As a man you should be able to have control of your own money and not ask permission to have the checkbook, which is probably yours in the first place. You should also be able to listen to your music as loud as you want without static from your girl. If these issues do pose problems then get the hell out and run for your life. ---------------- don t worry about this, as i ve just i do almost what i want with my money: a ducati monster, some klipsch, soon a new car. if she wasn t here i think it will remains no money in my wallet and my bank account
  3. ...i ve checked what mean "bend over"...i understand now why you are laughing. the meaning is quite strong beside what i was thinking. next time i ll check ALL the words i write it seems that i m not good at all in english.

When you've worked those priorities out, then the solution will be obvious. Do I have to spell it out? ---------------- yep, i totally agree with you my girlfriend is now enjoying the klipsch sound. when we met i had promedia 5.1 now we have Synergy serie speakers. she says some days ago that when we ll have a bigger flat i can buy some RF35 as main. so she s not as bad as that.
  6. and my girlfriend is not just a girlfiend, i live with her since almost 3 years and we re willing to mary each other. so i have to bend over.
  7. hehehe... i still prefer my girlfriend as my speaker, even if they are some klipsch anyway, i ve found a good match and i enjoy both my girlfriend and my speakers
  8. old gear have often more advantages than modern stuff. and modern speakers are often build with old technology.
  9. i had the same problem with my girlfriend. i wanted RF3 even if they were expansive. but after she listen them and see how loud they can play she said it s too much for a flat or a house. so i only bought SF1.it sounds not as good as RF3 of course but for medium level listening they are good enough.for the same price i ve a complete home theater and she enjoy watching movie. you can may be do some room treatment, so with a lower volum the sound will be as good as now.
  10. if you can, tou should make some tests with another amp.
  11. if the CP1 is a control pod and if you have changed it, it only remains the amp i hope we have forgotten something.

That may be the problem right there, use the 7.1 Matrix or 7 channel stereo option instead when listening to music it will make a big difference. ---------------- i agree. check the setting of your amp. it could be this.
  13. even if the person who advice you like the speakers he suggests, audio is a matter of taste. one persone may love some speakers and other people will hate them. the best is to listen ant test before buying. any way, before you sell all your gear, listen to several thing, make some tests, change your speakers placement or your amp setings...something may be wrong.
  14. it s not that you are right or wrong. it s because some american people on the forum think it s not fair to make work some chiness people while some american people don t have any job. i think like you:whatever the place they are made.what count is how they sound. klipsch must make profit to survive so i understand that they make speaker where workers don t cost too much. it s the same thing everywhere at the moment.
  15. heu, just one question: english is not my native language and i don t understand "muffled". when you said the synergy sound is muffled compares to the reference, does it means that they sound less loud than the rf? if it s this i agree. they need less power to sound as loud as the synergy serie, for the RF 3 i ve heard and my SF1 i would say that the SF need almost twice the power of the rf to make the same level of sound.it s because of the sensitivity of the rf that is very high. the synergy serie as good sensitivity but the rf has an amazing one.
  16. don t forget what rjon17469 and i ve said: check the sub volum!! it could be the button of the bass control that is turned to a too high volume. a bad sub placement would make messy bass, not clear and sharp. it could be this but i think the sub overdrive is a better answer to your problem. let s go step by step.it you go too fast in the troubleshoot, we may miss something.
  17. but i agree with you lynnm: if an equipement works corectly, and if we use it properly, its fuses shouldn t blow.
  18. ---------------- On 8/11/2004 10:24:11 AM lynnm wrote: "sometimes the fuses get weak while they get old" Not precisely true. Fuses weaken only if they are subjected to stress which means that the current draw is higher than spec but not quite high enough to melt the fuse link. This will over time cause a failure. The excessive current draw is nonetheless a sign that there is some sort of fault in the unit being protected by the fuse. If a fuse is operated within normal limits it will last indefinitely just as any conducter will last indefinitely if operated within design limits. Two of my 30+ yr. old units still have their original fuses. Therefore as noted above if the unit is blowing properly rated fuses there is a problem either with the equipment or the way it is being operated. ---------------- between each fuse replacement, i ve open the promedia, check the current coming from the power cord with a voltmeter, ask to my father who is electrician...nothing wrong. and i ve always put fuses of the good capacity. the fuses in the promedia are those i replaced some years ago and no probleme.the 2 promedia works very fine. when the fuses blews up i was listening music at low volume, or it was just after switching them up. very strange. i think it could came from some burst on the power outlet...may be.
  19. i think it s a good solution. no waste of money with this solution, and you can decide with real fact.
  20. the cat 3 cable have twisted paires. so it s shielded.of course if the cable run next to a power cord for 25meters long, the shield won t help a lot.
  21. i understand what you mean. you need something, so you search for it and once you found what you need you buy it.the brand don t matters.i agree. but if one is 10 times more expensive than the other and have the same effect, i bet you will think a little before buying the expansive one. there is also another solution: you can make it. if you do it well it can have the same quality as monster or audioquest stuff for the price of a crapy cable.
  22. ---------------- On 8/11/2004 9:24:46 AM lynnm wrote: If it keeps blowing fuses then that is a sign that there may be a fault in the sub's amplifier and/or that you are really hammering that sub. Are you sure that your crossover settings are correct on your reciever? Fuses are protection devices. If the are blowing frequently you need to find out why. ---------------- you are right fuse are made to protect an electrical equipment. there are some strange things sometimes: i had 2 promedia 2.1 hooked on the same source and on the same power cord. after one year without any problem, one of the promedia blowed 2 fuses in about 2 weeks. then the second did the same thing. and after this no problems. i gave the promedia 2 years ago to a friend and he still has them and he has not changed the fuses. sometimes the fuses get weak while they get old or some fuse don t have the properties they should have.
  23. in fact you re struggling but you agree on one point: the cable must be shielded.here is the important point.

Here's a picture of one pretty popular cable, the Kimber PBJ: http://www.kimber.com/Products/Interconnects/PBJ/PBJ_cable.gif"> As you can see, the connector that is tied to the sleeve of the RCA plug and the connecter that is tied to the central pin form a simple twisted pair. There is not even an outer jacket on this one. Many RCA cables are constructed like this, then placed inside an outer jacket. Most of the AudioQuest line, the Kimber, the Goetz and a host of others look like this. Radio Shack's are Coax, and most of the generic variety that come in the box are coax. I think some of Monster's designs are coax and some are pairs of wires in a jacket, and I think I used to have a set that were some sort of weird combo where there was a pair of connectors inside a shielded outer braid, with the braid and one of the connectors tied together (?). ---------------- twisting the pairs is a way of shielding a wire. it s use in cat 5 wire for network.
  25. what people call a sub cable is nothing more than a shielded rca cable. so no difference.
