For $500 I would stick with what you have and get a good cartridge, several have been recommended. Save your money for a vpi scout, don't bother with anything in between. I say this out of financial efficiency, i.e. buzz per dollar. JMO obviously.

That being said, a cartridge mass in the 4.5 to 5.5g range should work well with the op's arm.

Only a collector would be interested and I'm not sure if anyone does that sort of thing. The whiskey itself depending on exposure to light may or may not be drinkable. At least it is in glass and not plastic, but the color looks off in the photo. Once spirits are bottled they gain nothing from age, and usually lose a lot over time. You never know, someone born in 1961 might be interested. The stand would be of as much interest as the rest of it.
