  1. hahaha - well it would be nice! Man, I hate to offer these for sale. I always said it's the one part of my stereo system that I couldn't possibly improve on and wouldn't ever sell. I figure when I become a millionaire I'll buy another pair. Maybe even 2!
  2. Hate to sell em but I am trying to come up with some cash for a down payment on a rental property. Speakers located in Albany NY. I don't want to deal with packing & shipping these myself. If you set it all up I will help a shipper load them on the truck in front of my house if necessary. Serial #'s kb-wo 15T784 & 15T785 (type AA crossovers) I'd rate them a 9 out of a possible 10. Minor scratch on the left speaker top and a small chip out of the front top corner veneer on the right speaker. All original drivers working fine. I purchased them from the original owner about 18 months ago. I'd like to get $2500 for them. The true color of the speakers is indicated in the top photo. The 2nd photo makes them look darker than they are. Notice the small chip on the top front left side. The minor scratch on the speaker top is in the center but it is difficult to see.
  3. check out these near nyc. COMMERCIAL SPEAKERs Klipsch Lascala, w/handles & protected corners, road ready, blk, demo avail, $375 Olivebridge, NY (845) 657-2628 (203) 515-0198
  4. I used a 1 owner, mint 1962 x-100-d with my khorns for a short while. It was ok but I wasn't in awe by any means.
  5. You dont really expect them to take every tube out of the box and clean it do you? I bet they don't even test em. If they were $50 tubes instead of $5 ones I'd expect they might be a little more concerned. But come on... $20?!
  6. I hear that the 2006 models are gonna be made from cardboard. You think todays rf7's are light? Watch klipsch cut costs next year!
  7. those amp are dnyaco st400ma's. I had them bridged and used them as monoblocks to power a pair of cornwalls. I thought it would be interesting having 1200w availible. Many memebers here told me I was nuts. They were right. I ended up selling them on ebay for about 1/2 what I had into them.
  8. I LOVE SS AMPS! Tubes are for sissys!
  9. sal I did take the top off but didn't take any pics. I can take it off again today and snap some.
  10. dodger I was kidding with timmi. I don't have any CWs.
  11. I gotta ask a possibly dumb question... why are there coils of wires in a x-over? What if you skipped the 10' long wire and used a 2" piece?
  12. timmikid send me 1/2 the cash up front and I'll ship a pair of nice cornwalls to you. I'll even pay the shipping. OK?
  13. I bought my 79 khorns from the original owner in 2004. He powered them for all those years with a yamaha cr2040. I didn't hear them together but he said loved the combo.
  14. thanks sal. I looked through my audio mag annual directories from 79 to 83. It's only listed in 1980. I'll probably hold on to it until I can try it out for a while. It's made really well. The controls are the most precise feeling I have ever laid my hands on. Every rotary function (except the volume) has detents. The guy I bought it from was in the process of selling his 4 story building. Each floor was used to display different groups of things he was selling. The first floor was all audio. Tons of stuff. The room was about 40 ft wide by 120 ft long. About 40 pairs of speakers were on the floor, turntables, cassette players, amps, receivers etc etc were all on tables. It was like a giant flea market of just audio. Since he's selling the place he needs to clean it all out. I asked him how much for everything and he said he'd take $5000. He did have a lot of stuff but I think he's dreaming when he says $5000. There were a pair of professional jbl speakers that were probably valuable. But I didn't see anything else I thought was particularly valuable. I wandered around for 1/2 hour or so and saw mostly "junk". Then I spied the luxman. I'm not familiar with the luxman models at all. I've never owned one so I had no idea what I was looking at. Luckily, I knew the luxman name from ebay and other message boards. I read "luxman" on the face and figured it was probably worth buying. It's one of those brand names that you can just look at and tell it's quality. We'll see. I'm pretty sure I'll be able to get my $70 back out of it. If anyone is near glens falls ny and wants to see what he's got give me a shout for his info. Here it is with the wood case removed.
  15. thanks - I just joined the luxman group
  16. I picked up a c5000a today and can't seem to find much info on it via google. Any owners care to tell me if it's a keeper? thanks
  17. My biggest "just missed deal" was a pair of JBLs. I walked into the salvation army a while back and saw a smallish vintage pair of speakers sitting on the floor with a sold tag on them. They had thick glass tops on them. One look and I knew they were well built and special. Took a quick glance at the backs and saw JBL L65 Jubal. Popped the grills off and noticed the woofers needed surrounds but otherwise the jubals were mint. I asked the buyer what he paid and he said $20. In talking with him I realized he had no clue what he had just purchased. I offered him $40 but he said no. He uncaringly tossed them into the trunk of a cab that was waiting outside to take him home. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=61377&item=5743966793&rd=1&ssPageName=WDVW The tweeters regularly sell for $500+ on ebay! http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=3276&item=5741480275&rd=1
  18. i had a pl400 and hated it! The power off "pop" blew a tweeter in one of my CWs. I will never use a phase linear product again.
  19. don't know what happened but it's FAST now!!!! thanks KLIPSCH>
  20. fini its funny you mention singer featherweights. There's a HUGE annual church sale here that I always go to. I spied a singer featherweight but didn't know what it was really. I knew enough to know that it was old and possibly worth more than the $25 asking price. I drove home, jumped on ebay, punched in the model number and up came the completed featherweight auctions! WOW! I jumped back in the car and zipped over there hoping it would still be on the table. It was! As I remember, I resold it on ebay for around $300. There's fun and profits to be made scouring all the sales. I find that I strike out about 90% of the time though. I don't bother with the estate sales anymore. There are so many people doing the ebay reselling thing nowadays. The competition is to fierce! If the estate sale is advertised in the paper for 8am, expect 30-100 people already standing in line when you arrive at 8am. I've found most estate sales start on friday and run to sunday. On friday you have to be one of the first in line to get a chance at most of the "good stuff". The estate sale companies know exactly what they have and price the stuff rediculously high. They will not even think of negotiating until late saturday or sunday. As saturday and finally sunday rolls around they get more desperate and will bargain. I find estate sales to be a complete waste of time. Sure, there may be the $50 marantz 8b or equivelant score but IMO those deals 1 in 10,000. Expect to do a lot of hunting if those are the kind of scores you're after. I ran a wanted ad in the local paper for "old stereo gear". For the 1st 2 years it produced so much stuff I couldn't believe it. I made a lot of money and got to play with a lot of great vintage gear. It was awesome! Then ebay started advertising everywhere and the calls all but stopped. I still run the ad because it's only $15 a week. The calls I usually get now are... "Hi, I have a magnavox console. I've seen them sell for $300 on ebay but I'd sell it to you for $150" because it doesn't work."
  21. sounds like a scam to me. why would the seller sell them for $2199 if his auction just ended for $2800? He could just relist them.
