  1. I would not worry excessively that they do not match. My Heresy Is do, but my JBLs do not. If they sound great and look great; that's #1 on my list........ Enjoy!
  2. I had this happen a few weeks ago. I accidentally clicked on the wrong folder and opened a 192kbs mp3 instead of the 320kbs...... There was a pronounced difference after I realized and switched to the (correct 320kbs) file. I know FLAC sounds even better; but the 320 kbs line is the one I draw in the sand...... (Anything under I usually do not bother having; anything over sounds at least pretty good).
  3. Welcome to The Forum! I suggest Heresy Is for surrounds. Can be found for around ~$400 used in nice shape and they would match the Khorns and Corn very well....... Heritage speakers are 3 way and Reference being 2 way (for the most part) sound very different. (There are exceptions; not sure about your particular models listed.) Good Luck.
  4. Congrats on the setup. I suspect what you are hearing is more accurate; as you describe "cleaner and tighter". I would bet in a few weeks; after you have fully adjusted; you will be really glad you did it. (Just being able to listen late without disturbing kids; etc is a huge plus!) Enjoy!
  5. Yes, do listen to them for at least a few weeks first..... This will establish a good baseline. You will be kicking yourself in the *** because you did not set them up sooner! Those are possibly the best all around speaker (for it's size) that Klipsch has made. And yes.... they can kick you with the bass.....
  6. Glad we could helpo you spend your $.... [] I am not sure what price to suggest for the Sub 12. If you want a quick sale; lower is better. If you are patient; higher.... I would start with ~$100 under the price you paid...... (I believe the warranty is not transferable, unless you have not registered it perhaps?) Good Luck!
  7. I have to say; if you can feel the bass listening to them in that configuration; you are going to damage your ears (becuase the tweeters are so close). Why would you want to harm the one thing that allows you so much pleasure? My HK 430 at the 9 o'clock position with the KG 2s is pretty loud. (With a lot more bass than you would think). These are only 90.5db efficient versus 99db...... Hey; they are your ears; I am just trying to look out for you...... You asked for opinions......
  8. I will add this: Are you dead set on buying new? There are many great options used that would be near or at half price. Craigslist is your friend...... Good Luck.
  9. Droid, Where are you located? I am sure there has to be someone nearby who could come over and offer his assistance. (Not that you are incapable; but someone who has Khorns that are correct might zero in on ths issue much easier).
  10. I say Heresy Is with a sub in a 10 X 12 room would be great. (I ought to know). Just need to have carpet and possibly a few treatments...... I am suggesting 2.1 for music; but I am a traditionalist like that; and I still believe 2.1 channel stereo can not be beat...... Good Luck..... Sorry, no Palladiums here (yet.... someday maybe).
  11. Brunt, Wow; that SUCKS. I hope they do right by you. I have always thought highly of this company........ Most newest generation sealed subs have limit circuitry which prevents the sub bottoming out. (The Emo U 12 does). I would not want to have my system cranked for friends over watching a movie and have that start happening!!!
  12. Congrats! Maybe someday I will be financially able to get these; or Jubes; etc..... For now; I LOVE what I have...... I am VERY fortunate; because even with my system, I experience more than 80% of the people out there....... You are one of the few who are experiencing even better than I. Kudos to you! When can I come over? [] Congrats on the system!
  13. Point taken; but either way; he is not getting an accurate soundstage with the woofers at his feet 2 feet away and the mids partially blocked by the desk. Also, Those Chorus IIs are efficient. 99db.... They get loud very VERY easily. A lot of potential for great sound is being lost; and the potential for ear damage is present. (Remember, he said 9 hours a day). I am not saying ditch the Chori; just move them to a safe distance (and one that can spread the soundstage properly) or get smaller speakers that it is easier to do so with...... My .02
  14. Ouch. Dude; first off; Glad you are OK. Second; definitely check your receiver to be sure no damage was done to it. (Same goes for the Panamax). A+1 to Dennie's advice. You need to call Denon and PAnamax. Good Luck.
  15. My experience with my HK 430 is similar. I believe "Contour" is synonymous with "loudness"? (Makes sense to me). I have to say; you are going to kill your ears. Chorus IIs were not intended for extreme nearfield listening. I suggest moving the desk as far away from them as possible; while toeing them in to maintain soundstage. You need to be at LEAST 6 feet away from them at all times; IMHO. OK..... WHO AM I BS ING? I suggest different speakers for that application. You are going to kill your ears! Titanium tweeters 2 feet from your ears for 9 hours a day? Tinnitus is no joke! Sorry Dude.... I respectfully submit this is NOT very smart. FWIW; My HK430 sounds great with KG 2s. (Something like these might be a better option, but they should be at least BARE MINIMUM 5 feet away from your ears)......
  16. You are going to need to check the wiring to that woofer. I will let someone with Belles explain exactly how to remove the woofer (if you need to remove it). It is possible the wiring at the crossover may have just come loose. Good Luck!
  17. Besides that fuse; there is at least one more inside. You need a multimeter to test a fuse. You will be checking continuity. Not to sound harsh; but Google is your friend regarding this.
  18. The Epik is sealed. My Emotiva is only 19" X 19" X 19"..... The larger size is to tune the cabinet to lower frequencies (for a ported sub).
  19. SubX, Fingers crossed for ya! Also; glad you are happy with the subs. I agree; an excellent value for what they are......... []
  20. SPL= Sound Pressure Level The legend likely can get lower. My Emotiva really starts dropping off around 24hz. The actual dropoff on the Emo begins between 30hz and 28 hz. It is a difference; but you can not always trust the manufacturer's claims. For a budget sub, The Emo is about the best you will find new; with that kind of (transferable) warranty. The Epik costs a bit more; but is also a kick *** sub that can get lower. For me; a lot of the fun was the research..... Good Luck.
  21. Sorry; I did not see this! The stand in question is super solid! My HK receiver is almost 60 pounds and this thing holds it just fine. The stand itself weighs clloser to 150 pounds, so yes; It holds the tv perfectly...... Again; my apologies for missing this.
  22. http://www.audioholics.com/reviews/speakers/subwoofers/ultra-12 There is one and also I have an older thread with my review. http://forums.klipsch.com/forums/t/137638.aspx?PageIndex=1 SubX; I have not seen him lately, I think he was moving.....
  23. I have not heard the Legend. That being said; I almost bought one. The Emotiva 30 day policy is what sold me. If you do not like it; send it back within 30 days and they refund your $.... Also 5 year warranty is nice as well..... I love the Emotiva and am glad I went with what I did. As Danzo said; a ported sub usually can provide superior HT results. I think my Emo sounds superb with music and excellent with HT also...... I may not get as low as some, but what I get is clean and accurate....... http://www.audioholics.com/reviews/speakers/subwoofers/ultra-12
  24. The Emotiva is a sealed sub. Very tight and accurate bass. If I had to guess; you want something a little more boomy and perhaps exaggerated. Also; Parts Express haqs DIY kits where you install the amp and driver; I have heard good things about these...... Epik subs are great. So is Emotiva. (I love mine). Hsu; Emo; Epik; SVS; ED; and Velodyne all have great subs for sure; and most have offerings ~$500. The Epik would be a big step up from the Sub12. (So would the Emo; IMHO). Where are you located? Damn, you are not near Chicago.... I suggest attempting to hear various subs before buying. (I was going to offer to have you swing by to listen for a bit). Good Luck.
