    A museum of speaker history?

James, I'm thinking of building the mini-punch instead of the University Classic.

I'll have to copy these measurement out before they go away.

    Bruce

Bruce.  That thread will go no where.  It is fine.  However, if jerktards get on that thread, I'll ask the respectable forum moderators to trash it.

Seti is a great example of Horn love.  He is on the Klipsch museum board, has amazing knowledge of Klipsch history and items,  has a horn loving website, and has a lot of my fun spirited prototypes that he doesn't spew all over with crazy claims.  Perfect guy to share my novelties with.

  2. Marvel (Bruce) post is the thread info that has what is needed to build. Great guy.

Dave Harris, a great past forum member, previously had a flat pack, but got out of audio all together.  Great guy.

Justin Weber has the most experience with this speaker besides me.  Great Guy.

I pulled a later thread from this forum about this speaker as there was irritating comments (from folks who had no experience with this speaker) .

This speaker was designed with intentional compromises for it's size.  I'm fully aware of what they are.  Example:  lol the "horn is short and the throat is so big with a poor compression ratio."   JC:  Yes thank you; I know what I have here.

I had 3 very detailed videos on Youtube on how to build the minipunch.  Unfortunately, there was an individual that wanted to make a contract to build this speaker (Not Justin).  Yea...money involved and such.  I was uncomfortable with the process.....then I got the ... well "I really can build this w/o your permission".   It was official after that. ........ NO full public info on my hobby stuff.

I will compare this speaker to no other at least online....  This has slam...thwack.  No the low end thunder obviously.  Horn loaded tractrix.  Ported tuned to around 40Hz.  If you have a sub, U can consider tune to about 70Hz.  Or plug both ports for no ported at all.

I've made about 5 more Bass horns since this one.  I flirted with the idea of posting my "snail horn" on here.  But dear god, it would have pulled out the big A holes.  Plz.  Spare me.  No more.  Future fun hobbies won't be posted here. I will share with friends.

The 1st driver the OP mentions is a fantastic driver.   Has potential to get out to 800Hz but honestly....one would just have to try and see.  Easily gets out there but whether horn loaded out there...I don't know.   When I mean "try", I'm not talking about some software of predictability.

The driver Justin mentioned is one for sure to give a thwack to the chest at a reasonable cost.  Will not be the best at 800Hz IMO.

  4. I have one like this.  Very good racks for the money.  Somebody should jump on this.

BTW....you can put the middle shelf on the top.  As you can see, the OP has the middle shelf with shorter legs in the middle.  I would pull this and put on top...and the "VTI" logo would be on top shelf.

  5. Sad news to hear.  We lost a true Klipsch fan and a friend.

If you didn't know Bob, I'll sum up to say he was intelligent and witty.  He certainly focused on doing the things that made him happy.  An example would be his love for sitting on his front porch and gazing over the Georgia mountains.  It was there, I got to hear past renditions of his life in places such as Vietnam and the Railroad industries.

I have yet to tell this sad news to my son who really took a liking to Bob.   My son has a love for the past and you could walk around Bob's house and ask lots of question of the historical items/ collectibles he has scattered about.  Each item had a great story.  He had a prized possession...."the Bell".

I wish I had met him sooner and I wish I my own life wasn't so dern busy that I could have made more trips to visit him.  My son asked for this time and time again.
I'm gonna find some photos and such to post here to share memories.

RIP Bob.  Teresia, thank's for your lovely hospitality.

I believe those cabinets are actually tuned at 40hz designed to use an EQ to draw out additional bass as long as you don't get too carried away with the volume knob I think that would be just fine and would start from there keep in mind I would not try and boost the signal below the tuning point of the cabinet 40hz.

That is my understanding as well.

LOL.  get rid of it, safely.

It has MERCURY inside it, and it is best to safely dispose of it.   Inadvertently drop it, knock it off a table or desk, and you DO have a health hazard where you reside.

Less than 0.1% of all tubes have mercury in them.  `Own or display................ something else please, like a large transmitting tube !!

Do not leave any Mercury Vapor tubes in your home or office !!  For your own personal safety, please say Bye Bye to this well-meant gift .

    Jeff Medwin

I have another tube from him that is almost 1 foot long.. Huge.

And it has mercury in it too.  Yes.  I'm aware. Thanks.

The Reason for posting; he put a MASK on it.  He had one on his face that matched it.  I should have gotten a picture.

  8. Yes.  We have about 35 employees.  All but about 8 was on unemployment.  We have almost all back on payroll now.  Our concern is people filing for FMLA....and the new rules.

    Good News, I think.  @jwc

The status has changed to " Initiating Closing."

We found the PPP money in the account yesterday.  Just in time really.  There was consideration for full shutdown as we were very underwater.

  10. Well's Fargo was one of the three banks we applied with.  It was comical really, as they didn't have us "apply" initially but prescreened us with "how much loan are you asking for?"

Synovus asked for a little more info initially and United Community Bank (UCB) was a full-on application asking for all the financials and such.   UCB was ultimately who we used.

Our PPP application status on my bank’s site still says, “Under Review.”   Our banker is no longer certain the application has earmarked any of the now exhausted funds.  I’m still holding out slim hope that the PPP application was successful.  Plan B is to hope that our application stays in the system to put us in a position to get some of the next wave of funds.

I decided to pay our 3 employees, but I will not be able to pay again in two weeks unless PPP comes through, or the economy opens up, or pigs fly.

i can only wonder how many nail salons, food trucks, etc., the truly small businesses, got their share of CARES Act funds, I suspect almost no one.  The hedge fund managers and other financially sophisticated “small businesses” seemed to have successfully swooped in and sucked the life out of the intent of the PPP and the CARES Act.

I'm sad to hear this.  Your bank should know this by now.

  12. I have been informed by our bank that our PPP funds are approved.

Compounding the concern quite drastically is the fact that this PPP money is not repayable  if you spend at least 75% of it on payroll.

That will easily be accomplished in my case.
