  1. Maybe Trey will tell us if you can position the Jubliee Bass Bins next to the Wall or how much space they require behind them to operate properly? Inquiring minds want to know.
  2. This Shinall looks like a great deal! -- Maybe they'll make some Jublilee like Speakers too!
  3. Anyone compared the Chorus to other Heritage Klipsch? Are they better or worse than Cornwalls or La Scalas?
  4. Rich, After you get the tweeters fixed, I can just hear your next post. OH MY GOD THESE BELLES SOUND FABULOUS!!!! If you could even tolerate comparing them to the Cornwalls without tweeters, they will simple blow the Cornwalls away when you get the Belles Fixed.
  5. The ad was probably posted to see how many people he could get to mess their pants.
  6. Does anyone know whether these little speakers can be hooked up to a TV's AVI's outputs. RCA Jacks?
  7. Does anyone know about the positioning of these Low Freq. Cabinets? I thought they had to have about 5 feet of space behind them? How was the speaker set up in Arkansas? - Against the back wall or was there space behind the Jubilee?
  8. Greg, Where have you posted these cornwalls for sale?

There's that big of a difference. The La Scalas open up and sinnnnnnnng like the Heresy IIs could never do. They also dig so deep into the music, dissecting it almost, that you realize you're hearing minute sounds and instruments that you've never really heard, or heard so clearly, before. Therefore, we use the La Scalas for medium to loud listening levels and we use the Heresy IIs for quiet, low, background levels (see my response to the "H/K 730 vs. Crown IC 150 & D150 on Cornwalls and Fishers" thread). ---------------- Get some low powered SET amps and you'll change your mind about Low level listening on the La Scalas. The La Scalas are more efficient. So the amplifier is your problem, not the speakers. You only need a few watts. This will move you up to a level that you will truly not believe.
  10. Thanks for the replies. One question though. I think we'll go with a Minivan. How difficult is it to remove the rear seats?
  11. A buddy of mine is going to pick up a pair of Khorns that he scored. He has to rent a vehicle to haul them. What is the smallest vehicle type that a pair of Khorns would fit into. No pick-up trucks in case of rain. Would a Minivan work with the seats down? A larger SUV? I'm sure some of you here have experience with this sort of thing.
  12. "i've had my ZR amp now for about a year and a half and haven't heard anything better!" Given your history of the amps you've owned, I am sure you haven't!
  13. Can someone here tell me the crossover points of the Klipsch Type "A" network?
  14. I'm not sure what your price range is, but Welborne Labs has some very good 45, 2A3 Amps that have that great 1 watt you're looking for. - albiet at a price of around $1500 per pair of Monoblocks.
  15. Dman, you said "6) put in 3" thick x 18" x 18" piece of fiberglass insulation (with no paper!) or appropriate substitute directly behind the woofer frame (basically cover the back of the woofer frame)" Do you attach the insulation to the frame of the woofer? - If so, with what? Glue? - Or do you attach the insulation on the wood panel opposite the woofer?
  16. Dman, I have built a few speakers and most all of them want you to damp the inside of the cabinets. I think the objective is to try and apply insulation to all hard surfaces inside the cabinet. I have heard of a product called BlackHole 5. Have you ever tried to damp all the surfaces inside the Bass Horn?
  17. The 'AB' crossover is basically terrible. I would go with a Type 'A'.

In fact I've heard and used Klipsch speakers with many amps. I've heard Klipschorns and Cornwalls sound good with SS(Molotky's Khorns for instance sound glorious propelled by Mac SS gear) and I've heard LaScalas sound obnoxious with an AudioNote 300B SET. Why just last night I heard a pair of Cornwalls that sounded MUCH better when powered by a high-power SS amp than when earlier powered by a pair of SETs. I do not buy into the notion that horns must be used with tubes, not at all. ---------------- I have also been in this hobby for over 35 years, so we can agree to disagree. I am firmly in the tube camp. Some people like country music and I can't stand that either. Just recognize that there are a lot of people that love the sound of La Scalas and don't consider them 'earwire' either.

The bass-shy tonal balance of the LSs gives me earwire; a sensation as though a wire was being twisted in my ears. I now find LSs to be quite obnoxious speakers though I did enjoy the ones I owned back in the 1970s; they did get VERY loud afterall. ---------------- Must disagree with you on this one. If you are getting earwire the problem is your amplification. Like Colin said you only need 1 watt, but it's got to be good. I have listened to La Scalas with an excellent pair of 2A3 SET amps and they sounded beautiful! They are very accurate speakers and were reproducing the Distortion that your amps were feeding them. And God forbid, if they were Solid State, I would not have been able to stay in the room.
  20. " I know I'm going to get blasted for this but I just for the life of me can not figure what some people expect/want out of your musical experience. I'm not trying to be nasty here but to me these amps unless done to the absolute extreme sound totally anemic and lifeless. Even built to a extreme the still polite sound they produce quickly wears off on me in a few days. Is it that some people just prefer there system to be overly polite compared to me ? I just do not get it. Some use the word transparent which completely boggles me. To me transparent would be what is pumped in comes out the other side. This is absolutely not the case with these low powered amps and some that have rolled through here this is extreme. There low end response and top end response are extremely limited this being the case measured at 1/2 watt or there max output. I can prove this with a test eqiupment which may not be the way to judge them as a final taste issue but it surely gives me a idea what some folks are after. Again I just don't get it. Craig" I'm sure you're also confused why people would listen to classical music. I'm guessing you're a Country Music and NASCAR Fan. You'll need the specs of a Big Amp to impress your friends in the trailer park. After all, they just got a new double wide!
  21. I have my Khorns, but what I wanna know is what are the $35K speakers? - I might need to upgrade some day
  22. How could an amp with only 3.5 watts per channel blow away one with more power? I think it's impossible.
