dont short change yourself on the hdtv thing its very addictive!! the firehawk screen from stewart is a 1.35 gain screen. i also have total light control, (black crushed velvet walls, black carpet, dark blue paint on the ceiling black outs on the one window, dark furniture. see pics in my system profile) i thought that id be sitting in the dark watching movies ect. but that hardly ever happens. we almost always have some light on in the room. keep that in mind. the only drawback to the stewart is the cost. one of the main reasons that i went with the stewart was that every store, except the box stores, that i went to in omaha has a stewart in their display rooms. when i asked why they all said that the stewart made the projectors look their best. and more than a few were useing $15k+ projectors in their main rooms!! food for thought( and no i dont work for stewart/sony/nad/klipsch) as far as a scaler goes, the one that is affordable and gets good reviews is the stuff from dvdo. the reason for a scaler is that you upconvert every signal to the native res of your projector, so all formats look the same and use every pixel of your projector. jay

you must not have seen the post reguarding the "rule" that you must have LOTR movie on the screen in order to post pics of your system look like a nice room!! good luck with that sub, is it new? did you have it hooked up before and it sounded ok? jay

for a basic system( read no scaler) if your going to watch alot of HDTV, id stay with a 16:9 and deal with the bands. as far as a screen goes, i ended up with a stewart firehawk. the contrast improvment was way worth it( better blacks). remember that any screen can be bright. but its harder to do good color saturation and a wide viewing angel with a very high gain screen. you said you have total light control go with a grey screen jay

i just caught up to this thread, but if anyone is looking for masonite call the lunber yard and ask for MDO (medium density overlay) its the same stuff my wife works for a lumber yard jay

so if i want to stay timbre matched stay with the cornwall horn, ok. now, should i use a cast horn or a plastic horn? the ones in my cornwalls are cast which one is easier to find jay

in an effort to do a center that matches the cornwalls im thinking of building a custom cab the will use 2/ k-22 woofers and a k-55 mid driver with a k-77 what horn should i use with the k-55 ? the one from the cornwall or should i use a khorn or belle horn?? and dean, if this happens can you do a network for this combo?? jay

ok...the room is 12x12 how high is the ceiling? tall enough to hang a vertical cornwall above the tv?? if so id go with khorns!! that would still leave enough room for a svs "tube" sub on each side of the tv use hereseys for the rear 4 channels and your in the bigs!! or you could use the new reference stuff, includeing the sub thats one bigger than the one you think you need, and still impress almost everyone that hears the system!! good luck with your system!! the wilsons sound great, no question. ive listened to them in a 2 channel powered by halcro stuff and .... truely spectacular!!! worth $175,000, includeing the halcro stuff? not for me!! if i spent all my money on wilsons i wouldnt be able to afford this ford kickin' chevy !! jay

the 4 ohm setting will produce more power, but, it may also cause the amp to run hotter or even overheat under long term high power uses, such as pounding the tunes at a party jay

i use a big peavey to power my subs tons of HD power but its fan cooled, so you can hear it during quiet pasages i dont think that id put it on the mains tho, its clean enough for the subs pounding away, but i think the noise floor would be to high for the horns jay

i had a crt rear projection that died 3 times from broken solder joints, the repair guy blamed the subs. the dlp/lcd units are supposed to be immune to vibration related failures jay
