Pauls point is very valid , you never know what gear /speakers / room size/ listening habits / listening pleasures etc etc etc , that the reviewers comments are based apon. Klipsch speakers are so sensitive that the worst and best of an amplifier can come to the surface . I prefure to test drive any amp or pre-amp that i'm going to pay that amount of $ on . Just to see how it acts in " my " own system and listening pleasures. Great buys can be had on E-bay and audiogon but you don't get a chance to listen first ( unless you know what your buying ) .I've had some brand name stuff that i never really took a shining too yet had an old fisher tube amp ( worth next to nothing ) that worked well in " my " system . Personaly i don't think auctions are the right place to experiment with tube amps unless you know the amp or are taking the advise of another person with similiar tastes and gear.

The olny way general moters could offer a product at a reasonable price was to build it cheaper , unions have driven labour costs in canada and the usa past a profitable point for the manufacturing industry. Silicon vally is another case in point , products are developed there but manufactured in china or other sweat labour nations . The worlds an even changeing place Eh ? when it comes to computers , but today i was playing around in windows 98 in the file and folders program and pulled up all the jpg image folders wondering just what they were. 40% of the files i opened were full page views of our avatars from this forum , i was trying to figure out how all these k-horn pictures with someone elses kids were on my computer , and now i know. I'd have to say just about anything recorded by " rainbow " . One of my alltime guitar hero's is richie blackmore from that band but i've yet to hear a recording i could listen to for very long. Yet these guys were killer when they played live .

EAR : THANKS The room is 24 x 20 with a 10 ft ceiling , this is a basement project. This room has 4 concrete walls , no windows and a 4ft x 7ft entrance . 10 Screen on the front wall ( the 20 ft wall ) 8" crt front projector. Mains are 89 khorns , center is a 94 belle , rear are 86 lascala's Right now i've got a klipsch ksw-300 and a ksw-15 . Not 100% sure if the model # are correct but 1 is a 300 watt the other is a 800 watt , both are klipsch. The walls are being constructed useing the ISO wall system (over 2x6 insulated walls )which is 2 layers of drywall with vibration padding between layers, same thing on the ceiling . They have a web site if you guys want more info than that. This room is being built just like a studio , if specs are maintained then bass response should be increbile . I was looking at going with some sort of SVS tube style dual subwoofers as i don't believe the subs i have now were made during klipsch finest hour.

Ok lets take this from another angle. Your building a 400 seat theater thats 350 ft long and 150 ft wide how do you figure out a subwoofer combination thats going to give you proper SPL over the entire space. Don't even bother telling me it's trial and error !

Hey tunes !!! I'm not here to insite a flame war , there are guys here that know their gear and thats a good a reason as any to hang out. I never meant to imply one thing is better then another , but just mentioned that there is stuff out there that could float your boat like you would never believe if you ever got the chance to listen to it.

A friend of mine has a very high price jitter reduction decvise made by " chamalot " we A/B this devise on several different kits with positive results everytime. " But " the jitter reduction unit was thousands on dollars , money i would rather spend else where and not worry to much about the jitter issues .
