  1. For some pretty good software on the cheap ($40 at best buy) try Magix Audio Cleaning Lab. Very User friendly, lots of options, and also has the ability to save in ogg vorbis format (IMHO very superior to MP3) It is a fun program too...
  2. I am pretty sure BS stands for Bookshelf in this ad. ---------------- On 5/28/2005 5:06:11 AM Corvette6769 wrote: What do you suppose the "BS" stands for? ----------------

A program I use is called Magix audio cleaning lab. $40 at best buy...you simply tell it that you are coming direct from your tt and it automatically compensates...works pretty slick...

You could program the player to skip specific tracks on a CD and the next time you played it, the machine would remember your picks. I loved that feature, as most rock albums always seem to have a few horrid tracks. Alas, I got rid of the player only to discover that their newer models do not have this feature. Does anyone know of any players that still have this feature? ---------------- Sony's new Mega storage changers have this feature. I have the three hundred disc changer, and you can program it to skip tracks. You can also group your albums by genre so you can hit random play and only have it play randomly from certain genre discs.
  5. You might want to check the prices those albums are fetching on ebay. The market seems ripe for these albums. Especially the sealed ones. They are fetching upwards of 50-100 each.
  6. The Crime of the Cetury just keeps goin up in price...lol The album I told you guys about yesterday is not up over 300 bucks on the ebay site. One just like mine sold for nearly 150 last nite. I listed mine today. Hope I get as lucky as the guys who listed these albums this week... Here is the link for that one goin for over $300 now... http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=4731834410&ssPageName=STRK:MEWA:IT
  7. Mine is just the standard MSFL record...after that last post I realized that there is a difference...What the heck is a UHRQ? Major education goin on today...all for a quarter spent at a yard sale...lol

Here is the link from ebay for a sealed copy of this album going for that price... http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=4731834410&ssPageName=STRK:MEWA:IT I guess with ebay, its all about finding the right buyer...
  9. Thanks for the info guys! Having never heard Supertramp, I will probably take your words for it and put it up on ebay. I do know that I will keep my eyes open for more of these OMR's from mobile fidelity...
  10. A quick question from a CD generation guy who is making an attempt at getting into LP's. I purchased a bunch of records from a yard sale, and included in the find is a Sealed, never opened or played, "Supertramp--Crime of the Century" LP. It is the release by Mobile Fidelity Sound Labs, and claims to be "Half-Speed Mastered" and Super High Fidelity Limited Ed. I only paid a quarter for the LP, but a quick ebay search shows the album selling from 40-200 bucks in opened condition. Is this record that rare, or is a MFSL recording that good? Should I hang onto the record or sell it, having never heard Supertramp? Any help out there?

