  1. Sorry no help, but I have seen Heresies that were built to be stage monitors. Thus angled up at the musician. Could this have been the model you saw? I know somebody has pix of this type because I have seen them in the HT forum discussed as a possible center channel. Have not heard of or seen a corner model Heresy...would love to. EDIT: Found monitor pic
  2. I have always liked the look of your room JB. Nice Job. BTW, what was the dance? Macharaina, hookey pookey, chicken dance, other? And which one is Mrs. Jackonbart? EDIT: I see drinks on the speaker...hmmm, I have that problem at my house too. B-52s "Party out of Bounts" must have been playing: Who's to blame when parties really get out of hand? Crashers get bombed, slobs make a mess Ya know sometimes they'll even ruin your wife's dress Crashers gettin' bombed. (Who's to blame?)
  3. Wow, great set up both before and after. Can't say specifically if the THX system needs any special set up as I have never played with one. With the coin you dropped on that I would expect the dealer to assist you in set up if you need it. Sounds like you are on the right track using SPL meter and such. Did you double check things like the DSP settings and make sure you are not playing in a Party, Music 6, Stadium or Jazz club setting. I know from time to time I have switched things for music or sports games then thrown in a movie and for a brief moment thought man that is not right. Welcome to the forum, stick around lots of good info here.
  4. O, hahahahahahahahahha post-padding[] All, My intent was for you not to post the answer until you know them both. That is why I said I knew the first one, but did not post an answer. Ray, that is my stream of consciousness writing style. It all makes sense to me and just spews out of my finger tips. Sorry for those of you caught in my wake.[] Have fun if you keep it up...but the 2-4-Monday was more or less a flop in my mind. I am off to visit with my in-laws who are in town. How did this one day Thanksgiving thing from 200 years ago turn into a week long event that takes more effort then X-mas?[*-)][8-)]
  5. Excuse my ignorance, I used to get all my LPs at the corner record store or if I was lucky I could bum a ride in my pre-driving days to Ann Arbor, Michigan. Great college town great record stores...anyway, back on topic. Is this sort of thing for real http://www.dccblowout.com/showpages.asp?pid=1037 or snake oil? If it is real how does one go about identifying them? EDIT: I read some more at this link http://www.dccblowout.com/showpages.asp?pid=1187 and conclude that it must involve a lot of trial and error. Also the info is not made public. Anyone every BUY one of these records and notice that the guy is onto something? That is did the LP sound head and shoulders above other copies you heard?
  6. Ray/JustOne, you are both correct with a one minute differenc in your post. As for paragraphs, I just hit the return key...I konw that first song...will have to think about the 2nd.
  7. Good, strong first effort - Ray. You are so close. You got the words all right except for one with the Ronette's song. How about I give you the lead up to the title all but the one word you are missing. And I said baby if you wanna be my ????? you better take me home 'cause it's a long long way to paradise and I'm still on my own on my own EDIT: BTW Killer 1971 is the album snake on the cover I think. I grew up in Detroit, so the "Detroit" line probably got it some more air play there then the rest of the U.S.
  8. Don't feel bad about the age I am 40 + 2 weeks just not my cup of tea...but I do think it was a pretty popular song. Time to mix things up a little bit. Remember way back when on the old rock stations they would have something like Two For Tuesday? They would play two songs from the same band all day. Typically one was a well known number and the other was a little more obscure. Well lets play 2-4-Monday. We will give an easier one so you know the band/artist then a little less know one to make it fun. You have to get both right to be the next one posting lyrics. Here we go.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /> #1 Well, we got no choice All the girls and boys Makin' all that noise 'Cause they found new toys Well, we can't salute ya Can't find a flag If that don't suit ya That's a drag #2 Told her that I came from <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" />Detroit city and I played guitar in a long haired rock and roll band She asked me why the singer's name was Alice I said listen baby you really wouldn't understand
  9. Beach Boys - John B Sloop ??? EDIT: Was I right about the other song being a Bee Gees number or was I thiking all wrong?
