  1. James, I forgot about those photos, that is when he still had blue eyes; now deep green. He has mellowed out a lot, but he can still have his moments. Kelly's hands and arms are not nearly so torn up and scratched. He can be scrappy once in awhile, but I like that. I figure better us them the grill cloth-I sure would have to go down for killing a cat. Travis
  2. I take it you were not impressed with those photos of the cornwall III being made?
  3. now now...... Remember the laws in america are made to protect the minorities against the majority and vice versa..... The laws are there to protect everyone equally in case one day that you may be arrested. It is a slippery slope if we allow a certain group to be punished much more then what the law states.... It wouldn't be nice to allow the police to beat you up for say a traffic violation as it would not be fair for someone to be killed because the wardened allowed it. What Jay has said, in large part, is true. It is painted with some broad strokes, but this is our constitutional foundation. Criminal law is, in large part, is constitutionaly based, and it is has to work from top to bottom. In other words, the same protections, defenses, rules have to apply to a charge whether it is possession of marijuana, distribution of cocaine, murder, or even sexual assault of a child. The same works for punishment, someone who goes to prison for child molestation has the same right to be free from "Cruel and unusual punishment" as someone convicted of Possession of Marijuana, or bank fraud, or not paying taxes. It is up to the legislature to establish punishment ranges, minimum terms, etc., which is a matter of policy. If you think child molesters in your state have it too easy then that is not the fault of the "criminal justice system" then that is your legislators' fault . A man a lot more eloquent and smarter then me once said: "The true measure of a civilized society is how it treats people accused of crimes." - Winston Churchill I believe that the same can be said oh how a society treats people convicted of crimes. (I am not making any comment one way or the other on the death penalty, I am not even going there). Travis
  4. Shinerman, They have not sold yet "per se" but Seti expressed an interest and is goning over photos, etc. and I am waiting to look at some photos of his Belles. I think we should know by the end of the weekend whether or not Seti is going to go forward or not. Where are you located? Travis
  5. I aint going if Michael isn't going to be there. What's this "probably" business? After last year's date I am sure they scheduled this year around you., we just gotta have Mr. Mountain-O-Klipsch there. Travis
  6. When I saw this post, given my recent discovery of ear damage, I was hoping to hear about some new wonder drug. Guess it will have to do for now. Travis
  7. I think that is the problem I am having, I don't really know where this time frame came from. If, as you say, the dealer was forwarding information from Klipsch, and IF, Klipsch said they would have the product by a certain date, then Klipsch is to blame, and they need to train there people that it is o.k. to let people know that they can only give an estimate as to complition and there are no guarantees. But the purchaser said that he was told by the dealer that it was going to be 4 to 6 weeks, and later the dealer said that Klipsch orginally said it was going to be 3 weeks but the dealer gave a longer estimate to cover themselves. I just don't believe Klipsch would tell any dealer it would be 3 weeks. I could believe "as soon as 3 weeks but up to 12 weeks depending on when the next run is." Somewhere it needed to me made clear that is an estimate and that it could take longer. In 2004 what were you told would be the wait to have the KHorns built? Was there an agreement that they would be delivered to you by a certain date, or were you given a estimate as to when they would be finished. I doubt the dealer in this case "agreed" to any date, according to the buyer they were already doubling the time estimate because they knew there delays. There is no way they would agree to a date, and they would have no authority to bind Klipsch to a delivery date. It is either the buyer's fault for not specifying a delivery date, or the dealer for not making it clear that the time was an estimate. However, who breached what is not the point, the buyer said that the dealer was willing to refund his money or let him purchase something else. So the real question is does the buyer think it worth the wait for Klipsch, or does he punt and go with something else. The dealer and manufacturer are not one, that relationship went out with Bestbuy and the box stores. I do agree with you that the manufacturer is only as strong as it's dealer network and the dealer is only as strong as the brands it carrys. I don't really think it matters why there were delays; is the buyer going to be happy if the reason was they got a bad batch of wood and in order to maintain high quality they rejected it and had to wait for a new batch any more then if he was told that everyone decided to take an extra few days off because the fish were really biting good down at the ole fishing hole? All he knows is that he does not have his speakers. What he needs to know is if the manufacturer is aware of the problem and if he can get accurate information at this point. They are and the man who is on it will only give the straight scoop, even if it is not what the buyer wants to hear. I am really curious as to what kind of estimate you were given in '04 and if the dealer gave you a range or window. I would guess that you were probably told 4 to 6 months depending on the number of orders placed, but just a guess. Travis
  8. I am not sure, I am hoping too. I was all set to go to Hope but had a family emergency at the last moment. A chance to mess with Michael, how could I pass that up? He probably forgot, but he and I were supposed to go to the 500 this year, but that was before he got is killer Fortune 500 job with you know who; so who knows what is in the works with that. I have really good friends in Louisvile, just across the river, and over in Lexington. I have always wanted to tour all of the bourbon makers in KY, that would be a good before or after side trip. Gosh I am talking myself into this more and more. YES I'M GOING. Well maybe, depends on a couple of things and I hope to know for sure early next week. Travis
