  1. Sitting here watching the paddles turn round. Doing my magic show on removing solids from raw drinking water trying to find a solution that is best. I guess I just love puzzle solving.
  2. Trying to drink a cup when my little lap dog, Ranger (Great Pyrenees) wants to be petted.
  3. "Eva was founded to develop high-quality multiroom A/V products that would be easy to use and set up and be controlled from a single integrated interface, Yu told TWICE. That continues to be Eva’s goal, but Eva decided it could “accelerate our mission” by partnering with a “more established super-high-quality brand,” Yu explained. “We can’t do it alone as a stand-alone start-up company” because of competition in the CE industry, he said. Yu said he talked “to a lot” of audio companies in the process of choosing a partner." http://www.twice.com/news/audio/bowers-wilkins-purchased-eva-automation/61393 Maybe a sign of things to come?

  5. i find this kinda odd. http://www.techhive.com/article/3064824/consumer-electronics/bowers-wilkins-is-the-trophy-acquisition-of-a-startup-with-high-end-audio-ambitions.html Bowers & Wilkins is the trophy acquisition of a startup with high-end audio ambitions In an unusual deal, a 40-person startup run by a former Facebook executive has swallowed a 1,100-person company that has been around for half a century
  6. Trying to wake up and get going this morning. Talking about engines: Judy's 2015 Mustang EcoBoost with the 4 cylinder engine with turbo is an amazing car. 320 HP at the wheels and as fast as she wants to go. I originally had got her a 2010 370Z Nismo with rear mounted turbo. That car was set up for the track. She hated the 4 point harness and the loudness of the exhaust, but boy did that thing go and handle! It had a little over 500 hp at the wheels and was blazingly fast in the power band. Got to get ready for the big water show in Hot Springs today thru Wednesday, so not much we be posted from this old guy. I always hate to leave the kids alone (dogs), but we have a great dogsitter. They can get in lots of trouble on their own, so we always worry what things will look like when we return. The shop is coming along great. I just can't decide how to lay out the music system. Currently have Epic CF-2 out there, but thinking of hanging the big Altec 9842d on the walls. May put two systems in since I have an office and tech room in part of the building. If so, the JBL 4411 will be in the office.
  7. Most likely a Chevy small block crate motor. Northstar engines were very popular for a while, also. Fiero tranny. Google V-8 Archie for some details. I did a front wheel drive engine into an MGB. Pretty easy except that the water pump had to be electric and remote mounted. S-10 bell housing and clutch mated to a T-5 tranny. The standard MGB rear end was plenty strong enough, but the gearing needed to be reduced to make 1st gear usable. You can put any motor in anything if you have the time, money and patience. 3.1, 3.8, 4.3 small block will fit easily, bigger motors will fit but throw too much weight over the rear wheels. Fiero's used Chevette parts for front brakes among other things if i recall, go juice is nice but you want to be able to stop as well. Maybe better than 4 wheel drums with no power assist but not by far, don't cheap out and do it half assed because those Fiero body structures were no stronger than old beer cans. GM had sorted out all the problems on the suspension in the '88 model, but this is an '86. The suspension is the first priority over the engine type. It has to handle power, or it is not worth it. I thought of keeping the original engine and going with a turbo, that option is still not out, but a little harder to do than the V-8 swap. The 60 degree engines are easier to fit!

  9. At least one part of my shop is completed. New AC and gas furnace. Nothing like having central heat and air in your shop. Making progress. Just difficult laying everything out. I have to keep moving motorcycles around! A couple of 305 Dreams, and CL 160, Cl175, a CL100S, and of course, my 750 Nighthawk. I just hope I have room in it to get the Fiero inside. My have to put up another building just to house the Fiero and BMW. Don't know when I will get around to the Fiero V-8 conversion or restoring the Beemer. Still have pair of Epic CF-2 being driven by an HH Scott 335 (early SS). Get enough room and I can start cycling amps and speakers. In the shop.
  10. Been following Kenrick for several years. I have seen videos of them at least building their own voice coils, etc.
  11. Ran the weed eater a while, then out to the shop. A shop remodel is a real pain when you have a lot of crap in there to begin with. I'll be so glad to get this finished. Got to at least get enough space cleaned out for the AC guy. I have to replace my central heat and air before it gets too hot to work out there. AC cool was shot so decided on new furnace and AC. Certainly is nice to have in the dead of winter and the dog days of summer!
