  1. Amy, It looks very good. I would love some Klipsch glass mugs or glasses (with no handle); but who knows if I am in the minority. Top notch! []
  2. I'm not sure what that would mean then? What would have failed? Various Klipsch subs with Bash amps have had high failure rates. (This includes the PC speaker amps; IE Promedia 5.1 Ultra). The OP asked why people were down on Klipsch subs in general. That would be why.
  3. Rod; Thanks for helping me spill my soda! (LMAO!!!!). []
  4. Wow.... Very nice Rick..... I am salivating.... need to get the windex for my monitor........ []
  5. It was quite good and satisied my need for a greasy burger.......
  6. Congrats! You can't post this without pictures though! (Did you think we'd let you get away with it???) Incidentally, I had a "Mac attack" yesterday also........
  7. Yes, Welcome. Cecaa is correct. If your speakers sound bad with the receiver; what are your settings? This link will get you an owners manual downlad (under "support" tab). http://usa.yamaha.com/products/audio-visual/av-receivers-amps/rx/rx-v620_black__u/?mode=model Read it; and you should be able to get it set up properly. Also, this link will explain basic concepts: http://www.audioholics.com/tweaks/calibrate-your-system/home-theater-set-up-basics-101 (Search their site for specific inquiries or issues). Good Luck.
  8. Wow.... that's a big question. My advice is to do a quick Google search on whatever item you see on CL that you are considering. As for new; Emotiva Ultra 12 can be had (when on sale) for ~$389. It is a great deal because they give a 5 year warranty on all parts that is transferable. I do not remember which model Big Cliff has, but he loves his Hsu STF ****** (something) and the price was comparable to my Emotiva. I wish I was more help, but I still do not know which models are worth it and which are not. (I use the above method).
  9. Colin, Confed is spot on...... Most every speaker I own (except for the sub) is old/ used...... Good Luck on your sub hunt.... I suggest local craigslist. Hsu, Velodyne, SVS, Emotiva, Epik, ED and others like Rythmik all make really good to great products. (I am not big on Klipsch subs; but theReference subs are pretty good; if a bit pricey. Not sure about the latest offerings).
  10. Ideally, you want all speakers to be identical. You will need at least 5 speakers and a sub for ht. I think what he means is heritage will not voice match well with reference.
  11. Yep. Spot on analysis. There is a set of Oiled Oak H IIs in mint "barely used" condition going for $350 on my local CL. (Oiled Oak is my least favorite finish; but that is up to your preference). I prefer Heresy Is to Heresy IIs, but again; this is personal preference. (The nice thing about H IIs is you can upgrade them to H III parts that Klipsch sells as a kit). I suggest shopping around with a bit of patience. Good Luck.
  12. Groom, this is exactly what I did. (Except remove "spare" from bedroom). The price was too good to pass up and I am enjoying them very much.
  13. I know my RF 52s are not the same as 62s..... But I do have them (reference) and do have Heresy Is (3 way). I would get the KLF 20s for music. 3 way does music better to me. You should be able to demo them at the sellers place, even if you must bring your own receiver. That being said; the above applies.... YMMV. Good Luck.
  14. +1 on the Congrats, AND the pics! [H]
  15. Thanks for the link! I am going with a Forum Member's RC 35 for a center. (Big Cliff). Fair price and a great guy!
  16. Thanks for the replies..... I now know what I am looking for. [H]
  17. Thanks for the input. I am relatively a virgin when it comes to Reference..... Yes, I checked out the complete RF 52 system..... What I am looking for is a close match; ie would an RC 35 work? I am just trying to get an idea of all models that will work pretty well; so I can keep a look out on CL and the bay.... (Considering the RF 52s were $70; I am not looking to spend much more than $125-$150 on a center if I can help it). Thanks again.....
  18. Or one RW 12 now and then when you are unhappy with coverage [] , add a second....... []
  19. Evening Ladies and Gents..... My question is but a simple one: What center speaker goes with original RF 52s? (I believe it was an RC 52). What else would work? RC3? RC7 too big? Same questions for surrounds also please...... Thanks.
  20. I play a 5 string bass (sort of). I am still learning; and as mentioned; when you do not practice regularly...... you lose whatever gains you may have had......
  21. Gently remove the DIN plug and inspect it closely. (Might be a bent pin or possibly broken). I suspect your problem is either the plug or the control pod......
  22. I always use "Tusk" by Fleetwood Mac. This is great for percussion as well as getting speakers set up properly (soundstage and imaging). If I am auditioning speakers, I will use several tracks including: 1. "Alive" by Pearl Jam 2. "Raining Blood" by Slayer (Cen the speakers play this complex and fast music while staying clear, articulate and accurate at high volume????) 3. "St. Anger" by Metallica (This song sounds like crap on most speakers; the percussion is tinny and has much echoing so it is intentional; a good benchmark IMHO). 4. A few select Eminem tracks to evaluate the bass 5. "Tusk" by Fleetwood Mac as mentioned above. (Great to see if the speakers image well).
  23. Recently there was a local set on CL going for $500 or best offer. (Right now some minty 30s are going for $850 locally). I would say $400-$800 depending on condition and location. Hope that helps......
  24. ASD, Welcome to The Forum. Yes, you pronbably have an amp issue. When those internal fuses blow, it is because something else has failed. Remove the amp and look closely at the internals. You likely will find something charred or burned. I think it is about $80 bucks to get it repaired; 1-800-Klipsch can give you the info on who and where to send it to. Good Luck.
  25. The subwoofer pushing air is what the amp uses for cooling. You might want to add a fan or something to cool the amp, or it will probably fail sooner rather than later. I would go over the amp with a magnifying glass; (literally), something is probably loose or beginning to fail. It may even be loose wires; hard to say without seeing it first hand. FWIW; I currently am using my promedia 2.1 amp and sub with a set of Klipsch Reference RF52s. They sound really good; and I will keep this setup until I can make room for the HK AVR 340 I have slated for them. (This amp and sub have been to hell and back, being over 7 years old). Yep, Slayer, Judas Priest and Anthrax now sound like Promedia 2.1s on steroids....... [H]
