  1. Thanks I also forgot to mention they are dated June 1958. 65yo....
  2. I bought these monoblocks many years ago from a Little Rock Central High School teacher. I sent them to hot glass audio for a rebuild. Anyone who remembers that con knows it was a miracle I even got them back. He broke all NOS tubes in shipping. I sold them to my brother because I was frustrated but he just sold them back to me. The nightmare continues. I completely gutted them and rebuilt them from scratch but I did have professional help. I added bias adjustments removed a 12AT7 preamp section and upgraded power supply with a beefier choke and caps. The power tubes switched from, 6550 to KT90's which are from the collection I inherited from Daddy Dee. Thanks again to Daddy Dee. The tube compliment is 2 x KT90, 2 X 5AR4, 2 x OD3, and 2 X 6SN7. They sound really good when turned up but still a little transformer hum to work out. I need to tighten them down. Not sure I need freaking 90 watt amps.
  3. Just looking at the position of the speakers and the substance of the room. That room is hideous. Speakers not in corners. Pathetic setup.
  4. For what it is worth Sovtek and EH are monoplate 2a3. Price a vintage 2a3 monoplate and you will understand lol...
  5. Find a faux painter. I have a friend who can paint any veneer. A good faux painter can make scratches or damage dissappear.
  6. Funny thing is I think I am the one that posted that lol....... Thanks
  7. What time does this start on Friday?
  8. Excellent see you guys there... I wouldn't miss another opportunity to hear the new and improved Jubilee's!!!!!!
  9. Anyone going to see any of the bands or listen to the Jubilee's? If you haven't heard the Jubilees they are a must hear.... It looks like there are two opportunites to hear and see them Friday and Saturday... Maybe @Chief bonehead will chime in...
  10. This is just how crowd funding works. I'm cautiously optimistic we will make it... If we don't make it would you like to publish for the museum? LOL...
  11. Up to $62k and 14 days to go to $83k.
  12. I can't wait to see it I hope it gets enough funding. It is so close.
  13. Who has joined the Kickstarter? it is going really well at almost $60K... https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/loveinjectionnyc/the-dope-from-hope-book This will be the best Dope From Hope Collection of all time. Jim reached deep in the archives. I can't wait to see it I am down for two copies.
  14. Marvel gave me a 707 but after much uses I got frusterated with brittle tape. I passed it along to a young audio junkie. Now I am restoring an old Revox for fun. I love the sound the action the meters...
  15. I believe Cary Audio did a Klipsch specific amplifier.
  16. You were the first to encourage me to go the DIY route... Thanks 8-)
  17. This is the article that started it all. Thanks to Jim Hunter. Then there was this PWK schematic that was related to the article. It isn't secret it iwas wall art at Klipsch in Hope. We were the first to build it 8-) since PWK in 1946. My friend Chris made some minor changes here and there. PWK's electronic crossover and this schematic is what we did. You could do similar with traditional outputs. Ain't nuthin stopping ya 8-) It could easily be a 2A3 version..Since there was no power supply we went overboard. This was on the wall at the museum... Been looking at it for years.
  18. Are those my old MC30's? Most beautiful amps Mac built.
  19. I have a stack of 40's HP gear IT IS HUGE! I bring them up very slowly but yeah the culpret is usually a cap somewhere. Never leave tantalum caps always replace.. I think I replaced 1000 caps in a stack of Sound Technology test gear but hey it all works now.
  20. Here is what I used to setup as curve tracer. Being able to step through caps and parts while in circuit is invaluable tool. Here is a terrible pic of mine. It is also fun to restore scopes of course it helps to have one as a curve tracer to start with.... Check your craigslist I bet there are a handful to choose from.
  21. Yeah there are some cool ones out there I have HP, Tektronix, and a sencore. The sencore is cool because it can measure voltage at the same time but you wouldn't want to tie up that scope for one purpose. I really like the tektronix scopes. There are lots of them and they are affordable. I am rebuilding my workbench from scratch which should be fun.... lol scary.....
  22. I'm using a late 1940's HP Scope and it is fine for this use. Best diagnostic tool I've ever had.
