  1. Here's the second one that a friend emailed me today of some poor soul actualy getting sucked out of the plane. What a breathtakenly awful sight.
  2. Have any of you guys seen these photos yet? They are supposedly retreved from a memory stick from a camera recovered from the plane that went down in the Atlantic in route from Brazil to France. Are these real?
  3. Well guys, check out my new shop set up. Pretty high speed huh?
  4. None of us are going to be coming over untill you get the liquor caninet re-stocked.
  5. Well, life goes on. I started work on a set of cabinets today in my driveway. It will have to do untill we can get stuff moved to a new space. It's a funny looking set up. I should have taken a picture. Maybe I will tommorow. Winchester, did you take any pictures of your table? I'd like to see what it looks like.
  6. Here's another shot of the table. We spent the day ripping out a thousand dollars worth of electrical work so that the building inspector wont have anything to write us up for next week. The good news is that I think we might have a line on another space that we set up in. I'd like to thank you guys for your kind words and concern. It's been a rough couple of days.
  7. Well, I got the table done. I think it came out pretty good. It's been delivered and everything is cool with that. Here's the deal with the shop. When I moved in there 11 years ago the facility had just been built and was zoned for storage only. I told the owner at that time that I wanted to use the space to set up a small work shop. He was fine with that as he wanted to get his units rented. Most of what I built in there was for my own personal use such as speakers and furniture for the house. As time went on people saw what I was doing and rented space to set up their own shops. So we evolved to a point where half of the tennets were running tools in their units. That came to an end Wedsday when the fire marshall showed up to do an inspection on outdoor fire extingishers and found us running a full fledged wood shop. He instantly got a hard on for us and turned us in to zoning and building inspections as there was never a permit pulled for the electrical upgrades that we did.
  8. Well, maybe not. I was getting ready to put the finishing touches on the table this afternoon when a Wilmington fire marshal showed up at my shop this afternoon because somebody left the security gate open and informed me that I can no longer work in my shop because the building does not have a sprinkler system or overhead ventilation. I can't believe in this current ecconomic crisis that we live in that somebody can just come along and take your livelihood away. I've been there for11 years. When I think about the speakers and stuff I've built there it makes me want to cry. I'll figure something out.
  9. Thanks dtel. Yeah this old pine is pretty hard but still machines well. The biggest problem I've found with it is high oil content of the pine gums up sand paper very quickly. I'm getting ready to head to the shop now. Maybe I can finish the table today. I'll post some more pictures this afternoon.
  10. Thanks Dee I'll get some pictures in the church for sure.
  11. Here's one of the finished legs. I'm having a cnc inscripition done on the front skirt board '' In Remembrance of Me'' that should be done in the morning so I should have it assembled and finished on Friday.
  12. Heres one with the top finish sanded and the legs fluted.
  13. Here I have the top in clamps glued up. If you look close you can see the the three sets of book matched pieces.
  14. I thought some of you forum woodworkers might be interested in seeing some pictures of a Comunion Table I'm building for a local church. I'm building it out of reclaimed heart pine. The top will be 3' x 5'. It will stand 35'' high. In this first picture I've got the wood planed and joined.
  15. Wow Seti you're right. I should have looked more closely. It would be interesting to know more about the material used and the build process. But at this point it will probably remain a mystery.
  16. That looks like a custom build to me. It must be a two way set up. The way the builder made the top hat fit the Altec multi-cell horn is very creative. That driver looks like a large format Altec, maybe a 288 or 291. I'd love to see some more pics. Maybe one of the crossovers?
  17. I used to have a Mac 2505 which has the same speaker hook ups as the 250. For K-horns the + lead from the speaker goes to the 8 omn tap. The - goes to common.
  18. Do you have a website? If so, can you post a link?
  19. I get the impression that Buddy has got a chip on his shoulder.
  20. Yup, that's the same amp my dad built back in the early 60's along with a matching tuner. When I got into tube amps a few years ago I asked dad if he still had the old Heathkits. He said he gave them to my bro in law who traded them for some ss gear. Argggg............
  21. That amp looks mint. Do you have a picture of the front?
  22. You just have to weed through the bad posts. I resemble that remark.
  23. For what's it worth It's been my experience that missing the sweet spot was not a matter of inches but a mere fraction of inches.