  10. I think it is a Bee Gees song. Don't konw the title. Hey, don't make fun of me I did not put the lyrics up and it was my older sisters that always had the Bee Gees blasting,[:$]
  11. Probably this band's most radio played song...though they have a lot of other great ones. Check back to one of my earlier posts if you need help on the band...good chance it is a previous band I have picked as I have little imagination at 4:00pm on a Friday You said you love me and thats a fact Then you left me, said you felt trapped Well some things you can explain away But my heartaches in me till this day Enjoy!
  12. Aerosmith - Rocks The Clash - The Clash Boston - Boston I guess Aerosmith dropped the ball not naming Rocks "Aerosmith". Then I would have scored the Band/Album name trifecta.
  13. In the past I used nothing but Audioquest inner connects but by the time I got the cabling of my dedicated room I was just not ready to dump that much money into all the cables I needed. I now have many, many Blue Jeans cables and could not be happier with them. Very satisfied - quick shipping, great email communication. Have bought from them 3-4 times and would buy again.
  14. I picked up several of these http://www.bluejeanscable.com/store/speaker/speakerprices.htm from Blue Jeans. Look down the page for the "Locking" Banana Plugs: info. Sadly there is no picture. Things I like about them: -Two set screws. On to clamp down on the casing of the wire, the other to make the contact with the strands of wire. -There is a collar that you turn to make the plug portion in the binding post expand. It works very well there is no way you can remove them with out turning the collar the other way. -Nice build quality, very heavy and solid Down side is that they are a bit pricey at $5 per pair. Hey you only live once. I agree with CP1 that I like to have all my stuff match.
  15. I would think a $100,000 system would be such a waste of money if you were stuck listening to something boring like classical music on LP all day.... [][][H] Darn right, I gotta have some money left over for that "crappy" Rap that Parrot was knocking yesterday[6]. I am still waiting for his "Parrot Approved" tracks so I can try out something new. I have been wasting my time with Rock and Jazz[+o(] for some time now.
  16. I have really liked the LPs put out by Classic Records that I have picked up. At 200g, nice art work, quality sound - an all around nice product. Seems like just about every single album is $29.99. I was wondering if anyone else has found a seller with cheaper prices? If so please give me a link or a name.
  17. My decision to go with DirecTV was totally based on getting local channels. That said I like the selection and they are constantly adding more channels. Best to compare channels and your likes/dislikes. DirecTV has XM and I think Dish have Sirius so another thought to throw in the mix. Good Luck!
  18. Pretty sure it is the side with the sparkle on it.
  19. So, in your opinion what is something good to listen to? Give me a hand full of "Parrot Approved" tracks. I'd be interested to know the LP/Cassette/CD/8-track or what ever version of the recorded image you consider to not be crap. I really want to hear what I have been missing. I am serious, not looking to start a multi page thread of audio-babble.
  20. I guess that totally depends on the look you are after. I would not want any foam showing in my living room. But with a dedicated room I like it. To date everyone that has seen it thinks it is a plus to the room not a minus (at the very least they are being nice).
  21. I think Dean is right on the mark with the too cheap part []. As for the hearing who knows. % that have it figured out...probably none...too many variables. For myself I can say that the biggest impact I have made in improving sound in my room was through broadband absorption and diffusion products.
  22. With out a doubt: Anarchy in the U.K. by the Sex Pistols. It is a school, right? These kids needs some ed-ju-ma-cation on music. Throw in anything by the Clash as well. I suggest "Safe European Home" form the Give em Enough Rope LP. BTW the Brubeck should be the type to span all generations.
  23. I have had the fortune/misfortune to move around a lot. I have had several cable companies so feel like I can speak in pretty general terms. With out a doubt Satellite is superior in both picture quality and sound quality. Given the choice the only reason to pick cable would be because of a cable modem. If cable comes to my current area I will still keep the satellite and pay the extra money to have a cable modem (no DSL in my area either). Anybody who says cable is more reliable due to snow/rain/trees is either a liar or working for the cable company. I am soooooooooo glad I moved to the middle of nowhere and was forced to get satellite. I was believing all the cable hype/claims until I saw it for myself. I only have experience with DirecWay and it ROCKS!
