Typically, people looking to sell without the hassel of running an ad and dealing with lowball offers from buyers will check these listings first. I ran a WTB on Audiogon for Khorns and La Scalas. I bought a pait of '85 Khorns for $1650 in Oiled Oak in sweet shape and had an offer for $750 for La Scalas, but thet were too far from home to do it. FYI, I have had my Khorns for 4 days and they are worth any and all BS from your wife, I promise you. ---------------- I have to agree with you completely. I placed a "want to buy ad" on Audiogon that said I was looking for Belles or La Scalas and within a week someone contacted me wanting to unload a pair of Belles and a custom made subwoofer for $1700. Fair price not a steal but I was happy to get them. If you really want some khorns I would give it a try.

If it just won't come out, a couple of slabs of granite might look cool! You should be able to score them pretty cheap from a countertop fabricator (using sink cut-outs). At least they're not as bad as these Belles... ---------------- Whoever did that to the Belles should be clubbed like a baby seal OMG Thats terrible.....
  4. I just bought a coffee table last weekend with some similar stains. I put a thin coat of paint stripper on let them sit 20 minutes and gently with a rubber scraper scraped off the old finish. Then with a wet rag I cleaned them and let them sit until dry. You want some really fine sand paper to go over the whole speaker with but if the stains don't come out just stain them dark but I would bet they'd come out just fine. If you don't buy them PM me I have a friend who wants another pair
  5. Exactly what I was thinking. They lost a freaking 80 pound behemoth. Something's not right. ---------------- The mob got the La Scala stuffed a body in it and dropped it in the river They are right if anyone can help American Express will great customer service. I have had shippers refuse to pay out on damaged goods but maybe from now on I will buy but with AmEx.
  6. oops misread post Xovers look crazy
  7. I had a similar problem twice with damaged goods from UPS and it has almost convinced me to quit buying used off of audiogon.com. It seems that shipping companies are more interested in protecting themselves than the people they serve no matter what insurance you buy. They make the rules.
  8. http://www.the-music-cable.com/ I think I paid $80 for these from a friend who got them used off audiogon but decided to go the balanced route. I also got some interconnects from the same person very cheap. I would never pay high prices for cables but the tunes seem to flow through them ok. LOL. I couldn't image writing a review of speaker cables without laughing like I do at the ads in stereophile. Anyhow they seem to be very well made and look nice and apparently do some sort of shielding. I sort of think of them as short tethers for my Belles so they have to be strong enough to keep them from wondering off.

Win ---------------- Dodger, Let see LR Arky BBQ hot spots include Sim's Barbecue The original Sims, on 13th Street, is the best barbecue place I've ever eaten at (and I've eaten a bunch of barbecue). It's also Clinton's favorite and, no matter what your opinions of politics or character might be, you have to admit he knows his food. This is a very unusual mustard-based sauce. Beef and pork available. Both are great, but the sliced pork sandwich is the best. White Pig Inn Barbecue Simply the best pork ribs in Arkansas. Moist and dark and tender with a nice, dark, brownish red, ground chili based sauce. Tom's Twelfth Street BarBQ & The Old Shack R.I.P. were my favorites Dam I'm hungry
  10. Push Pull Vs. SET Debate On Jerry Springer! It's sad when it becomes more fun to discuss\read pizza toppings on this forum than amp topologies Someone nextday me some chicago pizza and i'll fedex you some backwoods arkansas bbq ?