  12. Does anyone else hide their face when going through the new facial recognition cameras being put up on all the Interstate highways? The latest is on westbound I-40 at the new Oklahoma weigh station just across the Arkansas border. Two different stations of cameras to snap pics of everyone in any size vehicle. About a dozen cameras in total. The flash was very noticeable the first couple of months. They have adjusted it down so it doesn't catch your eye as much. The plan of the US Government is to have a facial recognition database of every man, woman, and child in the US. Just really irritates me when every person is treated as a criminal. I first came across these 5-7 years ago at the so called "interior" border check points in New Mexico and Texas, some as much as 200 miles into the US from the Mexican border. Now, it appears they are going to be placed everywhere in the US, according to sources. Big Brother is here!
  13. Hey, I just noticed we have a self-censoring widget on the forum. Neat!
  14. Suns out here in the Arkansas River Valley. No I just have to get myself out. Haven't had breakfast or drugs yet. They seem to go together at this age. Saw where some doc on NBC said Prince's death had to be caused by drugs. Hell, I take a handful of drugs every morning. A real ***** in a year year how to figure out how to pay for all these drugs when I have to be on a Medicare plan. Especially when you have a chronic disease for which there is no cure and is inherited. Mom died at 65 from it, Dad will turn 90 in July. Go figure. Met Zim in Joplin yesterday and handed over the Beta Sound M-100 (the original CornScala). Hope he enjoys them and look forward to hearing what he has done to them when we meet in Hope. It is the only pair I have run across, so they are rarer than hen's teeth. The mid range looks similar to the K-400 but is a Phillip Clements designed horn. T-35 tweets and dust cap vented 15" woofer. Glad they went to a good home. Doubt there will be another pair show up anywhere. Need to gut a Motorola low boy console today. Got the biggest heaviest receiver I have ever seen in a console. It had a truly wonderful sound. 7' long with a Dual turntable, three way speaks. Just taking up too much room. Plan on building a cabinet for the receiver. Massive heatsinks on the back.
  15. I am tempted, just because I know both on the inspection label. I tend to keep those speakers with labels signed by people I know. Ricky Fawcett also signed my Klipschorns. One of my best friends signed my Belles. Way more than I think they are worth, but nostalgia has always trumped my my cheapness on buying. I bought a black fiberglass single several years ago that was used as a stage monitor. Gave it away to Dave Miller at Speakerworks since he also had a single that matched. Used that single as a center channel for a few years between my Belles before that.
  16. I was under the impression that Kenrick didn't just restore, but built all the drivers and horns in house for their version of the big JBL monitors?
  17. "Fans of the Nashville Predators have modified the octopus-throwing tradition of Detroit Red Wings fans to show their support: on occasion, a fan will throw a catfish onto the ice. The Tennessean newspaper in Nashville cites the first instance of this on October 30, 2003.[42] At least four catfish were thrown onto the ice after the first Nashville goal on November 13, 2003." - Wikipaedia
  18. They are excellent. But their speakers run into the tens of thousands and up. Their are lots of plans out there to build your own. Populating them will be more difficult, though. I sold my 4333a's to a guy in Dallas that builds cabinets off JBL's plans. I have tried to convince him to build me a set of 4355's, but it is down on my list of things to do right now.
  19. Received the NBS preamp. Haven't opened the box, but will do that tonight!
  20. I have a Panasonic DVD with remote I was going to donate to Savers. You are welcome to it. I would have to look at what the outputs are.
  21. Me either. Seems like the finals we be a let down (maybe).
  22. "Who the f**k is Alice?" - Dr. Hook and the Medicine Show
  23. Retired and took care of my father for a couple of years. He decided to go to assisted living and I went back to work. He will be 90 this July. Judy and I had to take his "girlfriend" Sunday to Cracker Barrel for lunch. Did it a little different this time. We came back to Alma and met up with my son. It had been awhile since he was able to see one of his grandsons, so the extra drive was worth it. At least he got to make out with his girlfriend in the back when we drove her back to Dover. I try to check only my side mirrors when that is going on....
