variety of speakers, Bose, Polk, Infinity, B&W and KEF but nothing has moved me the way the Klipsch did when I first heard them. I am so glad I went into the Exchange that day.
  16. I have the capability to go 6.1 discrete but I lack the rear center speaker. At present I just use the 5.1 set up, my current room is smallish and I am moving the system to a bigger room. I probably won't go 6.1 until I get another set of Heresy's
  17. $120 for a set of Forte's WOW. Talk about picking them up for a song. Oops sorry welcome to the forum. Great intro, I just can't get past the $120 Forte's man....CONGRATS!!!!!! You will find this to be a most informative forum. And a word of caution if you don't do it now you will in the future and the "it" is "E-bay". I give you this caution because its inevitable. I never did E-bay until I came to this forum. Its kind of a right of passage around here. I Just picked up a set of Heresy IIs recently. Again welcome.
  18. Cables burning in - Huh?? mOOn - I tweak relentlessly, but I think its probably because I am not in exactly the same place every time. I must admit when it comes to my rig I am definitely a bit on the OCD side. My wife tolerates it I can tell when I deluge her with too much audioholic stuff her eyes start to glaze over and she just gives me the uh huh response.
  19. To answer your topic question directly...NO!
  20. I am not sure but my La Scala's pushing 100+ db in our room make pretty uncomfortable for us. I could not imagine hearing a set of K-Horn's delivering their absolute maximum. While I am sure it would be pure sound it would also be painfulto me.
  21. "I took my 1971 heresys unpluged them from my living room then placed them in the bed room .Next I hooked up a pair of vintage khorns. Now my living room sounds way better and that old Sears am raidio now has a run for its money in the bed room." So tell us are you going to reverse this mod or leave it?
  22. There seems to have been a number of updates and mods done to the Heresy 1 and 2's. I got to thinking of collecting a single source of Heresy mods. A poll if you will. So if you could answer just these three questions. What Heresy 1 or 2 mods did you do? Which mods you did and liked? And which ones you did and wanted to undo or did undo?
