  1. What I am wondering, and this is a question not an implication that you are incorrect, is how do you know that they should be slow blow?
  2. Doc, I would be honored to proof read your book! Jim, The good Doctor is correct that a project like that would be very hard, read that darn near impossible, to manage on this forum. And I am just referring to the way the forum software works not dealing with the personalities of those using it. You need to have someone in control of each section, like an editor. I agree a separate web site that allows the "contributors" to submit items to the "editor" for that section has the potential to work much better. You could also look at past threads here or create new threads to get the raw material. And just so the good Doctor does not feel lonely: ---------------- On 7/20/2005 11:18:00 AM jim-analog wrote: ... I think it would be a great resource to have and am willing to host it on my wwww site if that would work for everyone and no better ideas arise... ---------------- There are only 3 w's in World Wide Web.
  3. Unless I am mistaken, and that has happened before, the 3AG refers to the mechanical form - 1-1/4" x 1/4" and could be ether fast or slow blow.
  4. But it has absolutely NO DISTORTION!!!

  7. Any Heritage speaker will play jazz wonderfully! I think your coworker is just looking for an excuse to get the Belles.
  8. First, welcome to the forum! I have a pair of Khorns in a 25' x 13' x 8-9.5'. Due to the room layout the horns are on the 13' wall. They still sound fine. Note: I did have to make a new top for the bass bin that allowed me keep the bin in the corner and toe in the HF section.

These were called Cornwall II and Heresy II. Edit: Also, I believe they stopped making the Corns in '90 but I am not positive about that.
  10. I don't think they would have to be wood. Pictures of wood on plastic would probably be fine - as long as, when you are not real close, they look like Heritage!
  11. ---------------- On 7/18/2005 9:51:18 PM popbumper wrote: ... 2) Would the Corn thereby work as a good center between Khorns? ... ---------------- Chris, I am running an '86 CornII for the center channel between a pair of '72 Khorn mains. It works great. In HT the voicing is similar enough that transitions between the center and sides are smooth. It also runs as a phantom center (L+R) in 2 channel. I am very happy with it.
  12. I seem to remember someone on this forum saying "Get um all, it's a set!"
  13. This makes me wonder What power cables are best for through wall listening?
  14. Patrick, Point taken. But I think I see a problem. Giving someone with that much anger a set of aggravating Blose speakers could be setting up a societal disaster. Who knows, after listening to that he might climb up a tower with a rifle. Klipsch makes many models and for those with a violent temper the Khorns are a better selection. (Actually, I think they are a better option for a lot of other reasons but that is a topic for another day.) After all, people with a bad temper or in a bad mood probably need good quality soothing music more than the rest of us. The Khorns will take the inevitable abuse prior to the soothing music taking hold much better than the RB75s. As John Cameron Swayze used to say "They take a licking and keep on ticking!" I also noticed that my math was incorrect in my earlier post. It should have read 120 anger incidents not 100. I apologize for any confusion this may have caused.
  15. Ok, you do get 5 anger incidents and one very good woofer trashing out of the Blose system but I bet each plywood reinforced Khorn would take more than 10 times that abuse, or 100 anger incidents, and still produce better music!

Also some day you may want a real Specturm Analyzer... ---------------- Bob, You seem to be stating that there are some deficiencies with the computer - soundcard - software implementation of a spectrum analyzer. Is that true? If so what are they? (Or am I just reading too much into your post?)
  17. Gee Bob, there you go raining on our little parade by injecting reality! Of course, as usual, you are completely correct in every respect. But, and you knew there would be a but, Who is a starving collage kid and I happen to like to make the few items in or near my stereo system that I am capable of building. (Building a power supply is approaching the limits of my capabilities!) While I won't presume to speak for him I have the impression that the good Doctor enjoys DIY. Also, we are located in the same graphical area and have discussed getting together before; this project would make an excellent excuse to do that. I am chalking this up to being part of the hobby so the $ and time issues dont have to be rational.
  18. If they would keep quiet I would have no problem letting them live.
  19. Doc, what do you have against using batteries?
  20. Filter caps are the answer - even if I am not quite sure what your question was.
  21. I particularly like the pressure gauge! My tt does not have one of those!
  22. ---------------- On 7/17/2005 3:31:35 AM DrWho wrote: ... What would be the downside if any of introducing a DC adapter to those designs instead of using batteries? Does the amperage rating matter or should I be more concerned about the voltage output? ---------------- The only problem I see is that some of those wall warts have some serious 60 Hz ripple in the dc output. I don't know how sensitive the mic is to ripple. The batteries may be a pain but they do produce clean power. As far as the current draw goes it is not listed on the spec sheet but I doubt the mike will suck up very much. Contact me first if you decide to build something - I am also interested one and we might be able to save a couple of pesos on shipping if we buy the parts for two on one order. BTW, I have an ECM8000 and you are welcome to borrow it if you like.
  23. Congratulations!!! Are you related to thebes? You both spin great yarns!
  24. As opposed to the polished gems the rest of us come up with? You and E. F. Hutton have a lot in common!
  25. Great idea but my cat is 18 years old and gave up worrying about crickets several years ago.