I am so jealous. David Byrne is freaking brilliant love his solo work too. The rest of the show didn't look to shabby either . I have seen the b52s and elvis but i would have trade both for Talking Heads.
  12. I like the pizza that comes in a box from the store. Sometimes I have to knock the ice of the top but thats ok.
  13. I read over the past two years set vs pp threads in the archives which is not a short read and there isn't much difference from thread to thread. I have never heard a 45 or a 2A3 or anything under 8wpc although I would love to. I have found it interesting that the arguments about set tend to lean toward the lower power set amps. What about the 211 and 845 has anyone auditioned these? I did notice the price tag seems to be higher for these tube amps. I really enjoy my 300b amps and thats all that matters to me. I dig it. Amy - tell your brother the peperoni pizza is useless without anchovies and jalapenos
  14. How many watts was the Brook 12A 2A3 Push pull monoblocks 2 X 2a3 a channel ? Freedom Of Choice A victim of collision on the open sea Nobody ever said that life was free Sank, swam, go down with the ship But use your freedom of choice Ill say it again in the land of the free Use your freedom of choice Your freedom of choice In ancient rome there was a poem About a dog who found two bones He picked at one He licked the other He went in circles He dropped dead Freedom of choice Is what you got Freedom of choice! Then if you got it you dont want it Seems to be the rule of thumb Dont be tricked by what you see You got two ways to go Ill say it again in the land of the free Use your freedom of choice Freedom of choice Freedom of choice Is what you got Freedom of choice! 15. I'm offended and I want to riot : ) Doesn't really seem like a debate though but rather an expression of opinion. I would no sooner try to convince you of what my SET sounds like anymore than I would try to tell a women what to do as both excercises in futility. This is where I break out into song..... Now, the world don't move to the beat of just one drum, What might be right for you, may not be right for some. A man is born, he's a man of means. Then along come two, they got nothing but their jeans. But they got, Diff'rent Strokes. It takes, Diff'rent Strokes. It takes, Diff'rent Strokes to move the world. Everybody's got a special kind of story Everybody finds a way to shine, It don't matter that you got not alot So what, They'll have theirs, and you'll have yours, and I'll have mine. And together we'll be fine.... Because it takes, Diff'rent Strokes to move the world. Yes it does. It takes, Diff'rent Strokes to move the world. LOL couldn't resist : )
  16. Just found this article on the electric internet.... The Truth about Speaker Wire Despite the effectiveness of Gordon's cable demonstration and the truth about speaker wire, people visiting the McIntosh room at the shows, who had not experienced the cable demonstration, were disturbed that we were using ordinary heavy zip cord instead of one of the popular brands of speaker wire. Instead of listening to the McIntosh speakers and electronics, they recalled "bad" things they had been told about "common" speaker wire and this promoted questions about the "inferior" wire being used. When we changed the wire to a popular brand of wire, customers were happy with the setup, and directed their attention to the McIntosh equipment. The demand for high quality speaker wire was increasing and appeared to be a new marketing area for several companies. McIntosh did not make or sell speaker wire. The solution seemed very obvious--rather than spend time and effort to create negative sales for McIntosh dealers who were beginning to sell speaker wire, it seemed best to encourage the speaker owner/customer to consult with the dealer about what speaker wire to use. Consequently, I no longer recommended the kind of wire or wire sizes in the speaker manuals. By 1988, McIntosh no longer supplied audio interconnects with the electronics. Again, many kinds of special audio cables were available to the customer/owner. The dealer could also be consulted about what cables to use. I credit the success of the speaker wire industry to their expert sales and marketing ability. However, it is my experience that ordinary copper wire, as long as it's heavy enough, is just as good as name brands. Looking at this from a different perspective, there will always be those who will want expensive wire, not because there is an audible difference, but because they may value pride of ownership and prestige in a similar way to that of owning a Tiffany lamp or a Rolex watch.
  17. I just picked a brand out of the blue that seemed to be made well and was well shielded. For cable I would never pay alot and I always buy used. For interconnects and speaker cable I may have spent $180. http://www.the-music-cable.com/speakercab.asp

  19. LOL I see now what a great idea yeah I wonder what kinds of critters people have found in La Scalas during repairs hmmm
  20. Don't forget to stop in Helena for the King Biscuit Blues Festival! I went once in high school but was more interested in the buzz than the blues. This year I should make a trip down there October in Arkansas is usually not that bad.... Blues right on the Mississippi....
  21. Perhaps all those people that claimed voices were in their head were not too crazy.....
  22. The japanese are putting these in vending machines you get ads beamed at you as you walk by. Scary.
  23. I was drooling over the electron luv gear again and found this pic. Unfortunately there is not alot of descriptive text on the site but the site is still pretty new. I have heard people talk about ringing horns but i can't help but wonder what has been done to dampen these. Dang thats huge.
  24. Interesting hadn't heard of using mirrors will try it. I have too much echo but after i hang some heavy curtains I do not think I will need too many panels. When i clap now there is just too much echo. If i turn down the volume abrubtly there is an echo so I believe by just killing a little echo it will greatly improve my sound. Thanks for the advice.
