  1. My Yamaha universal disc player died last night, so I am looking for something inexpensive to replace it with to hold me over for a while. It can be either a universal disc/sacd player or a dedicated CD player. I will be using the 2 channel analog outs, so it must have a decent analog out section.
  2. Gone, I didn't expect that to last long... Anyone here get it by any chance??
  3. Oops, nevermind. I see y'all were aware of that... ...And I haven't even had a beer yet
  4. You can still do that. All you need to do is hit the quote button, then just erase the portion of the post you do not want to quote...

  7. Sealed, case has a couple of cracks. $15 SHIPPED, Postal Money Order/Certified Check only.
  8. If Mike passes on that beast, I may just consider it(wife's blessing needed first). Bill That's a great amp, and one that I've wanted to own for quite some time...

Thanks for the review! Linda is my favorite female vocalist of all-time, and I will be purchasing the book...
  10. I realize it's probably a long shot, but here are the electronic components from my recently dismantled Boston Acoustics VR965 powered towers. Free shipping on any and all items. First up are the 80 watt sub amps. A binding post on one of them is half broken off, but a solid connection with bare wire is still easy to obtain. Of course, now that the amp is removed from the cabinet, it is extremely easy to replace. Think of the possibilities with these: For instance, you could use them as an amp for a small DIY sub, or as monoblock amps for a PC or bedroom setup. The amps also have high pass connections on the circuit boards, so you could build a pair of powered towers or a pair of powered monitors a la the Definitive Technology Power Monitor Series. If anyone is interested in them, I also have the crossovers for the mid & tweeter drivers I'll throw in for free with the amp(s). I am asking $30 each or $50 for both. Next up are the excellent Lynnfield VR 1" tweeters with anodized aluminum dome and extruded aluminum heat sink. These are really nice sounding tweeters (IMHO), and are very hard to find if you need to replace a bad one. I am asking $25 each or $40 for both. Next are the 4-1/2" midrange drivers. They have rubber surrounds and are magnetically shielded. I am asking $15 each or $25 for both. Finally, the 8" woofers. These also have rubber surrounds and magnetic shielding. FYI - one of the woofers has voice coil issues. I am not sure if it is repairable or not, but that is certainly something out of my skill level if it is possible?? I am asking $20 for the good one. (You can have the one with the bad voice coil for free if you buy the good one and want it). Like I said, it is probably a long shot, but I'll try anyhow. For someone who is looking for a fun winter project, you could buy the whole lot and build your own powered tower or monitor speakers. For anyone interested, you can have the whole lot of parts for $100 shipped. I'd also be interested in a trade for an SACD/universal disc player for all the components.
  11. Hope you have a great one!!

  13. Well, the series is all tied up heading to St. Louis for game 3 tomorrow evening... I was happy to see Carlos Beltran return to the lineup for the Cardinals. Obviously, his presence gives his team a much better chance of winning... Also, I really enjoyed James Taylor's performances at last night's game, I thought the sound quality was excellent!!
  14. Just to be sure, I've been doing further listening this morning with my amp plugged directly into the wall, and there is no doubt it sounds better than when plugged into the APC... I am fortunate enough to live in a place where I can crank up my music at any time I want, night or day (and trust me I do ). And I can tell you that (especially at higher listening levels) I am hearing faster transients and cleaner/tighter bass, no . For sure, the APC was limiting current to my amp to some extent... Like others have said, depending on what power conditioner and/or amp you own, your mileage may vary. I am sure glad I read this thread and tried my amp plugged directly into the wall outlet... Thanks again to all who contributed to this thread!! Rick
  15. There is your problem. I read this thread earlier, and I'm so glad I did!! I've had my APC H15 for a couple of years now, and I've had all of the (many) amps I've owned since then hooked up to it. After reading this, I checked the specs in the APC manual and its maximum current output is 12 amps. My Rotel amp's peak current output rating is >60 amps. While I've never really thought I was missing anything, I tried plugging the amp directly into a wall outlet, and by golly I did notice a difference immediately! With that, a big thanks to Schu for starting this thread, and all who made the helpful replies!!
  16. For sure. Also, I hated to see Carlos Beltran get hurt on the home run saving catch. What a shame, in the 2nd inning of his first World Series game ever. I hope he is able to continue tomorrow...
  17. How about a "sports" part of the "entertainment" section? I posted a thread/poll on the 2013 World Series this morning, and wasn't really sure where to put it, so I put it in the "general questions" part of the "Klipsch home audio" section. A dedicated sports section would be sweet (IMHO)...
  18. Whoa, my avatar just got huge (not that I mind a large photo of Linda )!! Chad, I gather you are "playing" with features of the forum?
  19. Awesome Chad, you da man, no !!
  20. It's that time of year again, and I'm looking forward to a (hopefully) good series this year... I'm a big Carlos Beltran fan and I'd like to see him get a ring before he retires, but I predict the Red Rox will win a hard fought series, in 7 games... What's your prediction?
