  1. It depends on how much beer you mix with the popcorn. I would have to say 125F at the exit point. JJK
  2. If you pull in new wires you will sleep better. JJK
  3. Jeff Mathews: No, I did these adjustments myself on a 1978 buick skyhawk v6 and reset the factory timing up about to the pinging point then backed it down a hair. The milage jumped up (highway 600 mile trip) from 21 to 32 mpg. And on small block Corvettes (1969, 1970, 1971, 1974, 1976, 1977, 1978, which jumped the milage up from about 16/17 to 24/25 highway. Around town you could get around 15 and worse if you tried hard. Also did the same on a 1976 buick full size with a v6. The problem with new vehicles is the computer is in full control of the timing and if the engine starts to get too hot (240 F) the computer backs the timing down to compensate and horsepower and milage go out the window. The latest Corvettes do this also to protect the engine from pinging but with high compression, reverse coolant flow, dry sump and a normal temp of 240 F. the engines run hotter than a popcorn fart and with computer control can squeeze out 25 mpg with these setups. To run the Vette setup with a regular 4 banger isn't economically viable, yet. JJK
  4. That's why PWK used a Cornwall for a center channel. And also Bell Labs. And also me. JJK
  5. If a manufacturer does not build a set to ISF standards how then can an ISF alignment be accomplished to align a set perfectly when the set is not capable of a perfect alignment? JJK
  6. Your receiver test setup has all the stuff. Well, maybe it doesn't but check your manual. All you should need is the Shack Meter. MCMELECTRONICS.COM has the CD's. JJK
  7. Bud ain't that bad but it ain't that good. I had some Mickilobe? Ultra the other day and it was pretty good. JJK
  8. Well like I said before the new cars have the fuel and timing computer controlled for a combustion temperature of 1450 F to reduce Nitrous oxcides. If you don't care about polution (and want to be naughty) you can jack up the timing another 6 degreees or so and improve your milage about 20%. So you would have to have another computer chip to do the job because the distributers are not moveable. Solid state coils (that replace the distributer) are computer controlled also. If the EPA relaxed the polution rules most vehicles would pick up another 20% milage. JJK
  9. If you purchase the service manual for your set it will tell you how to access the service menu. There is also a default setting for these adjustments which may or may not get you back to where you started. JJK
  10. It might be kind of hard to find some of the models as the major retailers only list some of them or none at all. The reviews on the HD-A35 on Newegg and B & H were very good for the video and audio.Mine works just fine. JJK
  11. I use cat 5 cables at $6.00 each for 6 ft length for my networks and also 50 footers with my Avelink. Will this be another "coat hanger" thread? JJK
  12. I never really liked pro basketball. It should be renamed Rollerball with all the pushing, shoving, bumping, elbowing, backjumping, constant double dribbles, constant palming, constant steps, fouling only if the refs feel like calling it, etc. My solution is to raise the baskets 2ft to 12 ft, making the shot count for 1 point if hit hits the rim on the way in, 2 points for net, 3 points for net at the proper distance and 2 points if it hits the rim on the way in, and have the choice of foul shots at regular distance or from 3 point territory. If the refs called all the fouls the game score would be like hockey and soccer. JJK
  13. I stopped watching after the 24 point deficit (kind of like the Cavs). Then they scanned the Boston bench and those dudes looked really pissed off. It's a wonderment. JJK
  14. The old Bud used to make you pee-pee a lot. Also bud is not a very exciting beer in the taste department. They have nice comercials though. JJK
  15. Gil: Yes, you are correct. I visited later on watching my cousin graduate from Great Lakes. You know how memories get confused with old people. JJK
  16. It was getting harder for me to chug-a-lug Genny Cream Ale so I switched to plain old Genessee. The Coors goes down quick also. JJK
  17. Gil: What building was I in? I remember it had double stage elevators, first one so many floors up, second one the rest of the way. JJK
  18. I was in Chicago in 1959 and watched the Maguire Sisters at the Che Perree and with Stitch Henderson 2 feet away riding up in that rickety elevator to the third floor. Rode the North Shore and went to the Sears tower top floor. Took the boat trip too. Stayed at the Lake Tower Motel and went swimming on the 7th floor outside. I liked Chicago a lot. JJK
  19. 1......Make sure the processor fan is running and that it is clean. Same with video card fan and cabinet fans and power supply fans. 2......With the power off and unplugged remove and re-insert all memory cards, and connectors on the motherboard and the hard drives and dvd drives. 3......After turning on the computer go into the bios and check the fan data, that is if will stay on. 4......Bad memory chips will cause that problem. Also power supply, processor fan, and bad caps on the motherboard. Also a loose connector. 5......Absolutely get rid of all Symantic software and use something else. If this was on when you installed SP-3 your machine is corrupted. 6......If your machine is 3 or more years old consider a new one. At this age it is probably 10 generations behind. 7......Hard drives have special test discs that tell you if it's bad. If the data is critical I would try it in another machine. If it works Ok that means something failed in the other machine. 8. ....These are the simple things to check. Good luck. JJK
  20. The Avia test DVD that I used had the whole schmeer, HD, SD, Color, Black & white, resolution, black levels, contrast, brightness, overscan, linearity, power supply loading and home theatre. My 1080P Sony just flew right through every test, including the ones looking through the special color plastic at the test squares. My eyes say it is as good as it gets OTA, HD-DVD, DVD, WMV, and direct feed from my Sony Z1 HD camera (1440 x 1080). Now I used to have an old Rollie 2 1/4 x 2 1/4 slide projector that would project a slide on the ceilings and the floor with the zoom lens with absolute wow quality. The LCD HDTV has the same wow quality at a very much smaller screen until you switch from HD to SD or analog. I will concede that with the pro calibrator you can take the accuracy from 98.9% to 100%. 21. You know, 3 db here, 3 db there and pretty soon you have 30 db. JJK
  22. While I haven't tried all models my Toshiba HD-A35 has never stumbled ($249.00) I have also had LG, Pioneer, JVC, and Avelink models and the Toshiba is the best of them. JJK
  23. If you have the "bucks" try digitalconnection.com. Or newegg.com. B & H Photo.com in New York has lots of good stuff. Anything that says "1080P" will cost you lots. And then there is the HDMI 1.3a thing. JJK
  24. You know, I just tried some Miller Genuine Draft and it is pretty good even in the cans. I also tried the Coors Light, Genesse-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- JJK
  25. CECAA850: I find some of your statements very hard to believe knowing that electronic color monitors are at least 10 times more color sensitve than the human eye. My Kodak Ecktachrome test print also matches what I see on my HDTV, but those are my eyes doing the comparison. If your man was in my living room I would not let him touch my TV with a ten foot pole. And my TV is only 8 bit. In fact, I wouldn't let anyone touch my TV and in fact no one does. JJK
