  1. I'm just bummed that Dawahares closed. But I think it is a good thing. Travis
  2. Those are very very nice. I have a pair in black, what do you think it would be for a set in black? Again, very nice work. Travis

  6. Edgy, I think Gil has given you an excellen summary of what has been kicked around here for a long time. I really like the Watco Rejuvenating oil. I lot of folks like just simple BLO but I would add, from what I have read from several sources, BLO will also darken the wood over time. You can also try Tung oil on a spot to see if you like that. Unless the speakers are in a harsh enviornment, (sunlight, heat, etc.) it is something you do once every couple of years. Old English is more of a monthy thing to clean and dust with, but I'm wondering what folks recommend for oil finished Klipsch, that are already in good shape, to clean and dust with that does not react with the oil finish or create a build-up that you have to deal with when it is time to reapply Watco or other oil. 7. Is this the same poster? If so, I think about 50 of us got ours about 2 years ago. Grasshopper, I believe you are correct. http://forums.klipsch.com/forums/t/79658.aspx?PageIndex=1
  8. TIm, I don't have the Anniv Ed, whatever that was, but I have a brand new one in the tube from a couple years back when they were sending out free posters. Let me know if you want it. Did you find my boot yet? Travis

  10. I second Gary's suggestion of Chet Baker sings. I have have a first pressing of it and it is something pretty special. I would also like to suggest to you Chet Baker In New York; and Picture of Heath If you are looking for this in CD go directly to Concord Music for some good deals. http://www.concordmusicgroup.com/artists/Chet-Baker/ They are having some discounted offers now they you might be of interest. Since your interest was sparked by trumpet players I would also like to suggest that you check out Jon Faddis. My favorite trumpeter of all time. Travis
  11. K9's? I would hope they wouldn't want to put K9's in those boxes. I just checked in garage and I am sure I mush hace the 1132's or whatever you called them because I couldn't hear any barking, movement or other sounds from inside the boxes so they could not possibly contain K9's. My gosh, I thought you were a dog lover. Do I need to come up there and rescue Tubby? Or is this you trying to pull my leg or some play on words associated with Woofers. Woofers, K9's, get it? Please clarify your previous post for a non-proffesional. thanks Travis
  12. This is easy: This is very easy: 8. Image X-10 7. KPT-1201 6. AWR 650 SM (Rock Speaker) 5. KSP-400 4. KPT-250 3. CF-4's 2. KPT-884 1. TSCM Waiting to hear my DCR-Jubes so not sure where these will fit yet. Travis
  13. They are for sure still sealed, I didn't want to open anything so as not to impede my obtaining an RA for an expidited return. Where should I send them, Naples or Indy? Travis
  14. Ahhh Ha!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I knew there was a mistake, they should have sent the professional stuff to the professional and not to me. As far as paint inside the throat, I don't have any idea. That's why I have a painter dude, so he can worry about it and figure it out. Then Luther makes sure the Painter dude did in fact really figured it out. However, I understand it is a very high end autobody place so I would figure they have a long specialized sprayer to reach these types of areas. If not, I guess there is always Krylon, no runs no drips no errors. Travis
  15. Greg, I might end up sending them to you to see what you can do it terms of dressing them out. I am also considering having Luther's friend in Burbank, CA, with a giant CNC machine, make a pair of solid wood 402 horns, identical to the original (yes including the bumps, and yes I have a license). The price is quite, quite expensive to do that, however. But I don't need to tell you any of that. I am having trouble coming up with ideas on how to finish them out other then to paint them with high quality paint. If you try and trim them in wood it seems like you are just accenting their massive size. Travis
  16. Today 4 giant boxes arrived at my house. However, there must be a mistake. On the side of each box is a large logo saying "Klipsch Professional." I know there must be some mistake because I'm only an amateur. Is someone else out there expecting a delivery from Klipsch? Did someone get my speakers by mistake? There they sit in the garage for now until we can figure out what the mixup is, or, find a "Professional" to set them up. More to follow. Travis
  17. Excellent question. Luther is thinking either black, to add some contrast, precut matching veneer in 3/4' strips, or a contrasting wood veeneer. We are thinking, going strictly from the photos at this point, that black will make an excellent contrast. However, it is obviously going to depend on how the bass bins end up. I also need to pick a color for the 402 horns, they are "raw" which means they are going to look similar to frosted glass. They will be painted in Sherman Williams Automotive Laq., by a professional automotive finisher. This is the same finish that Klipsh uses to paint them black, but I will be going with some sort of dark hued earth tone. Travis
  18. There is no higher rating in my book than a "Top Notch" from JB. Hope I don't screw this up. Travis
  19. Jorjen, Good to hear from you, it has been awhile. Actually, I was thinking about teakoil and in fact there is a teakoil/tung oil blend that is on the market. Roy sent me 4 6" x 6" double sided "off fall" (that's what they call scrap at Klipsch) so teak and teak/tung will for sure be in the sample mix. Travis
  20. Patient, not at all. I told Roy to take his time on them and not worry about rushing them through. I knew all of the headaches and time it was going to take on his part to even get everyone at Klipsch to sign off on them. I am quite sure I owe Chuck a bottle on something in this regard. I knew he was really going out on a limb to get them done and I also knew going in that it was going to take a considerable amount of time. On the sound part, my understanding is that the sound could NOT be different with the new design and cut list. It apparently has a particualr voicing that cannot be messed with and so the new bins with the bracing had to be tested in the chamber to make sure there was no difference in terms of the sound. However, the changes have, I believe, resulted in lower resonance which is for sure a plus. I don't know all of the details about the changes, in terms of construction, differences, etc. Roy is in a much better position to address the specifics. I have tried to keep up with the differences in general, but a lot has slipped by. Travis
