  1. I guess if you live somewhere in southern Texas, you might be able to get Dave over to go heavy on the Corns.
  2. Nothing quite like listening to the soft trickling sounds of a mountain stream or perhaps the splashing French garden fountain on Llewellyn's Natural Sounds Gold to "set the mood"... I thought that's what they meant by "streaming audio..."
  3. Your friend has all that tool firepower, and you get butt joints?
  4. Not the lower-mass Improved, right? That shouldn't be a good match for the low-compliance Denon 103R.
  5. But the 60w indies have a warmer presentation.
  6. I have two IC-800 speakers in my bathroom ceiling for my streaming audio.
  7. I just use the enophile dictionary, since I'm a wine snob in California. "After the fire, I noticed my Cornwalls had a smoky finish."
  8. Ditto! I got to enjoy a colonoscopy this morning! The best part was having the nurse stroke my bald head...[Y]
  9. This is an interesting subject - one that has been studied. From what I recall, there are the two basic modes of listening that you've identified. What's interesting is that people who are professional musicians and those who have spent years in music (as a performer) will use the "active" listening mode that you practice. That is my "focused" listening mode. Note that many people do not practice that mode of listening for wide varieties of music. I believe the term "high end audiophile" is often applied to those who take great pleasure listening in that mode. Here is my listening chair: Do you mind answering a few questions about the chair? I'll send a PM.
  10. That's great to hear. And it's good to have YOU here on the forum, too!
  11. Congratulations, ya big lug! Let's see some wedding pictures! I'll give you a couple days...
  12. Be patient and scout the Garage Sale forum here, as well as eBay and Craigslist. They will show up. Often WAY undervalued!
  13. 100% agree, Steve. They did go out and get one legitimate hitter (Beltran) late in the season, but he never seemed comfortable with these misfits. I don't think the fans embraced him, either.
  14. I don't like making excuses for my team, because all teams deal with major adversity through the season, but dogone it, I think the Giants would have been atop the division if Posey hadn't been taken down 2 months in (BTW, he's been catching balls from a squat, and is expected to return to the catching position next Spring). Just replace every time Whiteside choked at the plate with an average Posey, and there would be enough wins to get them there. All that being said, I have no horse in this race. I do have good friends who are passionate about the game, who do have a team still in it. What I hope for is good, clean baseball played hard. May the best team win!!
  15. It's fun to joke about his last name, though.
  16. Phils and Rays...whaddaya think? Congratulations, JB!
  17. Won't work without stereo and beer. [][8]
  18. Larry, I picked up a 5000cst oil at the hobby shop, and Nick (duder1982 here) kindly sent me two little bottles he had (viscosity unknown, but they're each tinted, which should corespond to a particular viscosity. They'll know at the hobby shop). I think in this particular application, 100,00cst oil will still be too thick. But you never know...I hope to get back to the turntable tomorrow (fingers crossed).
  19. Hi Larry! Sorry for the late response, as I've been out of town. I have 3 different weights to try out right now. Thanks for contacting AJ. I'll report my findings. Boy, it is a real PITA to put this thing back together. The screws are about as big as a flea..And I have big ol' dog paws!