  12. This thread has been started before, but I will chime in with my favs. Master and Commander--The battle scenes will really give your horns and sub a workout. The creaking of the ship is almost freaky real. For kids fare, The Incredibles is hard to beat. For shear sub performance and air movement, try the depth charge scenes in U-571 (Be careful not to rattle your windows out of your living room... The battle scenes on all three LOTR movies are especially good. Get the extended editions. The 6.1 DTS ES track are amazing! Spider Man 2 has a copy of one of the original theatrical trailers in DD. (Most trailers are not encoded in DD on a DVD.) For a quick show piece, show this trailer the surround processing and the music are incredible.
  13. Hey Colterphoto...what's with the new avatar? Too many people using the stock one you had? Or did you just figure out how to insert your own. Anyway, whos the photo of?
  14. I have a pair of original Forte's, and to my ears, in my room, 12inches away and toed in is best for HT applications. The Forte really sings when you feed it a full range DVD signal. The original instruction book also tells you to toe the speakers in, and that is what I have always done. The passive radiator seems to need a little breathing room behind it if you want to experience the full range of sound the mighty Forte can produce. As always this is just my 2 cents. Speaker placement is almost always a matter of taste, (Except for khorns of course, which really need to be in the corner...)
  15. If you don't like your name, just keep tryin'. It keeps spitting out different results for the same name. Here are the First ones it spit out for me... My Real Name pimped out--Reverend Doctor Johnson Trump (LOL how did it know I work for a church...) My Klipsch forum name--Ghetto Fabulous Fletcher Flash Interesting site...they could have left out the profanity though...
  16. Here's another...this ones from Rich Mullins Here is my heart take what you want 'Cause I have no use for it anyway Well of all the stupid things I've ever said This could be the worst may be the best But those are the breaks These are the bruises And if I can't give myself away I'm the only one who loses And I don't want to lose this It is the sea that makes the sailor And the land that shapes the sea And I do not know yet what I am made of Or all I may someday be And it is the wood that makes a carpenter It's the very tools of his trade And it is love that makes a lover And a cross that makes a saint Here is my song, listen if you will But I have no heart for it anymore I just have half a mind to cut it loose And if it sails off into the blue Then I'll just let it soar And the sky is better keeping And I won't be any poorer For giving it its freedom And here's one for freedom It is the sea that makes the sailor And the land that shapes the sea And I do not know yet what I am made of Or all I may someday be It is the wood that makes a carpenter It's the very tools of his trade And it is love that makes a lover And a cross that makes a saint Well, of all the stupid things I've ever said This could be the worst may be the best But those are the breaks
  17. My fave guitarist Phil Keaggy. Here's the lyric from one of my favorite songs of his: Strong Tower: Wrong thoughts and emotions Have blinded the eyes of faith Misguided devotion kept a pilgrim In dire straits Where does one go Where do you turn The guilt and fear Depression lurks Just beyond your back door Waiting for your Decision To live and learn Deep in the valley Caught a glimpse of the morning star If we could just reach you Get to know who you really are Where does one go Where do you turn There's a place A fortress high And an open door Waiting for your Reception When you arrive The Name of the Lord Run now Is a strong tower Where you'll be safe
  18. I really enjoyed this movie, and am looking forward to sharing it with my elementary aged boys. Granted, the story line is pretty far fetched, but then again, that is what I go to the movies for...an escape from reality for a couple of hours. What a pleasure to sit through an action movie, and not have a single moment where I had to cover my 8 year olds eyes or ears...just good, clean, fun entertainment. I think movie studios need to take a good hard look at why this film was so successful. For that matter, why just about any film that is relatively well done, and stays away from sex and vulgar language, seems to do well at the box office. Go figure...families are hungry for quality, non-offensive entertainment. I am not saying that they should stop making movies that adults really enjoy without kids, they just need to address the family segment with good quality a little more often...
  19. After you replace your mother board battery, go to google and do an Atomic Clock sync search. There are several free atomic clock syncs that will to a quick ping of the atomic clock once a day and automatically keep your clock perfect.
  20. Believe in Music...ahh that was a great music store. A fellow Grand Rapidian here Joe...If you ending up scoring some of those speakers, let me know. I might be interested, especially in one of the subs. Thanks, Dan
  21. One thing that we found to be totally worth it, was Cirque du Soleil. It is located in Downtown Disney, just outside the parks. They have a dedicated theater just for this show. I had seen parts of it on TV, and was not happy that my wife talked me into $50 a seat for a glorified circus. Boy was I wrong. This was the absolute highlight of my trip there last year. I'm with others who say that the thrill factor of the rides at Disney is sorely lacking. The kids loved it though. (Give me Cedar Point any day...) If you plan on going to Cirque, get your tickets early, as they sell out several days in advance. Have a great time...
  22. With my experience on ebay, you almost always get more by parting out the system. Its a little bit of a pain to ship stuff individually, but usually worth it. I scour estate sales and garage sales all summer looking for stuff to sell on ebay. I just netted almost 200 dollars by parting out a technics 2 channel system that I purchased for 30 bucks. Good luck with selling the stuff. Dan
  23. The Sb2 and Kg2 are both decent bookshelfs, but would not sound good together in the same system. I have had the SB2 and the Kg2. I prefer the KG. Just my 2 cents...
  24. The thing that bothers me most about the Star Wars saga, and I am a fan, is that the new movies, which are supposed to have occured before the original three, seem to have more advanced technologies in spacecraft, light saber design, tracking abilities etc. I know that movie making has advanced a long way since the original, but I wish they would have tried a little harder to make the new machines look like they were older models not newer ones. I loved the episode one, thought episode two dragged on way to long (typical of most middle chapters of any trilogy), and will go to see episode 3, but won't wait in line for it. Just my 2 cents...