  9. I don't know about suave, but he has great taste! Yes the cartridges start coming over this weekend, Koetsu, Shelter and Benz, those ones I mentioned at the beginning of this post. I did some more checking and the outputs for Shelter are listed as follows: 501 0.3mv 901 0.5mv 7000 0.5mv 9000 0.6mv The Benz wood body of course comes in 3 output variations, 0.3mv, .8mv or 2.5mv The Koetsus are .4mv. So I am looking forward to trying all of them in one confguration or another, all except that Ureshi that is, think I will just look. Travis
  10. That is where Steinway is made, by hand, the way they have done it for 150 years. Steinway has a furniture line as well, along with furniture care and marble care products. Would not surprise me if they had a a facility that could do finishing for other companies. Who else better do a piano finish then Steinway. Travis
  11. When you said they sent it out to have it done I didn't think it would be just black lacquer. Klipsch has been doing black lacquer forever, there really wouldn't be a need for them to outsource it, but a special piano type finish, which believe is lacquer also, I could easily see them having to go outside the facility. I think there are lot more steps to that finish. Did they say where they sent them to be finished? Travis
  12. Bluebery arrived as promised! I got the Blueberry from Mark right on time as promised. I posted lots of photos when I first got the Blueberry last fall and at that time our cat, Jack, was absolutely fascinated with the preamp. He would not leave its side. I was never a cat person, never owned one before and never really cared for them, but I lost a bet with my wife and poof, we got a little baby kitten about 10 months ago. Cats sure are intuitive, at least this one is. He figured out I would warm up to him if he curled up in my lap every evening. He sucks up to my wife by sleeping by her feet every night and keeping them nice and warm. Well tonight I started to take the Blueberry out of the box and he came running and it was like he had his old best friend back again. I thought it might just be a fascination with boxes, wrapping material, etc. but I have opened lots of other boxes and he might give a look, or attack the bubble wrap for a minute but then he is off just as quick as he came. Not with the Blueberry, he curls up with it, and he is just enamored with it. So, needless to say, my opinion of Jack has risen immeasurably, after all, a cat that is into a preamp more then I am cant be too bad. I think I can officially say that the Blueberry has once again passed inspection by Jack and he has given it his Official Seal of Approval. Either that or he is getting high off the tung oil.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /> Here is a couple of photos of the BBX, and then a couple of the turntable. The Basis Vector tonearm at the back of the unit, and that is the one we are working on finding a good cartridge to match with it over the next few days. Travis
  13. That sounds like a good deal for both of us Travis. When are you coming up here? Not till June or July I'm afraid. I wish I could get up there sooner. I have a client with some land in Kennebunkport (Sp?) he wants me to take as part of a fee on a case. Are you close to there at all? Travis
  14. What I meant was that you are in the center of a hugh concentration of people, which Del. and NH would fit into. The mileage from NYC to NH would not even get me out of Texas. Now Ohio and Fla. kind of threw me. I would think they could get higher prices there. You must really hunt em down. Travis
  15. You are welcome to come by any time to listen to my Khorns (while I still have them) with tube amps (VRD's from Craig at NosValves). I live by Westlake H.S. and we will be around all this weekend, out of town the following weekend, and then back for awhile after that. Send me an email and we can set it up. Travis
  16. Cornwalls or Belles, I am not 100% certain yet. You can sort of tell from the photos that the Khorns are set up for two channel on the long wall. I have KSP-400's for home theater on the short wall. I just got tired have having to rearrange furniture, speakers to go from home theater listening to 2 channel. The K horns will not fit on short wall, missing a corner and not enought room to do false corner, so K horns are going, KSP's are going, and Cornwalls or Belles will serve as fronts for 2 channel and home theater. If I like what I hear, I will get rid of the KSP rears and buy two more Cornwalls or Belles as the case may be. I had LS's before, and assume that Belles are going to be very similar. I ran them without a sub, I have a sub now. It is going to be very difficult going back, heard so much about Cornwall sound I think that is really the most interesting to me. I have a pair coming over this weekend to try out. Travis
  17. It was a little funny.[] I have heard the term piano finish before but I am not really sure what that is. Did they say what was involved in doing a piano finish? Must be very specialized of they sent it out to have it done. Travis
  18. Congratulations!!! Good for you. I cannot wait to see photos, if possible. Travis
  19. You should have a bunch of photos, in about 4 or 5 emails, let me know if you did not receive them. Travis Nothing so far email address is iain42 @ gmail.com no spaces of course. Thanks! Seti Oppps, Operator error, they should be there now. Travis
  20. Just in case you really are confused...those are 60th Anniversary K-horns....the piano finish is a real piano finish which was outsourced by Klipsch...the dead giveaway is that PWK logo in the middle on the bottom of each speaker, with the shiny little l/4 quarter carat genuine diamonds!!!! Unless my vision is so poor I am seeing things in the pics that aren't really there. Leave it to a woman to be able to pick out 1/4 diamonds from 20' away. Travis
